I'm going to promise you and make anyone who reads this promise, Is that everything they serve is phenomenal. Your meal also comes with either a fried or baked corn cake, my wife and I both had the fried corn cake. My wife has the fried chicken, her sides were macaroni and cheese and collard greens. Every bite of our food was delicious!!! The serving sizes are much bigger than expected for the price, worth every penny and more!! The employees were kind and provided excellent service!!!! We grabbed a few banana puddings for dessert, those were amazing!! Food is served in large to go containers, you are able to sit at one of their many tables and enjoy your meal in the dining area. The boxes are convenient since there's no way I could eat all that food in one sitting. Everything about Carols made us feel like we were eating at home around friends and family, a must visit if you are anywhere near Quincy, FL!!!!!

BUT... it was only a brief moment of disappointment as they saw us out front and threw open the doors a solid 15 min early and seated us like a member of their family. There were several dinner specials, but we came for the fried shrimp, and special it was!!! Neither of us could finish our plates as the shrimp were absolutely massive. We had also indulged in dinner rolls with a honey butter that can only be described as "dessert worthy". Their cheese grits and collards filled my soul in the best possible way. Large wooden tables, comfy banquette seating, and charming small town vibes were found throughout Big Papa's Chophouse. They even had the ACV Network on TV. The staff was friendly, attentive, and so very accommodating to us despite us arriving like early houseguests. We can't wait to come back for Prime Rib night. 10/10

First of all, out in the middle of no where, odd open times but BUSY BUSY when they are open. Take a seat if available and you will be greeted and treated by their sweet littlest family members who are ready to take your drink orders. Our server was excellent and ready to host and please her guests. They seem to be VERY accommodating with their menu and requests so any questions or concerns prior to ordering do ask, because they were very willing to please! I came in with the intention of ordering the all you can eat--which is mix and match!! but the server talked me out of it (I think she under estimated my ability to pound food) BUT she said if I chose to order more and upgrade later she would do that for me with no penalty. We had 6 in our party. Our drinks came quickly and without issue. They brought us one salad (forgetting another) and honestly the salads were small and disappointing (this is where they start losing some creds). Definitely more salad dressing than salad. It's odd they chose to use disposable containers and dinner ware--I feel like a lot of waste and overhead is lost here...I mean the salad comes in a plastic clear container, with dressing in plastic ramekin with lid and on styrofoam plate with two packs of crackers. Losing too much. Especially for three bites of salad. I ordered the "deviled crab" and grilled shrimp. It came with two hush puppies which I immediately gave away (I don't eat those at all), two sides; onion rings and cheese grits. Ya'll, those onions rings were ON POINT. Don't miss out on those if you stop in. They boast that everything is homemade and I believe it. The onion rings were perfect. The cheese grits were pretty yummy--I wish I tossed my grilled shrimp in them. So the deviled crab, if you've ever had this dish before--theirs is not it. What they truly have here is a homemade crab cake. It's not bad--I ate all mine--however my two gfs could not. They were so disappointed and turned off by the texture/color of the cake. The server noticed they weren't eating theirs and was adamant about bringing them replacement food--they finally agreed to take more fried shrimp which was also very yummy. Crab claws is a new dish for me on this Florida trip--they offer it grilled, fried or blackened and I will say the grilled crab claw was delicious! For the six of us; all ordered the seafood platters (combo of 2) our total was $130 so I'd say that's very reasonable. Definitely worth the stop!!

In the meantime, there were no condiments or plasticware on the service counter and no cups or anything...just bottles of vinegar. She tried climbing the half wall in the main entrance and no one corrected her! The food was decent, but took way too long as we were 2nd to order out of 2 orders. The guy in front of us ordered 7 minutes before me and he didn't get his order to go until 15 minutes after mine! The store was really nasty... chairs, tables & floor were sticky! I intended to order cole slaw and fries on two of them and cole slaw and green beans on the other. Alas - they're out of cole slaw. Switched to fried okra on two and broccoli on the other. Got home with the meals, crisped up in the air fryer. Put some malt vinegar on my fish and took a bite. There was so much batter around the skinny little piece of fish I thought I was eating a doughnut with fish in it. The actual fish wasn't the usual firm flaky white (cod or pollock) usually served. I suspect it was tilapia, in my opinion, no comparison in quality. We threw most of the fish away, and ate the sides. Very sad experience. I hope it was a one-off as I've loved Captain D's fish for years. I'll try the Tallahassee location next time. For $33, not worth it.
