I went in to buy balloons for my grandchildren. But, a Halloween dancing dog found its way into my basket. Service was great and I was checked out in a jiffy. The balloon prices were excellent. I may have paid a little more for my dancing dog. But, it was worth it.

This time I was fascinated by their Harry Potter collection. They had stuffed animals, Lego-Harry Potter Train sets, and Slytherin wand sets. I will leave those for Draco. I also spent sometime in their journal department. One of my resolutions was to journal more and I thought with a cute journal, I may be more willing to write more regularly. I wasn't really approached by anyone to ask if I needed help. But, there were people at the checkout counter. The prices for new books are usually very good. They give you a 20 percent discount. So, I wandered around and ended up leaving empty handed. But, I will definitely be back soon.

Babies are so sweet and precious! They are so little and you need so many things: burp cloths,…read morereceiving blankets, and tons of little outfits. I especially like buying baby clothes and when there is an expectant mom in the family, I just have a ball. I had the most wonderful service at Carter's Babies and Kids. Amber and Dee helped me pick out outfits, advised me on size, and even put things away for me that they thought I would like. That is awesome customer service! There are covid protocols for standing in line as you check out and all of the salespeople, as well as the customers are wearing masks. They clean the counter between customers. I loved that safety protocol. I love how the store is arranged, so all of the infant clothing is in one section. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Carter's has clothing for more mature kids too. They have great deals and if you open a charge(Yes, I did!) you can earn points to get cash back in rewards. Great customer service, huge selection, and great deals! I know I will be back soon.

While I was about it, I'd pick up some global snacks. It had been years, but yesterday, since I was in the area, I decided pop in. The store focus seems to have shifted to foodie treats. I scooped up a box of British brownie mix made with Cadbury chocolate and a jar of Madras curry powder made with spices from Cape Town. I could have bought many more items, believe me, but I've been on an eating tear lately, so I held back. I was sad to see the home furnishings section much scaled back and more conventional than back in the day. But still, World Market remains a foodie delight!

Last week we went and grabbed some things off of clearance. 2 cushions, only one had the original price tag and the other had the WM price tag. I only noticed the original one & said hey that's not 50% off of the price. The associate showed me the other cushion with now the marked up price tag from WM & said "oh we had to increase the prices for inflation" and never honored the original price tag on the other pillow... then she marked me wrong for yet another item for the price it was marked before the final one. I showed her the other price tag on the other side saying "look you guys marked it as such" for the final price. She gave me attitude and said "oh I need to speak to the manager to see if she can honor it". She gave me the price without my reward coupons but I was so tired of her nonsense I wasn't fighting her over a couple of dollars. I didn't want to make a scene but it's honestly absurd that they can't even honor their OWN MARKED PRICES. They were giving me attitude for their negligence & honestly, shady business practices. Another time, I went once to do a store pickup. It wasn't ready for 3 days & I finally just went to the store because we were in the area & don't live nearby enough to just wait around and I needed the items. The person gave me so much attitude about how I shouldn't come in without notification. It wasn't a holiday or anything, just a random spring day. But I shook it off as oh maybe she's having a bad day. They have cute stuff but for the price & the horrible CS, I can easily see this being the next store to go out of business. "Inflation" is affecting everyone but don't go marking up items & then expecting us not to say anything when you pull things like this. We most likely won't be returning or just order online to avoid this.
