Oh this place was so delish! I got this soup I have no idea what it was called but it had some veggies and chicken in it and a higher spice level in it and omg I had to get a second bowl that's how good it was. For lunch I got chicken pad Thai and added broccoli and the portions are enough for like 2 or three people. It was absolutely delicious. The service was amazing and my food came out so quick. I've been to Bann Thai TWICE in two weeks and the food is outstanding! The first time I went I had a Seafood dish $19 that was so plentiful that I took half of it home and it included expensive seafood like scallops. Yesterday I had THE best Coconut Shrimp I have ever had anywhere! The shrimp were not overcooked and they tasted strongly of coconut -- succulent and delicious. Service was kind and gracious. Had a craving for some Thai food and happened upon this place. Was a great meal. A very large menu and everything looks great. We had Thai tea to start and it's always delicious. We ordered the fresh roll with shrimp for an appetizer. I love the crunchy veggie's with the peanut dipping sauce. I ordered the yellow curry with chicken and we also ordered the noodle dish with chicken. The curry was very good. Mild with just a touch of heat. We also ordered basil fried rice to take home. I wanted to try a local Thai restaurant. I ordered Phad "Pad" Thai. Unfortunately this was not at the level I would have expected. I had the food delivered to where I'm staying and they didn't provided plastic ware or chopsticks or anything to eat with. It was very bland and very little taste but It had a odd texture to the food. I ended up not eating it ultimately. With all do respect. I review a lot of restaurants... Discovered a new Thai restaurant in Fort Collins and we absolutely love it. The menu is quite varied with many selections but I ended up choosing the chicken panang with medium spice. The chicken was plentiful and the vegetables were also plentiful which made for a nice big full meal. The taste of the panang curry was actually very very good and would definitely order this dish again in the future but we're anxious to try some other selections from the menu. The only critique I have is I wish that they had a lunch menu with a slightly smaller amount of food in a slightly lower price. I've only eaten Thai a handful of times, so I won't qualify as an expert, but I enjoyed my meal last night. Tried the yellow curry (chicken with jasmine rice). It's one of the milder dishes and definitely doesn't pack a ton of heat. The dish was flavorful and hit the spot. Service was definitely slow and we had to sometimes work to get our servers attention (to pick up the bill, etc.) But they were working hard and likely short-staffed. I'm a little torn on my review of this place. My friends like it. My husband had the yellow curry and it was delicious. He said probably one of the top places he's had yellow curry. I agree it was good. However, I had the pad thai and I judge a thai restaurant by how good their pad thai is. This one was not to my liking. It could be my preference but it was too saucy and idk, if they use tamarind or some other ingredient that makes it sweet but it was too much. I found a decent Thai restaurant in Fort Collins, pretty close to authentic. My biggest gripe with Thai restaurants are always with the Pad Thai preparation. Mainly the issue is very little sauce, fewer ingredients, and leaving out important details. This place has way too much sauce, but it helps to authentic the dish. No dried shrimp, absent of eggs, few peanuts. But they had sprouts, carrots and cilantro so it was tasty. The chicken satay was nicely marinated and grilled to perfection. The portion size was adequate but the peanut sauce was a little thick, leaving me to believe it's not scratch made. That said, it had a nice flavor and a spicy kick to it. The fact that it wasn't served with cucumber/onion salad was a disappointment. I always love the balance of peanut sauce and vinegar liquid on the chicken. They convinced me to save money on my glass of wine by purchasing the entire bottle. My mistake was to agree without seeing the wine list. I purchased a $20 bottle of Pinot Grigio labeled 'Kirkland' from Costco. My fault. I'll definitely return while I'm staying in CO to try some other dishes. read more

I started ordering from Bann Thai a long time ago, great food and portions. However, today when I picked my order up I got home only to realize they gave me the wrong order. We moved up here about a year ago and have been trying to find a new Thai restaurant to replace our favorite back home. I think this is the one. We got the pad Thai and the drunken noodles for a great price considering the portions were huge. My partner was able to fill a normal-size dinner plate 3x! The drunken noodles were very saucy and flavorful, arguably a little oily but I don't mind that. I did medium-spice and it was about as hot as a medium salsa. The food was awful! The noodles were in small pieces, soggy as if they were days old and flavorless covered Jn a thick gelatin-like substance. There were almost no veggies and what little there were didn't seem fresh and were also soggy and flavorless. My last complaint is there is no option for choosing your spice preference so I asked that one out of the two we ordered be made extra spicy. Both came with zero spice at all. Bann Thai has declined over the years. The food quality is not what it used to be. As there is no longer a lunch menu, the prices are quite expensive for what you can get at other Asian restaurants in town. Maybe $3 more per dish and no egg roll or soup like other places that offer lunch. The two dishes we had, one noodle and one stir fry, tasted exactly the same. Came here after seeing that this place offered gluten free options on the Find Me Gluten Free app. I believe that this place is average at best, but has potential to be better. Let me explain why. When I arrived I parked outside in the diagonal parking and walked inside. The first thing that appealed to me is that this place has an exhaust problem. The smoke from the grill filled the restaurant so much that you can look up at the lights and see the smoke, throughout the entire restaurant. Getting a better exhaust system would clear this right up. I ordered the phad Thai... but mine I specifically asked for it to be "with chicken". Notice that it comes without chicken, but you can ask to have chicken put in it. I think it should be the other way around, if you ask me. I also asked for the Tom Kha Chicken spicy coconut soup. I waited for about 30 minutes for it to come out, on a Saturday evening. It was $19 dollars and change for the phad Thai and a cup of soup. My thoughts: The inside of restaurant is dated and needs a little care. There is too much clutter in some areas, that should be thrown out. They should put up a few fold up privacy walls to keep some of the cold air from getting to the tables every time someone walks in, during the winter season. There really needs to be better exhausts in the kitchen area, because the entire ceiling area throughout the entire restaurant was filled with smoke from the grills. Was it really bad? No, it could be tolerated, but nobody likes it either and it might stop some people from coming back to dine in. The prices are above average. $19 and change for phad Thai and a cup of soup. $15 for this order would be more reasonable, especially for the quality of food and the amount of chicken that comes in it. My phad Thai, with chicken, had chicken in it, but not a lot. It was a good size portion that filled me up, but it was mostly noodles. It would be nice if there was another piece of chicken in it and the chicken cut into smaller pieces so it can be mixed in better. The Tom Kha coconut soup was really good. I really liked it and I wish I could of had more. A great creation, but the price could be slightly better and the pieces of chicken and veggies in the soup could be cut slightly into more pieces. Lastly, even though the phad Thai says gluten free, and the Tom Kha soup supposedly is too, I felt my gluten allergy flaring up when I left. Basically a headache, tiredness, dizziness, and bloating. I took my gluten dissolver pill and felt better. I thought about it for a while, and I'm wondering if the chicken that I asked to be put in the meal was floured before it was cooked. It didn't taste like there was any soy sauce in it. Who knows. Make sure that all the ingredients you naturally use to cook, are gluten free! Use gluten free flour and gluten free soy sauce! For everything! If all of these issues here can be fixed, I do feel that this place has potential to earn another star. This was first time trying this place, and it's a good thing. I got the Pha Ram Long Song: "Peanut delight. Steamed sliced meat and broccoli in a creamy peanut sauce topped with shredded carrots. Served with steamed jasmine rice or brown rice." I got mine with chicken and jasmine rice - it was delicious. There was tons of chicken - none of it was chewy or gristly. I've always driven by the college location and thought, "I need to go check this place out." Finally today a friend suggested meeting at the Council Tree location as it is closer to where we live/work. I ordered the coconut, mushroom, tomato soup with tofu and the green papaya salad. The soup was really delicate in flavor with just the right amount of heat. The papaya salad was a bit salty, crunchy, vinegary and really good! Have frequented Baan Thai since moving to Fort Collins in summer of 2000. During Covid they were an excellent choice for carry out, the food was always very good, and service was fast and reliable. Now we enjoy both carry out and eat in service. Service is always friendly, although ordering by phone has sometimes been a little challenging with a bit of language barrier. I like to start with the Tom Kha Koon. The Panaang Curry is excellent, as are the Drunken Noodles. I also like the Phad Thai quite a bit. Actually, every dish I have had was delicious, it's just a question of what your taste is. The servings are generous, almost always sufficient for at least dinner and a lunch. I traveled weekly for over 14 years, and being a thai food fan, I always looked for the best thai in whatever city I was working in.
