He made an adjustment to my vacuum cleaner that hopefully will solve a couple of the issues I was having-if this does not resolve problems, I feel confident that he will help me make more adjustments. I went in here and I noticed that the white privilege card got pulled on me. I was standing in line waiting to waiting for my turn and there was a African-American guy behind me, and there was a white guy behind us and all of a suddenly the white guy asked a question and the clerk pointed the white guy to come up past me and the black when we were sitting there waiting for a turn patiently, I noticed that it was a white guy that asked the question. It was me a be black guy and then there was a white guy behind us. The clerk or owner (not sure who) actually pointed and told him to come to the front pass us and he helped him for a good 15 minutes while we waited another 15 minutes and I definitely felt they did this strictly on our race very disappointed in this. When I asked him that it was my turn he just pointed his finger at me and told me to wait. That was very insulting. Just the rude jester and everything. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're not white, but if you're white, you definitely should come here they'll definitely treat you right. Its 2025. I have always had great service from Banks Vacuum. I bought a vacuum from them several years ago and it still works fantastic. And If I do need a part, I know they will have it or order it for me. I have purchased several vacuum's over the years from Banks. Their service is always exceptional! Yesterday was no different. I was having difficulty replacing a belt on one of my upright vacuum's so I took it in to Bank's for assistance. Sadly the reason I had a problem was that the vacuum was on it's last leg. Mike Pekarek showed me what was wrong and I decided it was old and not worth the money for a major motor repair. I asked him to show me some replacement options. I was so impressed that he asked me my needs then started out showing me the lower cost models. As I tried different machines I asked to see a little more expensive models until I finally decided on the machine I purchased. Some places start out showing you the most expensive but Mike did not do that! I am thrilled with my purchase. Once I got it home I realized how bad my old machine had become. I told Mike I had a number of bags purchased from Bank's for my old machine and he kindly offered to trade them out for replacement bags for my new machine. I did that this morning. Walked into the Troy store with my mom. We were both in the market for a Miele. Dan, the sales associate was great from the start. Not pushy. He was honest about the differences between models to help us make a smart buying decision that met our respective needs. He was able to sell me a floor model that met my target price point. My mom bought the same model and she also got a great deal. I'm glad I decided to but local and skip buying online. I not only got a better price (including sales tax) locally, but two additional years warranty on the motor. That's 9-years on the motor and 2-years on the parts. Confessions of a vacuum abuser- I brought in a good Sebo vacuum that reeked from the copious amounts of dog and cat urine in my house (2 senior dogs and 4 cats engaging in pee wars). In addition, though I tried my best, the brush heads were beaten up from all the pet hair. Dan went through every part of my machine, and was able to clean and deodorize it. I wanted to write this review 7 months ago, but it got away from me... We bought a Miele cannister vacuum less than a year after we brought it in, because it was clogged up. I thought something was wrong with our very expensive, new vacuum. Instead of charging us, they cleared it out and cleaned it up, free of charge. They could have charged us, but they didn't. Dan was really helpful and friendly. He gave me a quick refresher on my vacuum. When I bought my vacuum, I was skeptical, because I thought that they were out for our money, even with a coupon, but after the great customer service, and price comps, I feel confident that they offered the best price at the time of my purchase. I have purchased two Miele vacuum cleaners from Bank's in Troy during my 30+ years in Michigan (my first canister went off to college with my daughter). The staff has always been very helpful and informative. Service is outstanding. After relocating to my hometown in Raleigh, NC, my Miele stopped working. Unfortunately the Miele distributor here (in business for 35 years) is nothing compared to the service I received from Bank's. I have been without my cleaner for over 4 months now and have gotten the repair excuses from the owner. I purchased a Dyson canister online from Bank's Vacuum. It arrived in a badly damaged unsealed factory box. I called the shop to confirm I purchased a NEW product and not a REFURBISHED or RETURNED one, they guaranteed that it was in fact NEW, but couldn't explain why the seal was broken and the box was damaged. They went as far as to add it should have two factory seals on each end of the box and should have been difficult to remove. One end of the box had a broken factory seal the other was closed up with clear shipping tape. I suspect I was sold a returned or refurbed product. I was planning on buying a Dyson upright, but will not purchase from Bank's again. I would not recommend purchasing online from this vendor, no matter how good the price. read more

I took my Bissell vacuum in because it was sucking the floor I was told it needed a belt. I left it to have a belt replaced and have it all cleaned up filters replaced and pretty much whatever it needed. We picked the vacuum up brought it home on the highest setting it was still sucking the carpet. I had to turn it to the second one which was still hard to push. it was also making a rattling noise that it never made before. ,We took the vacuum back the guy, I can't remember his name it may be Chris, tried it on indoor outdoor carpeting my carpeting is not indoor outdoor. I never had a problem with my indoor outdoor it vacuumed it perfectly. He said the vacuum was purring like a kitten. i've had this vacuum for four or five years I know how it sounds, it's not purring like a kitten. He told my husband that maybe the vacuum wasn't for me seriously I've had this vacuum for five years I loved it until they worked on it. He said they don't recommend vacuums with plastic parts, maybe he should take this up with Bissell, but he would put the money we paid for the repair towards a new vacuum. Really?? Like I would buy anything from him. I will be buying a new vacuum thanks to them "fixing" this one, but it won't be from there, and maybe he should keep his opinions to himself, I'll decide what vacuum is for me. You can say what you want but it's not true, he tried the vacuum on indoor outdoor carpet WHICH I DO NOT HAVE, on regular pile carpet you can't even push it, and the reason we just left is because the smart aleck remarks, we knew we were not getting anywhere, and we aren't going to stand there and argue with him, but the vacuum is not working right, and we told him that, and you can insist anything you want but the vacuum does not work properly. read more

We used to use United Vacuum for all our needs. So I decided to keep with the new company once Banks had bought them. I called to schedule my home vac to be serviced- it was not getting proper suction. I was a little frustrated in the process of getting someone scheduled..they do all the scheduling out of one location and it was difficult. I would say to the owners to work out this kink. A person should be able to call at their ( the customers) convenience and schedule an appt. - not be promised a return phone call which didn't come... I had to keep calling... so that was the down side of things.. However- when Sam came to our home he was wonderful!! He was able to find the issue and resolve it. He did a thorough check on all outlets to make sure they all worked. He discussed other things we need to watch for in the future and educated me on home system vacs. Sam is very knowledgable and extremely helpful!! I highly recommend Banks for vac servicing- and I know when we finally do need a new system we will head to Banks! Thanks again read more

I just came back a little while ago from Bank's Vacuum in Troy, having taken in my Kenmore vacuum, which had bitten the dust. It had served me very well for more than 10 years. I hoped to be able to repair it. Unfortunately, it was done for. Dan gently explained why the machine was no longer working (not stressing the fact that I had probably been the culprit for its demise). He then steered me to a vacuum that was the equivalent to mine He showed me all of the functions, which were almost identical to my old machine. I think he sensed, that I'm not good at change. :) The store put it together for me and away I went. In a time of businesses not knowing their products (inspite of their lip service) and NOT caring that they don't, in a time of impersonal, online, hands off ordering, it is wonderful to find a business that is there for you. I was all set to buy a vacuum here but couldn't decide between two models. Went home to think about it--they don't stock one of the kinds I'd been hoping to try, so I was hoping to get it out of my mind. Went on their website to compare features and realized they were charging $200 more in store for one of the ones I was considering than they were online. So I looked around on the web and realized that the online one wasn't on sale--it's the manufacturer's retail price. Which means they were just going to price gauge me for taking the time and trouble to come in. I could just order it from their website, but I'd rather deal with people whom I can trust. I've been a customer of Bank's Vacuum for over 10 years - I've purchased 2 Miele vacuum cleaners, which are super pricey, but they provide outstanding service at this store and have kept my vacuums in great shape. I just brought my machine in after clogging the hose (with a pen!), and Tim, the general manager, unclogged it at no charge. This is typical of their service. Can't say enough nice things about the staff and how friendly and thorough they are. I would definitely recommend purchasing a vacuum here - the service alone is worth it, and they are extremely knowledgeable, they don't pressure you to buy something outside your budget, and have a terrific selection of machines at all price points. read more

I live far (over an hour) from the store, I purchased a Miele product from this location. When the product gave me trouble, I brought it here. Dan has been a great advocate for us in dealing with the manufacturer and getting them to understand that the problem shouldn't have happened to us. He was able to be a great third party as the service would have to be covered by either us or the manufacturer (warranty).
