Came here for lunch today after my wife recently found this spot. It's really easy to find right off of McCormick; the plaza it's in has a decently-sized lot but still seemed pretty packed today. The interior is pretty clean and open but not too much actual seating for the amount of space it has. There are three tables that can seat four, one elevated table with two barstools, and some bar seating by the window. They also have a couple of small couches/benches by the TV and what I think was a karaoke setup. They have 10 different bahn mi on the menu along with a grilled pork rice dish, one pho dish, and several Vietnamese drinks/pastries/desserts. We went with the grilled beef bahn mi, grilled pork bahn mi (toppings on the side for both), and the grilled pork rice dish. The lady who took our order was very nice. Aside from us, the only other people seated were the owner and a few of his friends, but there were several people going in and out with to-go orders while we were there. The food came out pretty quickly and looked/smelled fresh with the bahn mi cut in half as requested. The toppings for the bahn mi came in their own sandwich bag on the side, and my rice dish came with a small bowl of soup which I almost mistook for fish sauce at first (unfortunately it wasn't, but the soup was still light and pleasant). The bahn mi are a little smaller compared to something you might get from Argyle, but I tried the grilled pork and it tasted great! Bread was both soft and slightly crunchy but not hard enough to cut the roof off your mouth, and the pork had a lot of flavor and was cooked well. Same goes for the grilled pork in my rice dish. Everything in this dish seemed on par with similar dishes I've had at other places (fried egg was nice and runny too), though this one doesn't come with Chinese sausage which was a little disappointing. Also disappointing was that they have Kikkoman brand fish sauce at the table which tasted more like soy sauce, rather than (what I assume is) the more traditional, lighter, and flavorful fish sauce that has an orange-ish color. I usually devour this dish with the right fish sauce, but using the Kikkoman brand took away from the experience, unfortunately. As we finished up I asked the owner what we should do with the plates and he said we can just leave them on the table. He was also very nice and friendly. All in all this is a place we can see ourselves coming back to! I'll just withhold on the bottled fish sauce next time.

A sampling of their #5 grilled beef banh mi.

We tried a carryout of a couple offerings of the banh mi sandwiches from this new eatery. All of their banh mi sandwiches, and there are 10 of them, go for $8. If you have been keeping up with banh mi prices, you will know that they have good, competitive pricing. We tried their #1 special cold cuts and their #5 grilled beef. It's also notable that not many places offer grilled beef banh mi so that is a plus. The carryouts were also packaged with the veggies in a separate plastic bag for sandwich freshness. The French bread was very fresh and the sandwiches were flavorful and delicious. Thumbs up!

I got the special banh mi or banh mi dac biet. Bread is very crispy and fresh and airy inside which I really like. Overall it was really good. I also got the banh cam or sesame balls and they made it freshly hot and I was surprised how big they are. Very good as well. Overall, I will be coming back here for their banh mi.

Number 1 "The Special". Crispy fresh bread, great tasting mayo. Very balanced and flavorful.

Friendly service, great sandwiches; fresh baked bread and fantastic "#1" sandwich. Veggie sandwich and fish patty also available, as well as a few different roast pork and grilled beef varieties. Pretty good bang for the buck at roughly $9 for most sandwiches.

Their banh mi is OK but very fresh. I like how they separated the pickles and veggies so the bread doesn't get soggy when you take home

Falcon's Handcrafted Sandwiches - Pork tenderloin sandwich

This is one of best sandwiches Ive had in a long time. The pork tenderloin was fried in buttermilk to the perfect crunchy texture w/the interior pork tender & moist. Add the green apple coleslaw for a great crunchy texture, the yellow mustard to add the perfect vinegary flavor & you have an awesome meal. This comes w/fries cooked to an excellent crunchy texture. They have a pretty extensive menu but this sandwich was so dam good I'm sure I will order it again. Yolanda was the server in Falcons. She did an awesome job being the only person working the dining room at the time. Look at this menu selection. There are so many items but you know how it is when you find something that is for me near perfection you know anything else you order will not live up to what you had. You will be left thinking that you had stayed w/the original option. Like they say once you've had the best why try the rest. Maybe after eating it multiple times I will be willing to try something else.

This little gem is a must try. My personal favorite is the chicken caesar wrap, but I've been happy…read morewith their sandwiches and burgers. They offer a student and teacher discount during the week, but even without it, the prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. The owner-chef, who previously worked for Eatly, also serves a variety of pasta dishes and gelato. They have a rotating soup menu and seasonal specials. During November, you don't want to miss the thanksgiving sandwich. I'm looking forward to finally trying the gelato this summer.

I was in the mood for a bagel and was happy to see the variety of bagels available. As well as…read moretheir specialty bagels available only on weekends such as garlic, salt, and blueberry. The staff was very friendly and informative as it was our first time here. Aside from bagels they have a variety of sandwiches, soups, and a pharmacy in the back! They have limited indoor seating but if it's a nice day, may be worth sitting outside on their patio.

I'm very disappointed with my experience with JB's Deli today…read more I ordered two Reuben sandwiches and a Cobb salad, with a total bill of approximately $65. The Reubens were OK, although I found them to be fairly dry. More concerning, however, was what happened with the salad. The Cobb salad came with two packets of blue cheese dressing. When I opened one and put it on the salad, I noticed that the color looked unusual. I checked the packet and discovered that the Best By date was November 23, 2025, nine months past the date. Obviously, I did not feel comfortable eating the salad and had to throw it away. It also left me questioning whether the other food I received was handled appropriately. I am now concerned about whether the Thousand Island dressing served on the Reubens was also expired. I attempted to contact the deli to give them an opportunity to address the issue. The first time I called, someone answered but there was dead air and then they hung up. I called again and explained the situation to a woman who answered. She apologized and asked me to hold a moment. I waited on hold for 10 minutes before giving up. When I called back again, no one answered. Mistakes can happen, but serving a customer two dressing packets that are nine months past their Best By date is a serious food-safety and quality-control issue. What has made the experience even more frustrating is that, after spending $65, I have been unable to get a meaningful response from the restaurant. For this reason, I will be disputing my credit card charge and will not be returning to JB's Deli. I hope management takes this seriously, reviews the dates on their prepared foods and condiments, and addresses how customer food-safety concerns are handled.

I orders the steak sando with a cafe con leche. The girl at the counter was super polite and quick with my coffee, the inside was very very clean with lots of local customers. Back to the sandwich, wow. Steak was tender, bread was perfect and the sauces were top tier. Coffee was VERY hot so it took me about 15 minutes to actually drink it but that's the only negative thing I have to say. I'll definitely be back Oh wait we came back the next morning for more coffees

What the?? Did Yelp delete my old Sissy's review?? Well, here we go again, Sissy's is really cool…read morebecause it's on the North Side, close to Albany Park, which is a favorite for foodies because of the vastness of food and cuisines. And the richness of the food around here is acceptable for all budgets, and I say all that to say that Sissy's falls into this category. I'm sure it's a favorite for North Park University students, which is just across the street. We like to come here and walk off our calories on the campus....Stay ripped Yelpers!! But back to Sissy's, this is perhaps our 5th or 6th visit and our favorites are their: - empanadas (beef and chicken) and enjoy that chimichurri sauce!! - grilled chicken or steak salad with mango dressing (5 stars) - steak Jibarito, so very legit, Puerto Rico in the house!! - last but not least, as a dessert, we have the Maduros (sweet plantains) with guava and that's topped with chihuahua cheese (although some people have this as an appetizer). Muchas gracias!! Muy bien!! Sissy's!!
