He ate very little of his meal. We really like Thai food - had it in so many cities and this place missed the mark for us. Local friends recommended so we are hoping this was an not a normal experience. They also dropped off the bill when they served the meal. We didn't really see that and sat some time before realizing we had the bill upside down on the large table. While convenient, it was a little odd for a $70 meal especially when it was clear my husband hardly touched his food they cleared from our table.

Not terribly on you unusual. The Tom Kha soup was sweet enough to overshadow the primary ingredient, the coconut milk. This is one of my staples, and this was the first time mostly I got was sweet. It was the highlight of my meal, and I would order it again, but I would steel myself for sweetness. I ordered the Pad Thai because it is the yardstick by which Thai restaurants are measured. A seemingly simple dish with a complex flavor profile. Let's start with the traditional sauce, usually made with tamarind pulp, fish sauce, and palm sugar. Instead, this seemed to have some sort of glucose sauce. No bueno. There also seem to be far less ingredients in this execution, resulting in a plate of noodles, fresh shrimp, ground peanuts, and a couple lime wedges. No sprouts for crunch. Nor anything else to round out a very basic preparation. Despite the award, this did not seem like a very happy interpretation of some really wonderful Thai dishes. They have different levels of spice and we usually opt for mild because my hubby has a sensitivity to heat. However, if it's just me, I might level up to medium. That (to me) is fire. I will be sweating, emptying the water carafe and blowing my nose about half way through. lol. As long as we stick to what we know, we are never disappointed. What I really enjoyed about it was that while the dish definitely tasted like 'Thai food', it was unlike any Thai noodle dish I've ever had before. The restaurant is located in a fairly new building storefront, and I parked in the street nearby. Decor is uncluttered, bright, and clean. I will try it again soon.
