We usually love Bangkok Kitchen, it's our go-to neighborhood Thai spot. This time though, the experience was a bit of a letdown. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken, extra spicy, but got shrimp with no spice at all. My wife had the curry shrimp and said it was missing flavor. The one highlight on the food side was the vegetable spring rolls - crispy and delicious. We called in our order, and as always, the staff was super friendly, which we appreciated. The Thai teas were great too. Maybe it was because we ordered close to closing time, but overall, the food just didn't hit like it usually does. Pretty torn but this place has been in its original location since I was 5 years old - I've finally had a chance to return here after 40 plus years. It's current under different ownership - so I can't tell you if the menu has changed much since age 5 , but the floors have been renovated and the menu is simple and traditional with original art and decor. I've always stuck with simple dishes - as well as always getting the hottest of the hot dishes. But this visit I wanted something simple so I opted for Thai Basil Fried rice with egg. Unfortunately the flavor didn't grab me and there wasn't much eggs in the dish. My mom got pad thai which the cook accommodated with thick sized noodles. Service was hospitable and very quiet which I liked - it was only myself and my mom. So if you like quiet and traditional menu then give this a try. It really pains me to write this review. Since the early 2000's I have been a customer having my first exposure to Thai food being this location. For years I would go to the lunch buffet, order take away, or have dinners with friends from out of town in need of great food. On 09/27 I placed an order online. Order accepted and headed to the restaurant only to find it was closed. Knock on the door, phone calls...all go unanswered. However, the transaction still showed as pending on my account. Today the cost posted. I was charged for a meal not received and unanswered calls. Should something have happened I understand, but issue a credit for the meal unfulfilled. Not only was the food incredible, but the service was exceptional--thanks in large part to the amazing owner, Kat. From the moment you walk in, she makes you feel welcome and ensured that every part of your experience is truly authentic to all things Thai. She is attentive, personable, and clearly passionate about providing a great culinary experience. She also does not sit still since she wears multiple hats. It's rare to see someone so involved in the day-to-day operations, and it really made a difference in how the evening went. The food itself was outstanding--everything from the freshest papaya Salad, perfectly spiced Drunken Noodles, tastiest mango sticky rice, to the surprise pour of whiskey at the end, was absolutely delicious. You can tell she takes pride in her food. The ingredients are fresh with nothing but high quality. It's clear that Kat runs a tight kitchen, and her team's dedication to great service really shone through (Mary the lead bartender and floor manager is amazing). (101 Drop) Durian: Was able to see and smell Durian for the first time which is a native fruit to Thailand, however, due to its potency and chemical makeup, one cannot eat Durian if you are drinking alcohol. The fruit smelled POTENT but apparently, it's one of the best tasting fruits! (101 Drop) Learned about "Eleven Tigers Herbal" which is a herbal packet that improves one's digestive system and appetite and assists in all things related to women's reproductive care. Kat ages it in one of her favorite liquors for extra potency. Also, the customers here quite the globetrotters. Being directly across from Fort Meade base, you are easily able to meet people from all over the world which leads to the best conversations. The restaurant itself is not that big, typical mom and pop restaurant. Parking is behind the building. There are two entrances to the restaurant, one on the main street and another behind the building where the parking lot is located. Inside the restaurant you can see alot of the Thai decorations. And the server greeted my husband and I right away once we steps in. Food wasn't bad at all. We ordered a Tom yum soup with chicken, a Green curry with tofu and vegetables, and a Crispy duck. This is the first restaurant that my husband encountered the server asking for the spicy level for the tom yum soup, which was a bit surprising to him. Because normally, it isn't a choice on the level of spicyness. But tbh, I think the soup spicy level is on point, but missing that lemon sour taste though. The green curry was pretty good, except I wish there would be more curry. I feel like enough ingredients but not enough curry when the curry is the main source of the dish. The crispy duck tastes pretty good too. Fairly tender, and very flavorful. But expects alot of chewing from the crunchiness. My son had the shrimp soup aka Thoum Yum with shrimp and I had it with chicken. He had a Thai Tea. I had cashew chicken dish mild and my husband had the Red Curry medium spicy. For some reason, I had an insatiable craving for Pad Thai while I was on my way home from work. I decided to order from Bangkok Kitchen as I'm trying to find other Thai restaurants that are closer to home. I placed my order online as my train was getting ready to pull into the station. By the time I arrived at the restaurant, my food was ready. Bangkok Kitchen is located in a little strip mall that looks kind of sketch. The parking can be found behind the building and there's an entrance to the restaurant at the back as well. As for my Pad Thai, I found that different places make it differently. Some add tofu, others don't. Some add bean sprouts, others don't. This is the place that adds bean sprouts and tofu to their Pad Thai and I could've done without both. That is just something to keep in mind for the future. Also, the shrimp were a little overcooked. Aside from that, my Pad Thai was good and flavorful. From other reviews, it appears their drunken noodles are a hit. Drunken noodles is my favorite Thai dish and I'll have to try it next time. The service was okay I guess. So I personally know the owner of the restaurant and we have became really cool with each other. She's amazing in so many ways. The food is authentic and flavorful! Kat is very sweet! I have been going to this restaurant for months now and have even gotten to know the server and the new cook. Apparently the server/cashier started to hit on my husband while we were at the bar numerous times without me looking. My husband has ignored the situation and said he will handle it. Well the cashier from BKK went up to my husband at the bar next door to this place and saw I wasn't there. My husband gave him the cold shoulder thinking that because I wasn't there , this was his opportunity to come in and take my husband. The cashier was in his feelings and we stopped talking to the cashier as well as the cook. I went over as of 12/20/2023 to order some food. The cashier and the cook saw me and completely ignored me and so Kat (the owner) took my order. Kat said she would personally bring my food over to the bar when it was cooked. I ordered the Num Tok and the Lemongrass soup which usually is good. The num tok HAD NO FLAVOR AT ALL AND THE LEMONGRASS WAS HORRIBLE. I texted Kat and told her what happened. I got a refund for the soup and she went in the kitchen and made the num tok beef herself and her husband brought my refund as well as the food. Kat and her husband are great people. The place was entirely remodeled when we arrived to pick-up, so I'm not sure if ownership changed hands or what, but the quality was definitely not what I'm used to. I always get the drunken noodles with beef and it's been perfectly oily (in the best way), soft, spicy, full of heat. Got the same order this time around and it tasted flat and not spicy at all. I committed a cardinal sin by adding my own soy sauce and sriracha to it - but that's just how bland it was. We were the biggest supporters, ordering four orders of the drunken noodles (at a time!) atleast once a month, and now not sure if we'll return. This is a well-established Thai restaurant serving the Ft. Meade, Severn , Hanover, and Odenton area. Prior to COVI, they offered a decent lunch buffet that was quite convenient for workers in the immediate area. They are still offering a sizeable menu of entrees for dining in and take out. As many reviewers here have commented, the recipes have changed since the restaurant switched owners a while back. A lot of the dishes have become more sweet and less savory and spicy like they used to be. Preparation of the food is still okay, as things like the Duck with Basil are fried hot and crispy. But the flavors are not the same. Overall the quality of cooking seems to have gone down from what it was before. The staff will work with you to try and make your food the way you want it, but that is not always helpful in every case. Service is friendly and cleanliness are good. We have not had many issues with getting orders wrong. Take-out is packaged well. They will even separate the sauces to keep entrees fresh when applicable. If you set your expectations that the food may be a bit on the sweet side, this can still be a good experience. It just doesn't match our tastes as well as it used to. read more

I've been slacking! We got takeout last Thursday and I'm just now writing this. We are mostly not sharing now because one of us can't have garlic, onions, or spicy stuff. So she chose something that seemed sort of bland. After tasting DD's honey duck, I wish I had gotten it! Far from bland, it had layers of flavor and I (almost) didn't miss garlic. I chose the ka pow chicken dish, with " #1 spice " which is meant to be mild or medium. I have to say, it was on the verge of too hot for me. My SIL had the crispy kapow chicken and said the #5 level was respectable spice level. Meaning I couldn't have eaten it. DGD wanted summer rolls but we found that the ordering menu (not to be confused with the temporary menu or regular online menu) doesn't include those. We got spring rolls for her but they were a no-go. I thought they were good ;) Everything was very fresh and hot since we are so close to the restaurant. No fuss, no frills thai food. We came in for indoor dining (unmasked since we are vaxxed). You order at the counter and pay there as well. We got the pad thai, the tom kha gai and a chicken dish. My bf got thai medium spicy for the pad thai and yeah I tried some and it is nooot for the faint of heart. It's spicy. The chicken dish I got was good but it was a little sweeter than I anticipated. I love Thai food so I'm critical when giving out stars. I went to my favorite Thai restaurant last night with my three sons in tow. I studied the menu but let's be real, I knew what I wanted when I walked in the door. My comfort food of choice is Drunken Noodles with Shrimp. Those flat noodles that are slightly charred in some places, spicy in others were tossed into n aa bunch of flavor that to this day I don't know what it is. All I know is that it's a generous portion that rarely goes uneaten. It's really THAT good! My boys ate all of their meals and all is great in the world. Treat yourself! I was sadly disappointed by this establishment. I picked up some lunch for my friend and myself and got a shrimp drunken noodle and beef pad thai. The drunken noodle had 1 shrimp in it... 1 shrimp. :( The pad thai was very dry and it was just a clump of noodles that couldn't be pulled apart. I got off work to pick up some food to bring home for dinner and when I got home, I opened my container of sticky rice and it has mold in it. I reached out to the restaurant and they sounded annoyed with me. I told them I was disappointed that they don't make the sticky rice fresh everyday and as you can see in the response is what I got. I know how to make sticky rice, I grew up making it and eating it. It takes about 1-2 weeks for mold to grow on it. I'm seriously disappointed because I have been going to this restaurant since 2015 and moved away for a couple of year just to come back to poor customer service and bad attitude for compensation and NO I never got my refund by the way. read more

The place doesn't look like much but I have found that usually the best places for Thai food do seem a little bit on the divey side. The place is set up messy with random decorations kind of thrown into any corner they can be to make room. The drunken noodles were excellent but the pineapple fried rice left something to be desired and didn't have much flavor. The green curry was decently good but too spicy for me to have for leftovers. Pick up was very prompt and will you were able to pick up her order in less than 25 minutes over all a very easy experience. The first time my food was not ready for about 20 minutes after I was told it would be. The Basil Rice was ok. The portions have been mediocre given the price and the chicken has had a strange taste. This place is underrated. I didn't expect much when we first came, it was just a restaurant that was open near the base. I came from a area that had lots of Thai food. This place may have a small menu, but there are certain gems on there. I highly recommend the yellow curry (which btw is not usually my go to) & their fried rice. Usually I go for red curry but that might be their weakest one surprisingly. Get yellow, then green if you want a change. It's our go to now. You can tell they make it from scratch and you can really taste the aromatics/seasonings in the yellow curry. If you are not accustomed to Thai spice levels, I highly recommend going lower on the star rating. Every place is different & this place doesn't mess with lacking heat levels so be careful lol. I personally enjoy very spicy dishes but even I normally don't go past 3 stars at this location. Anyway, glad to have access to fresh delicious Thai food close by. read more
