Ginger Beef with Sweet & Sour on a bed of rice

Delightful local business with the finest quality, tasty ingredients with plenty of food to go around served mostly in such a way that one can share. Returning patrons get personable service.

In my opinion, this is the best Thai restaurant in the city, bar none. The restaurant is very small, it has maybe 10 tables in total, and I really like that because it's always quiet and more intimate, perfect for a date night. The food here is truly incredible, my absolute favourites are the Pad Thai with shrimp, and the Matsaman curry with coconut rice. I prefer a little bit of spice, but they will ask you how spicy you like it. I've eaten here many times and never once been disappointed by anything on the menu. They also are setup to do delivery, which is always convenient! The average price for a dish is around $17.00 but the quality of food is definitely worth the price. I love it here and I know I'll be back again.

Delicious! Incredibly delicious - is the word. What can I say? I did say I would give it another try - well.. I finally did - went in to dine in this evening and it really levelled up my experience. ***more stars for Ban Thai's food** :)) YAYYY! Of course... as you know it. I dragged my Aussie bf to this Thai restaurant when he wasn't the least hungry at all. -_- ***clever me*** hehe! We ordered the following: Appetiser - 4. GARHI PAP (4pcs) $7.00 Curry Puff. Deep fried with curried pork. Verdict - real tasty, I definitely prefer this over East's restaurant's curry puffs tbh. It's a WIN! Even my Aussie bf loved it and ordered it twice because it was that delicious. Yum Yum! Not at all spicy wrapped in a nice soft pastry. 5. SATAY (4pcs) $9.00 Skewered chicken or pork with peanut sauce. Marinated and charbroiled. Verdict - The chicken was succulent, tender and goes beautifully with the peanut sauce. Oh my Oh my! I think I'll be dreaming about this chicken satay when I sleep tonight.***with a pool of drool***oops Main - 54. GAENG KIEW WAAN A potent, creamy, green coconut curry with fresh basil, red and green peppers, snow peas. Your choice: beef, pork or chicken 12.50 Shrimp, squid or orange ruffy fish 14.50 The verdict : It says potent... don't be fooled my fellow friends. Just be sure to order coconut rice to go with it. It's that great. The rice is flavourful and goes perfectly well with the green curry. I love eating spicy food and of course that shows that I can eat real spicy stuffs like vindaloo curry with extra spicy dose to it. Ok.. just to make it a point, even my aussie bf who can't eat that spicy of food than I can, he seemed to love this green curry and find it quite low in its level of spiciness. Another WIN! We hopped away as happy as a bunny. Our tummy - as u guessed it - well satisfied and nicely rounded. :) Just a note on the side: Be sure to bring on a massive dose of patience and sense of consideration as you'll need it. The main server is an elderly gentleman who is also the owner of the restaurant. You would be expected to hold on to that menu for 10-15 minutes before he comes around (depending on the number of covers) to take your order followed by serving up your drinks. Remember: understanding is key. The way to enjoy your experience in this restaurant is to focus mainly on the food. After all give some respect to this older gentleman and his wife. I salute to them. They are doing a great job so far since this restaurant is never ever empty. Great food nonetheless!

Would give this zero stars. Received old food. Everything was dried out and rock hard. No sauce in the stir fries- it had all soaked into the noodles. Absolute garbage. Called the manager and she did not care. Claimed she cooked it and it was fresh- yea maybe yesterday. We ordered $90 worth of food- ate half a plate and threw the rest away

Ordered Pad Thai to go and I am not entirely sure what I got. It was unlike any Pad Thai I have ever eaten. It went straight to the trash.

It's also generally quiet enough to have a nice conversation, if you're a talker like me. The service was quick and friendly, and they were very good at reccomending dishes! We found this particularly helpful for choosing what meat/protein to put in our meals, and we all agreed that they knew what was best. As for the food, it was the most absolutely wonderful and authentic Thai I have ever had. Every dish was flavourful, fairly priced, and came in a huge portion! We have never gotten a single bad thing there (and we experiment often), and we have never left without takeout containers full to the brim. The leftovers are always amazing, too. I could go on and on about how much I love this restaurant, truly. What a lovely place to dine in St Albert that I wish I had discovered so much sooner! If you're interested in what to try, my favourites are the Pad Thai with chicken, or the Pad See Eiw with chicken or tofu. I'm not a beef lover, but they make it quite well there I will say. The curries are quite good but some of them get fairly spicy, at least for me. The peanut curry is definitely my favourite! As for appetizers, they have these excellent deep-fried crab and cream cheese dumplings that I can never get enough of! Be aware though, there are lots of peanuts used in recipes, so be careful if you have an allergy.

Tried this place twice about a month apart, the food is great but there's inconsistent portions and service can a bit slow as it's a mom & pop restaurant. Seating arrangements are ok but can definitely could use a deep clean/upgrade - old time hole in the wall look, feel & vibe. During our latest visit, the restaurant opened up a few minutes late as owners were running a bit late. Service was slower as there was only one person attending 6+ tables that came in about the same time. The food tasted great but again was inconsistent with portions & plating. We both ordered the same Pad Thai Tom yum at the same time & one plate completely was missing mushrooms & lacked bean sprouts while the other had an abundance. The rice curry dishes are good but could use a much bigger portion of rice.

Service was great, very attentive crew. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, no gaudy or cheesy decor. Small , quaint restaurant (I think seating for about 40-ish). We got there shortly before 2pm, was seated right away. It looks like they close at 230 (Sunday) and then reopen at 4 for dinner service. The server did come around before 2pm to ask if there's anything else that we want to order before they shut the kitchen. We appreciated that. Highly recommend them. We will definitely come back and I'll try the salmon Penang curry next time!

But there it was, this bright green little gem. Covid has been tough - they closed completely when dine in was shut down and are just starting to rebuild business (I don't think they do take out but I'm not 100%). It was completely dead when we were there, minus one other table - and they still kept filling the food with fresh items. They kind of fall under the radar, maybe because they're not as flashy as other places? But they are yummy with super nice people - if you're considering hotpot, it's worth checking out! A few things to note: it's one of the cheaper AYCE hotpots in the city (I think it was $26 + $2 for broth - other places are $35-40). AYCE only.
