    SPICY THAI BASIL aka Kaprow

We flew in to LAX to see a concert the following evening and were feeling the urge to have Thai food. After looking around, decide upon Bangkok Grill and took an Uber over. The service was great, but the only confusing thing for me was deciphering the American names for all the dishes when I'm used to the Thai names utilized in restaurants many of the other places I travel and live. No biggie! I was able to educate the server what each dish meant and how it was said in Thai. The place was clean and peaceful; the food was wonderful! I couldn't eat the whole thing so are the other half for lunch the following day. The cooks made a special Prik nam pla sauce for our Kaprow dish and topped it with an egg which put it over the top!

Bangkok Grill is a solid spot for some Thai food. The service is decent, the ambiance isn't bad, and the food satisfies the craving for Thai food. They have a large selection of options, so the menu might be overwhelming to some, I recommend checking it out beforehand. Reasonably priced dishes and good serving sizes too (all the main dishes came with a side of rice). I want to come back and try a few of the other dishes, below is everything I tried this time: 5/5 - Pad Thai: wonderful pad Thai exactly what I expected, probably the safest option to order if you don't know what to get. 4/5 - Red Curry: not as thick of a curry as I had expected, but still pretty good. 3.5/5 - Spicy Pineapple: a very unique dish that seems like a stir fry of sorts with giant pineapple chunks. I liked the concept, but it wasn't very spicy, also pretty light. Food: 4/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Value: 4/5 Overall: 3.75/5

I found Bangkok Grill scrolling through YouTube shorts. Bangkok Grill is located in Hawthorne, right off 129th Street. Let's jump right into this review. This is a family owned business, and I loved the service we received. The owner(s) was genuine and engaging. Just down to Earth, folks. I felt like I was talking to my next-door neighbor...the neighbor you invite over for the cookout (lol). What did we have? THAI FRIED RICE - $18.00 choice of meat stir-fried with egg, onion, green onion, and tomato garnished with fresh cucumber Meat Choice - chicken - Flavorful and delicious! GARLIC PEPPER -$15 choice of meat sauteed with fresh garlic and pepper served on a bed of steamed vegetables Meat Choice - shrimp - This is it! Talk about a dish with tons of flavor and spice. The vegetables were steamed to perfection. The broccoli was a beautiful green color, had a crunch, and was a nice compliment to the dish. ORANGE CHICKEN - $15 crispy battered chicken coated in homemade sauce - great flavor, but the outside coating was overpowering. More batter than chicken. EGG ROLLS - $8 mixture of vegetables wrapped in egg roll skin, deep fried and served w/ sweet & sour sauce - Wasn't a bad starter. On the small size, but you get six egg rolls in the order. Pros 1. Exceptional customer service. 2. Beautiful atmosphere, nicely decorated. 3. Extremely clean. 4. Quality food. The flavor in the dishes we ordered was absolutely amazing. Large portions. Cons 1. Seating inside is limited. 2. The parking lot is small, depending on how busy it is,parking could be a challenge. Check out Bangkok Grill and support a family owned business. The food is delicious, loaded with flavor. They don't compromise quality.

Was meeting a friend in Hawthorne and suggested meeting at a Thai place. Any Thai place. He picked here. As I was waiting for him to arrive, I noticed alot of people picking up to go orders. This was already a good sign to me. When he got there we went in. The dining area was shaped like an L and had nice decor and a calming atmosphere. I was craving pad see ew so I ordered that, ans we shared some avocado rolls. Man I didn't expect the pad see ew to hit so hard! Absolutely devine! If I'm in Hawthorne again, I'm stopping to try another dish for sure!

Delicious food and close by and they offer a discount for school employees. In this economy every bit counts and they were very nice.

Food is good. Not great but the service is very poor. If not for service being bad it would have been a 4 or. Even 5.

Also, they accept card! Not cash only. Nice. Anyway let's talk about the food. I love me some Thai hainan chicken so I had some expectations. Let's gooo. White meat hainan with garlic rice - 8/10 This was really good for the price. I think the meal cost $14 and it came with a cup of broth and dipping sauce. Chicken was cooked without being too dry. Hainan chicken lacked in flavor but the condiments made up for it. I mixed ginger and all the chili in the sauce and enjoyed it. Garlic rice was really good without any raw bits of garlic. Broth was a bit MSG heavy but whatever I still killed it lol Zaab crispy chicken with garlic noodle - 7/10 Zaab crispy chicken was perfectly seasoned, and the sauce didn't make the chicken skin soggy which was a huge plus. The chicken stayed crunchy until the end of the meal. The garlic noodles, though, were a letdown. They were really greasy and lacked flavor. I had to use a lot of the condiments just to give it some taste. Next time, I'd order the Zaab chicken with garlic rice instead. Fried shrimp - 8/10 This was really good. Easy to finish in once sitting. It was just lightly seasoned shrimp wrapped in a fried wonton wrapper. It came with a side of sweet and sour sauce that I barely used. It didn't even need it tbh. Overall, this place was worth a try especially for an affordable hearty meal. Service was quick and menu had lots of options. If you're in the area and want some quick Thai food, check this place out!

Came in for a quick soup for this cold and this was the perfect place for it!…read more Service was friendly and attentive. My Thai tea was perfect and so was my iced water. I got the Tom yum chicken noodle soup and it was a hearty serving it came with a side salad. Everything was yummy in both dishes, only down fall for me would be that I cannot request it spicy. Yes they give you chili paste, powder and pickled chili but none of it was spicy enough. That's just a personal preference but the soup alone was so flavorful and full of noodles and mushrooms. I could not have asked for more perfect serving of soup lol I appreciate the specials, a lovely place to dine in solo or with some friends.

It has been years since I've been to Thai Dishes Manhattan Beach but today I made it back to this…read morespot. I've always been a fan of their lunch specials and I was curious to see how it is years later. Their lunch specials now is what they call "Street Food Lunch." They've got 20 different items for $15.95 to choose from and each dish comes with their house salad with sesame dressing. This lunch special is served until 2pm daily. I was impressed with the variety that the Street Food Lunch menu offered. I love how they had some classic favorites as well as unique dishes that aren't commonly found. They had House Noodle Soup, Ba Mee Hung, BBQ Roasted Duck, Mint Leaves with Ground Chicken, Cashew Nut Chicken, Kao Pao Crispy Pork Belly, Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly, Pad Thai Noodles with Shrimp and Chicken, Ba Raan Noodle Soup, Kao Soi Chicken, Mixed Vegetable, Garlic Pepper Pork, Spicy Eggplant Tofu, Spicy Fried Rice Chicken, Tom Yum Kai Noodle Soup, Pad Kee Mow Chicken, Pad See You Noodle with Beef and Chinese Broccoli, Kang Karee Chicken, Kang Pad Beef and Green Curry Shrimp. Certain dishes you could substitute protein for an extra $1 or add egg for $2. I was actually pleasantly surprised that several of the dishes already included egg. It was hard to choose from the good variety of items but my friend and I chose to get their Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly and their Kao Soi Chicken. The Kao Soi Chicken was beautifully plated. It came with a tall stand of fried egg noodles on top of coconut curry broth with chicken, egg noodle, onions and pickled package. The Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly came with lots of pork belly with stir fried Chinese Broccoli and sides of white rice and fried egg. Both dishes were delicious! I loved the creamy, rich coconut curry curry broth from the Kao Soi Noodle. There was lots of tender chicken in the soup and it paired well with the egg noodles I also tried my friend's dish and appreciated the crisp pork belly and flavorful Chinese Broccoli. The Thai flavors were on point! I definitely want to come back and try more of their Thai Street Food. I enjoyed lunch here very much. Not only were the entrees flavorful, they were also large in size. I even had enough for dinner. I am excited to try their other dishes like the Tom Yum Kai Noodle Soup and the Kang Karee Chicken.
