New location, same old good taste. The food is always up to standard. The staff are nice. With this new location, it's much more comfortable to dine in. Thai decoration is pretty to look at. Overall enjoyable experience. They have been in business for almost 30 years. Well, that should say something. Love the chicken wings and beef satay. Can't go wrong with these two things. read more

Update: Bumping to 5 stars. I have been a dozen times since November and the initial evaluation was too guarded. It's their 15th anniversary year and they are running as dinner special: 1 app or soup and plate of 3 pepper Drunken Noodles. Last night I went for it Tom Yum w/ shrimp and I aksed for 4 pepper version. Very eyebrow perspiring good. The owner came to check on me twice. If someone has been to the Roslindale location PM me. YASMG (Yet Another Strip Mall Gem). They close at 9:00pm, we rushed in at 8:23pm, we ordered immediately and were eating our appetizers five minutes later. The Tom Yum (with Shrimp) soup was better than most Boston Thai restaurants. The Pad Thai was a tad on the wet side and prepared with thinner rice sticks, it was good not great. The Satay was cooked perfectly and not dry. I like a spicy Satay sauce, this one was not spicy but decent. We also tried a Penang Curry, we were curious as this is not a staple on Thai menus. The sauce was orange and adequately spicy. The room is decorated in Thai/Buddhist uber kitsch motif, which only adds to the appeal for me. * Not just good for the burbs, this is good Thai for MA. * Service was quick and polite, but not too friendly, we were interlopers after all. Me and friends have been coming here for years...usually before a Great Woods/Tweeter/Comcast Show (Name keeps changing) in Mansfield. We originally were just looking for something different from the fast food places and pub grub stops in the area. What an unassuming looking place from the outside, we thought. Inside, it's small and with either a handful of customers or quite busy, but we never had to wait to get a table. Now I'll be efficient...enough with the story: 1) Pleasant Thai decorations to occupy your senses; 2) no wait to order; 3) extremely pleasant and respectful staff (no unnecessary interruptions); 4) some of the best Thai food I've ever had and that's 5) ...been consistent for over 13-14 years of going there; 6) very quick service from order to arrival of food; 7) always feel healthier leaving there 8) have tried just about every thing on the menu and nothing has disappointed; 9) don't forget to try the ginger ice cream if you have room as the 10) portions are more than satisfying and lastly; 11) sincere wishing us a "good show" and "hope to see us again soon". My wife and I just dined at the Bangkok Café and to call this place a neighborhood gem would be an understatement. Walking up to the restaurant you are thinking, "hmm, a strip mall huh?" But the glorious aroma of Thai cuisine filled the air and any in trepidation that I had quickly passed. Inside, the place is great. It's a very quaint dining room with lots of Thai stuff to look at. The service was great, very friendly and efficient. But the food...man oh man... It was awesome. We split an order of chicken satay, BBQ pork loin, and the Bangkok Basil with Beef. All were awesome!! I am so happy we have leftovers for tomorrow and am excited to have a found a great Thai place in my town. Next time we'll get a little more adventurous with our order! read more

Ate here for the first time last night with my wife. Surprised at how busy the dining room was for a "take-out-type-place", but it reassured us that the food was going to be good. Will preface by saying that the wife and I are pretty new to Thai food and she wasn't feeling quite as adventurous as I was, so we went with some of the more "safe" items. Service was very polite, responsive, etc., my only issue in that regard is the wife's entree came out a few minutes after mine. Appetizers: Thai Rolls - meh, average spring rolls. Should have tried something a bit more adventurous. Tom Yum Soup - very good. Fresh, good balance of hot & spicy (I would ask for it a little spicier next time though). Small-ish portion, enough to get you started. Entrees: (Her) Thai Garden - steamed veggies and tofu with peanut sauce. It wasn't my thing. The steamed veggies we just blah. Who would think that this unsuspecting strip mall Asian restaurant could turn out such great food? We did take out, and the ride home was painful, it smelled so good, and the taste lived up to the expectations. Everything was perfectly prepared, with well-done and well-balanced seasonings. Fresh produce and protein was clearly evident in everything. I'm not a Thai food expert, but I was extremely happy with the place. My uncle talks about this place all the time, so when my girlfriend and I found ourselves in Foxborough one day, we decided to stop here for lunch. The inside is cozy and the staff seemed friendly enough. We ordered tom yum goong, beef basil, and pad thai. The food arrived quickly, which I appreciated. From there, though, it all went downhill. They must have slipped up when making the tom yum goong because the broth just tasted like water. When the waiter came over to ask how everything was, he didn't bother waiting for an answer - he just nodded and walked away before I even said anything. We ended up eating the shrimp out, leaving two more or less full watery bowls on the table. The beef basil was pretty good. I asked them to make it as spicy as they could and they certainly delivered. The pad thai, though, was a huge disappointment. As soon as the waiter brought it out, my girlfriend and I looked at each other and just sighed. It was just... dull. No color. Nothing in it. My boyfriend and I live down the street and are sad to know that this gem has been right around the corner from us for the past year - and yet we are discovering it during our last month in town. Their thai iced tea is delicious and we order it every time. He usually gets the siam sizzler, and I the chicken pad thai and it is perfect every time. We have been there about three times and the servers know us already, and what we like to order! Service has always been good, and the food excellent - it is usually very quick too! read more

This was my first visit and not my last. This place should be full all of the time. It is good. We had Tom Yum soup that was very very good. Rich and great balance of flavors. Next was beef satay. Cooked perfectly. Shrimp pad thai that was loaded with shrimp. Very tasty but a bit mushy. They use a very thin noodle. Huge portion. Then we had Lovers 2 or something. This was chicken and shrimp in a very tasty sauce. A lot of sauce. Lots of veggies, shrimp and chicken. They did not skimp at all. This is a very nice place, spotless clean, very friendly and super fast service. Very large menu. I don't understand why it wasn't crowded. It should be. I'll be back for sure. read more

I must SHARE THIS GEM, it's been getting busier and busier over time. First off the review of Cameron R.Milford, MA, is a bit off base as everyone can see by my soup pic. I've had a lot of Thai food all over the world in my time, maybe you are used to hotnsour or just real hot Tom Yum to mask the goodness is my guess which a lot do. Bangkok's is always perfect, Lemon Grass, fresh mushrooms, chicken or shrimp...see the pic. It is ALWAYS perfect and spicy to clear the nose..always,. and the Pad Thai is awesome, crushed peanuts, scallions/onions, egg. Express Chicken is great choice for very healthy and not spicey dish. Thanks to all at Bangkok Cafe: Danny, Todd, Fong, Bobby, Uwie, and everyone we can't see! - we owe you so much gratitude for such great food and health all these years. I am sure to my dismay you are going to get more and more crowded...the internet will help see to that!! and all us Bangkok Cafe Lovers!! Only been here once so far, but it was very good. Many folks at my work get takeout from here at lunch, and it seems this place does most of its business in takeout. We went here on a Friday night when most restaurants are packed and this place was nearly empty, though at least four people came in to pick up takeout orders while we were there. Out of what I've tried so far, the pad thai was my favorite. We got it with tofu, and that was the best tofu I ever had. Kinda leathery and full of flavor on the outside, and melt-in-your-mouth soft on the inside. I'm not really a huge fan of tofu, but I was looking for the chunks of tofu in this because they were so good that I didn't want to leave any behind. read more

I love the food at Bangkok Cafe but the service has gotten much slower since they moved into their larger space. They have not hired additional wait staff to manage the extra tables. The kitchen seems to be quick enough, but the wait staff although kind, are just too busy to manage all the people hoping to get their order taken, plates cleared or check reconciled. If you want excellent, fresh Thai food then I recommend take out from Bangkok Cafe. read more

I had the sizzling beef dish with two orders of rice and can't get enough of it. Cute, cute, cute! This place seems to be quite a solid place to get some Thai food. The Thai Iced Tea was yummy and the Tom Yum soup was good. The drunken noodles were excellent. The vegetables were a little more "al dente" than they should be. If this place was more conveniently located for me, I would certainly be tempted to visit more often. I was torn between giving them 3 or 4 stars but I felt that 3 stars was more appropriate. The restaurant is a cute mom and pop type of place and I was comfortable eating there. Fantastic Thai food and excellent service. My ONLY complaint is that it's a bit small inside, so when there are a lot of people it can get crowded. This place is a weekly staple as I crave it when I go too long without it. Price is right. Daily lunch special is chicken & vegetable in some type of chili garlic sauce plus wonton soup for $7.95! Everything I've ever ordered from here was spot on. Even the soup is great. The kitchen is very fast and you get your order quickly. The spice level consistency isn't always there. Sometimes I can eat a 4-star dish no problem and other times they over-do it on the 2-star. I usually get a 3-star on everything as I love spicy food, but the last time I did, I think I gave myself IBS in one meal cuz I was hurting for days. Holy HOT! Chicken Satay was perfect too, once I got to the main dish I was full. The Bangkok Basil was bit too spicy for my taste but still very good and I know my spouse would have loved it just as it was. I have been here once and hesitate to come back due to the ownership. The food is outstanding but the owner seemed lackadaisical. It was a busier night then normal for them and SIGNIFICANTLY understaffed. We stood there waiting for a table for about 30 minutes even while there were clean empty tables. We watched his staff run around taking orders, bringing out drinks, bringing out food, clearing tables, etc. without even a minute to breathe. The caucasian owner stood at the front handling take out orders (not many may I add), and couldn't even lift a finger to clear some tables or even seat guests at open tables. This speaks volumes. At many points in time, he stood there with his arms crossed staring into the restaurant. How hard it is to walk 3 parties to a table with menus? Why wouldn't you want to assist your hard working staff? read more
