I believe this is a chain boulangerie in Paris since I've seen a couple of locations. But this location is the one I frequent when I was in Paris. It was down the street from my apartment and on the same street as monoprix/franprix which made mornings easy for me. After I picked up eggs and jambon from either supermarkets, I would go to Banette and pick up either a small baguette or chocolate croissant.
The lady at the counter was always so friendly and patient with me. She didn't speak English, but my limited French always passed. All I had to say was "Bonjour, je voudrais une petite baguette (or un pain au chocolat)" and when she asked which one, she would point it out and I would just say "oui, merci". Then I proceed to pay and go on with my day. No rude comments or rude attitude. I tried going to another bakery in the area that seemed more popular with lines out the door, but the cashier there was so rude and stuck up. After that, I decided to come here instead and I'm glad I decided to.
Although this is a chain, don't underestimate it. I think it's pretty on par with most bakeries in Paris. The baguette was fresh and didn't need any heating up or toasting (what I love about getting fresh baguettes in Paris) The crust was crunchy and the insides was soft. The pain au chocolat was flaky, crispy on the outside, and not too sweet. The prices was pretty great too; €1.10 for pain au chocolat and I think €.58 for the small baguette. I will definitely continue coming here ever time I'm in Paris. read more
