I didn't really taste much hazelnut flavour, and it was still really sweet for my tastes (I guess I should have ordered quarter sweet). It didn't have a strong tea flavour either. Fortunately, it wasn't too rich nor too creamy. I didn't get that much tapioca, but I guess it was ok because I found the tapioca too mushy. The place looked clean and service was fine. I've had better bubble tea, but I've also had much worse, so this place is ok. Maybe other flavours are better. Also, I just had bubble tea and didn't try their food or other offerings like shaved ice. I love shaved ice, so might have to return to try that :)

Shaved ice left a lot to be desired. Not a lot of flavor, strawberries did not look very fresh and the portion was pretty small for the price ($7 I think?). This place does get pretty busy because it is one of the go-to student spots for some Taiwanese food and bubble tea so do be wary of that. Service was fast and seating was comfortable. Would return to try a few more desserts or when I'm craving bubble tea although I have heard from some friends that they take a long time to make bbt.

This place came highly recommended though so I stopped in and decided on a matcha tea and red bean bubble tea with white pearls. The place was clean and roomy, the staff were friendly (and even tried to persuade me to take away a free mango tea also, but there's only so much one person can drink) and the selection of teas was extensive. While I can't compare to the other places yet, my tea was great and I'd totally recommend this place if you're wandering around Princess Street craving bubble tea!

My husband and I did a day trip to Perth as a part of our staycation. Before going, I did some reconnaissance online and searched for gelato/ice cream/frozen yogurt shops and Bananasplitz popped up. They appeared to be the only place selling bubble tea in Perth, so I figured I could get bubble tea or ice cream depending on my mood when we got there. It was so hot that day we were there, and I really struggled with my decision, but when I saw they had a S'mores ice cream, I had to get it. The flavour I got was called S'more Galore and it's from Central Smith Creamery. This is a brand of ice cream that's not readily available in Ottawa so I was glad to have it. I got the one scoop in a regular cone ($5). It was tasty, but the flavour was not marshmallowy enough for me, lol. The ice cream was supposed to be toasted marshmallow-flavour, but it was rather subtle. I did taste the chocolate fudge ripple and the graham cracker crumbs though. I still enjoyed it though ;) My husband got the Black Raspberry Thunder from Kawartha Dairy (also $5 for a regular cone scoop). I was a bit shocked that he didn't get mint chocolate chip, his go-to flavour, lol. He enjoyed his ice cream, which is what matters. However, we can get Kawartha Dairy ice cream in Ottawa by the tub at the grocery store, including the Black Raspberry Thunder flavour, so when I'm at an ice cream shop, I prefer to get something I can't just get anytime, which is why I opted for a flavour from Central Smith Creamery. Service was friendly. However, the person serving our ice cream did not wear gloves and touched the cones with her bare hands and also touched the little chocolate piece she put on top of our ice cream with her bare hands. The saving grace, I guess, was that a different person worked the cash register, so at least the food handler wasn't also handling money. However, I always prefer it when food handlers wear gloves. My drink was smooth and not chunky or gritty, which I appreciated. It tasted more like a pineapple smoothie to me though. I barely tasted any coconut flavour. Fortunately, the drink was not too sweet. The amount of tapioca was satisfactory. Service was good. I think this place might be the only bubble tea game in town, so I guess it will do well for that reason. However, I grew up in Toronto (Ontario, Canada) where bubble tea joints are ubiquitous and competition is fierce, so I like my drink to have something special to it that sets it apart from other places. So, what was good for takeout in the area? Lee's had an impressive rating and was on the near side of Potsdam, so I ordered off Lee's website (via Yelp's browser). I ordered the Katsu Curry Bowl and two pieces of barbecue chicken "hawaiian sushi" (I remember this description but not the name). I'm really happy I went with the Katsu Curry Bowl, and I was surprised (by the price) that two pieces of sushi filled an entire square container. I love katsu, and Lee's delivered a delicious cutlet, with a curry gravy, served over "rice only" (my selection). The portion of white rice side was very generous, and while I had some gravy leftover from the cutlet, I still didn't manage to finish the rice. The barbecue chicken *was* delicious. I found the sushi a bit structurally unsound, though. Lots of rice, with the barbecue chicken on top, all wrapped in nori paper...so yummy. But I let the nori paper grow moist while I eating the katsu curry bowl, and when I bit into this roll, the seaweed split over the barbecue chicken. So it was delicious but pretty messy. Maybe rice around the chicken, not just under it, would have held up better, though I also just really miss Japanese onigiri. Overall, great meal! Fair price.
