Once the scoops were being made, with all the flavours and options. It all looked so good. I couldn't resist. I had two scoops; one skor and skor chocolate. Ah! The flavours were spectacular. The cone was a dark chocolate dipped waffle cone. Mmmmmm! For someone who originally said no thanks ,not for me. I was not disappointed. Came here while staying in Kingston for the weekend. I have all but good things to say about this place. Service is fast, they had 3 people working taking the order. You can also stay inside the eat because they have a stand up table section on the side. You can order almost any flavour gelato and they make it so well here in my opinion! I didn't get to get the pistachio I wanted sadly because we spent a little too much already in here for everyone. The small scoop is two scoops and they are BIG scoops for $7.70. The best part is you can split them into separate cups per scoop. Huge plus! I will be coming here again and recommend everyone who enjoys ice cream to come here! read more

If you travel to Kingston, Mio Gelato is a MUST stop. I went here for my birthday for a treat. The shop is so cute and very clean. They have so many flavours of gelato. This makes it hard to choose, but also makes one want to return to try others. I ended up with the chocolate pudding plus a scoop of coconut in a small cup. Tasted just like a Mounds bar. I mean it was delicious. Very high quality ingredients for sure. There was a Pride flag in the window, love supporting businesses who support inclusion and make a safe space. There are also benches outside to sit and eat your gelato and look at the water across the street. This is in downtown. The day was very hot, so this was a refreshing treat. There was always a line when I walked past, so you know I'm not the only one who loved it. Do make sure you get lots of napkins on a hot day, especially if you order a cone. I am traveling to Kingston again in October and can't wait to try other flavours. This is a must do in downtown Kingston. Absolutely delicious! read more

This was such a cute little Gelato spot near the Kingston waterfront. It seems like it's the go-to spot in downtown Kingston for gelato since the place got packed but service was very efficient and the line moved pretty quickly. The gelato was delicious and had good portions. They had a good variety of flavours to choose from to your heart's content. I ended up getting the Pistachio and the Earl Grey which were both excellent and provided a nice contrast from each other. There are a few benches outside to sit, but really it's steps away from the waterfront where it can be enjoyed especially on warmer days. read more

We grabbed the chocolate mint and the chocolate Skor flavoured gelato. 1) Chocolate Mint I'm a huge fan of mint ice cream (not a lot of us out there) and it's different from chocolate mint. I enjoyed this one and the gelato was thick and flavourful. The hint of the mint was nice and not too much. 2) Chocolate Skor I somehow enjoyed this gelato more than the chocolate mint one. Right now, there are COVID protocols in place of course but they've got the waiting and ordering set up well thought out. My fave flavours include salty peanut, chocolate peanut butter, coconut and anything seasonal (peach, strawberry, etc) but they do rotate what's available at any given time. In need of dessert, we searched in the area and found Mio Gelato. We were actually looking for frozen yogurt when Mio popped up. They do seem to be firmly in the gelato camp with fewer options for frozen yogurt. They have two big display cases of the different flavours but they are both the same. You have a choice between a cup or a cone and the cones come in certain varieties including waffle. We were able to pick two flavours for our cup so and picked rocky road and cookies and cream. In the display case you can see a lot of toppings on the top of the rocky road so you could get an idea of what was in there. I wondered if the toppings would be as will dispersed throughout as well because I was really looking forward to chocolate and marshmallow. Individually I enjoyed the cookies and cream a bit more but together they were super tasty. read more

The stark difference between the quality of the two flavors is the reason I can't give it 5 stars. On top of being just overall underwhelming, it does seem like Tiramisu was being stored properly. This place is Fantastic-o! (Is that a word in Italian? hahahaha!) My husband and I visited the Canadian Thousand Islands over Labor Day 2021, and visited adorable Kingston while in the area. I was there on a Sunday and 90% of the stores are closed after 5 pm so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this spot was opened. I'm a huge ice cream fan, I usually don't opt in for gelato because I feel like usually the flavours are limited. But that wasn't the case at all with Mio Gelato! They had an amazing variety. I tasted a few flavours but ended up with the pistachio and mini egg cheesecake. The pistachio was amazing. Filled with pistachios and had a stein pistachio flavour. Great place! The gelato was very good and the service was fantastic. The portions are large compared to other gelato places I've frequented, for the same price you get great quality gelato in abundance. The only drawback from this location is the lack of classic flavours. They did not carry vanilla gelato nor a classic strawberry. They do have a number of specialty and complicated flavours, so if you enjoy that then this place is great for you. You could easily share a small with two people as they tend to pile it up high (kind of wish they had a 'baby' size) but it's so delicious it would probably be hard to share. If you'd like to sample any (all?) of the flavours the staff seem happy to oblige. The classic lemon is sumptuous and is lovely paired with their tart black currant. SO GOOD.
