A favorite for sure. I am a fan of curry and this place does it right. I either get the yellow curry at a 3 or the basil fried rice at a 2. I have never received a bad meal from here. Bambu is a very solid thai restaurant. Their menu items are all very delicious. I remember coming here all the time for lunch during my years in college. For lunch, they offer you a soup (dine in) or an eggroll (take out). I always stick with the spicy basil fried rice and dumplings. The prices are very standard and also a bit cheaper during lunch. The portions aren't even smaller during lunch so that is definitely a steal. read more

I love Bambu! To be honest, we've only ever had takeout, but it has always been fantastic. Their tofu pad Thai is delicious - some of the best I've ever had! We have been to Bambu several times over past couple years. Never disappointed! Service is friendly and excellent. Food choices varied but blackboard specials always a good choice. Also, if you have a food allergy, mention it and their computer has the capability of matching your food choice against their ingredients for safety. A nice touch. read more

My son and I went here for dinner the other night. Sounded good (Four stars in Dallas Morning News Guide) and in the neighborhood. WOW is this a great place. Full bar - the wine selection was limited but very good - and food was excellent. We had dumplings (shu mai type - not my favorite, but good nonetheless), crying Tiger beef (excellent with the sticky rice you use to dip with) and Pad Thai. We ordered our food 3 on the 1-to-5 heat scale and I thought it was fine. The owner is a very nice lady who came over and talked with us. The atmosphere of this restaurant is a little "fast food" looking, but it's really worth the trip. Good wine, great food, nice service and friendly owner/manager. Five stars in my book. I'll be back. It is rare that you find a restaurant as consistently efficient and tasty as Bambu. Every time I order from Bambu whether it be to-go or dine-in, the food is ready in a timely manner and is ALWAYS right. Being a vegetarian, this seems to be nearly impossible for most restaurants as I constantly have to ask for exceptions on dishes. To top things off, Bambu has a cute and hip atmosphere. A friend and I always come here when we want to get our fix on Thai food. We love their bamboo, papaya, and seafood salad. We especially love their Laos style papaya salad. I was not impressed by this restaurant. Thai food, especially Thai curry, is one of my favorites. The red curry was watery and lacked a lot of the flavor I am accustomed to. When combined with the rice, it was hard to taste sometimes. I cannot comment on their other food, but I will likely not be returning here again. read more

Great Thai. Ask the owner Shelly for her reccomendation and follow it. Bambu specializes in food from an area of Thailand that produces some amazing and unexpected dishes. Try the blue point oysters if they are on the chalk board. Wow. The chalk board has really cool specials. Vegans will also find this to be a pretty easy place to find a decent selection of Asian food. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcomng and Shelly's family is generally in the kitchen. Oh, and the hot peppers and some the more exotic herbs are grown in Shelly's mom's garden. How cool is that? read more

I (finally) made an account on Yelp just to review this amazing restaurant. Simply put, this is the best Thai in Dallas! My wife and I returned from Thailand only two weeks ago and Bambu is the absolute closest we've ever come to eating authentic Thai while not being in Thailand. I had the Pad Kee Mao and not only were all of the ingredients fresh and excellently prepared, but they added some tomatoes and peppers that really rounded out the dish. The dumpling and mango sticky rice are also absolutely amazing and the service was outstanding. This place is about 20 minutes from our house (we found it be accident) but I can guarantee we won't be eating Thai in Dallas anywhere else! read more

Great service. Waitress was so sweet! I had the pad Thai! Very good! I wanted to get half chicken and half tofu, but then it would've costed me extra... Even though chicken and tofu are the same price. But whatever. It was quick which I liked. Portions seemed a tad small compared to other places, but I guess portion control is good haha! I went to this restaurant today. And I ordered Padkee mao that I usually order in this restaruant. This padkee mao had a no taste even if I ordered spicy level5. I thought that they forgot to put sauce when they stir-fry it. So I explained one of the workers there. The worker, young Thai-American woman, she was very rude about my complain. She said it does not have sauce. It usually tastes like this (She did not tasted my food of course) Maybe I did not explain well, but I wish she tried to understand me. Because she treated me like I'm a stupid customer who does not know Padkee Mao taste like, I would never go back to this restaurant again. read more

My husband and I went this evening for the first time. Nice atmosphere, could be warmer with better lighting. Very friendly service! I got my usual Nua Num Tok, which here they call it Crying Tiger Beef.... something. It's a signature dish, and they recommend it highly. I must say that it was very good beef (tender), but that was all that was in the salad. I've had a MUCH better beef salad of this sort at Chow Thai on Montfort and Beltline. Now THEY know how to make Nua Num Tok!!! I would still return here to try their more unusual dishes like Grilled Octopus. read more

Loved the Pad Thai and red curry. The best dish was no doubt Basil fried rice. Tangy and spicy. Simply loved it. Two things I wasn't really was the curry fried rice. It tasted kinda bland as compared to the basil fried rice. Plus, they don't take back a served dish even if we are not so satisfied with its taste. We had to eat the curry fried rice even though we didn't really like it. The ambience was great. The service was fast and great too. The quantity well was quite less for $10.
