As far as sushi places go, this place is great. Massive variety of rolls and other meal options and everything I have ever eaten there has been delicious. Take-out or eat-in; the service is great. Never gotten an order wrong. The building is clean and decorated beautifully. A little more expensive than other places but not crazy. Anyways, with sushi, it's always important to pay the extra for quality in my opinion. Portion sizes are pretty big. Would definitely recommend. read more

Really good sashimi .... definitely better than elsewhere in Danbury, Bethel, or Ridgefield. As good as you get in NYC. Was not busy on a Monday evening. Only a few tables occupied and maybe 5- 6 people around a large bar. However the service was excellent. Great find, can't wait to return... I'll bring friends next time. They have a bar tender who might just be the most obnoxious person on earth. The first time I visited was a Sunday around dinner time (6pm) and just sat at the bar looking to get a fast bite to eat. The bar tender was the only person behind the bar and for about 20 minutes he ignored my requests for a menu and talked LOUDLY with what I'm assuming were his friends (maybe they were random people he just wanted to share his life story with Idfk). I got fed up with being ignored so I left. A few days later I went back around 1 pm for lunch. They were basically empty so I figured I'd sit at the bar again. To my surprise it's the same bartender, albeit this time he has one "friend" sitting at the bar who he's spewing his entire life story to. This time he actually noticed me and gave me a menu; I still had to give my order to one of the waitresses that was roaming, but at least I got my food put in. While I'm waiting for my lunch, the bartender is giving his "friend" free drinks and telling him he'd "cover" his meal. He was conversing SO LOUDLY, which is one of my pet peeves, and I could hear his entire life story about how is fiancé is a pathological liar and he's a recovering addict trying to get straight. I'm really sorry your life sucks but please dude shut up. The third time I intentionally sat as far away from the bar as possible and I had a great meal. Disappointing service. Food was good as well as the hibachi chef. Waitress at our table tonight on 3/3/18 was terrible. She brought our drinks at the end of our dinner, forgot our sushi appetizer and charged us for extra items. We pointed them out on the check and when she brought back revised check, it was still incorrect. We were them asked to leave because other people were waiting. What? We were still finishing the drinks that were brought to our table right before our check was dropped!! Makes no sense! The manager was the one kicking us out. Bad experience. Too bad. Good but not great sushi. Started with steamed shrimp dumplings, not the best choice as they were bland and fairly flavorless. For my entree selected the sushi deluxe which was one tuna roll and 9 pieces of sashimi. It was solid, the white fish wasn't anything special but the rest of the the pieces were good. Haven't been to this type of restaurant since I lived in Japan. Although very pricey it was a fantastic experience for the family since it was their first time. Everything from the atmosphere to the chef was outstanding. He put on a particular nice show for the kids. The interaction by Chef Ivan with our kids was fantastic. My son who is very subdued really came out of shell during the meal. Overall, try to go as we did for a late lunch early dinner when the place is less busy. A bit pricey even with a $60 off Groupon. They get you because with this Groupon you must order adult entrees although you have young children. But we will be going back again. I did hear some disturbing things about the distribution of the tips by the owners. I hope it is not true. read more

Last Saturday, I was with a group of nine family members for my nephew's 10th birthday. Obviously, a hibachi restaurant would not be my first choice for a dining experience on a Saturday night, but this is where the kid wanted to go. After being seated 20 minutes after our 7:00pm reservation, we had been at the table less than one minute when the server came around and asked us if we knew what we wanted to order. Really? This was the first sign that the only thing that this restaurant cares about is turning its tables. After being rushed through a marginal meal, prepared by our Mexican chef (so much for authenticity), the check was slammed on our table. We were not even asked if we wanted dessert. My nephew was crushed as he was expecting a birthday cake. The manager came over when he saw that we were getting agitated, and he said and I quote, "We need this table; you need to leave." Wow. When we explained that it was my nephew's birthday, he said that we could all move to another table and order it there. Again. Wow. After dropping over $400 on crap food, we were literally being rudely evicted from our table. Then when my nephew started to cry, he offered to bring us some cake. What my nephew received was a cold piece of chocolate cake that had barely thawed. Mind you, none of the rest of us were provided with any cake or dessert. Simply amazing. There are plenty of decent hibachi places, but sadly this is NOT one of them. I suggest that you avoid this dump at all costs. You've Been Warned! read more

Unfortunately I need to update my 4 star review as my coworkers and I ate Bambu every Wednesday for 11 weeks but whose counting! We used the whole 3 strikes your out rule and unfortunately the last strike was a small bone in the hibachi chicken meal. First strike was inconsistency in each rolls description, second strike was a pebble? Or something of that nature in a roll and yes unfortunately it was found the hard way. For those reasons we will no longer be dining at Bambu. read more

Never asked if we wanted a second drink /dessert but instead he threw the check at us. This place is alright. Hibachi was ok. Sushi was ok. Service was ok. There is nothing wrong with the food it just isn't anything to write home about. I think hibachi is all about the dipping sauces and the flare of the show. The hibachi sauces were the most disappointing of all; not great. I was in town for a week for work and got takeout from here twice, it was so good!! The lobster dishes are really good, the shrimp shumai is amazing hot but also stays good for a heated up leftover the next day. Tiramisu is a must! The staff was really friendly over the phone when I ordered and in person when I picked up. Very speedy as well, about 10-15 min wait. read more

The waitstaff was very attentive, however they charge per refill of soda and do not mention this prior to the bill. Bambu has been redeemed! i gave them some time to work out their quirks with the new owner exchange. and they have! very nicely indeed! i love menus with pictures lol. so work peeps and i gave bambu another shot. the menu is very extensive (a bit too much- but what eve.) we shared some apps and sushi rolls: fresh soft shell crabs, tuna sesame salad, fried oysters, curry seafood soup, and then they brought a kana salad as an app. all were yum- and very almost thai inspired- the kani salad had some fresh mango/papaya- the tuna was my fav- with seared sesame tuna, strawberries- it also had some white sauce on it- which prob could have been better without- but what-ev- still very good. We then shared a few rolls: (I was with non raw fish eaters- hence the cooked rolls)- but we had the India Roll- yellowtail, tuna, banana,- lightly fried, Awesome Roll- sea bass topped with a wonderful piece of blackened tuna, philly roll, cali, and avocado rolls. also salmon sashimi and tuna sashimi. lovin the temp the sashimi was served at. proper. i actually am loving what these new owners are doing. a lot of different offerings. and they are very accommodating. a wonderful selection for all palates. (sushi and non sushi)- and if you are a true sushi connoisseur- they will cater to that and offer you the fresh selections and more appropriate offerings. super awesome job bambu. will def be back! oh- and the dessert menu looks great- make sure you leave room!! read more

I stopped by on a recent evening at about 6 pm. I went to the bar for a cocktail and nibbles. The bar was dirty. I waited 10 minutes for somebody to acknowledge me; this never happened. There were 3 bartenders present. None of them looked happy. At one point, one of the women behind the bar spit...yes, SPIT...into a receptacle behind the bar. YUK! No thank you! read more

Went here for the second time Sarurday night about 8 with boyfriend and sat at the bar. The atmosphere is very friendly and laid back, it can however get a little loud. I don't eat sushi (boyfriend does) so I ordered the beef filet. He had a few rolls and really enjoyed them. I could not say enough about the filet. It literally melts in your mouth, and the mushroom sauce is delish as well, really enhances the meat flavor. Came back for second time and we both had the filet, and again it was superb! We will definetly be back! read more

The place is good as far as potential. All bartenders are great but "gina". I can look past inattentive service but when she talked to regulars it was pretty distasteful and offensive to pretty much to anyone in any gender or race. She drinks openly every shift and its okay because there are no managers there. One older male regular will ruin your experience while being loudly needy of everyones attention. Real buzz kill! Bambu is great for sushi and hibachi. The heaven roll (with shrimp and banana tempura) is amazing here- a must try! This place is great for hibachi and it has a nice bar atmosphere. My only complaint is the bathrooms are always gross. I've seen a dirty toilet cleaner sitting out, and there have been times when they have been out of toilet paper. Other than that, this place is definitely on my regular place to go for Sushi. read more
