This is a place has been my favorite place for Asian dessert/smoothies/tea.. etc since I discovered it through a friend. Last summer I was there 2-3 times (which is kinda bad for wallet lmao). Pretty good dessert place! There's a lot of variety bubble tea, milk tea, shaved ice, mochi and even macaroons! They have a lot of variety for bubble tea and milk tea. Also you can replace tapioca with mango or strawberry popping boba, lychee jelly, mango jelly and etc. You order bubble tea smoothies but this place has more unique combos to give a try. We had yelped this gem and despite getting one of our 5 orders a little wrong, it's still ranking high in reviews. I ordered the sea salt foam black milk tea with added boba and it was supposed to have egg custard in it but didn't but I didn't realize it until later. The drink was still delicious. The sea salt foam adding that hint of savory sweet that is indulgent but not rich or overwhelming. It wasn't too sweet either. And you can taste the strong black tea. Very balanced. We also ordered a honeydew and coconut banana for my kids who have not developed the taste for boba yet. It's also still a choking hazard for them. Maybe they'll appreciate it when they can learn the skill of "drinking and eating" or developed a stronger gag reflex. Their drinks were more like milkshake smoothies as if whipped into an icy creamy consistency. Again, a hit. My husband ordered a taro with boba, which was also delicious. He also ordered another for tasting he said. That's what I get for letting him go in alone. He eats with his eyes and all the fun colors tempt him. The girl that works at the front was very rude. I asked what their most popular menu item was and she said "black milk tea." I asked what was in it and gave me a look like I was a complete idiot and said 'black...tea...' The reason this specific review is receiving only one star is due to the customer service I received on a particular evening last week. When you enter this dessert-shop and ask for a Pandan Waffle, the associate handling the register will base her answer off of personal preference. What that means is, if the associate wants to make the waffle, she will. If not, she'll lie to you and say "we're out of Pandan-jelly." So, when you ask her if the same form/type of Pandan-jelly is used in the drink you wish to order, she'll have to build off of her lie and say "we're out of Pandan jelly in all forms" in order to save her ass from having to make a Pandan Waffle. When your friend orders said-drink "without Pandan, please", the associate will enter the drink into the system and the drink-makers will not be aware of her lie and the drink will be made with Pandan-jelly. It'll be too late for you to order by now, because you ordered a completely different drink due to her claims of Bambu lacking in Pandan-jelly (even though 85% of their drinks contain this ingredient). When you pick up your friend's drink and point to the Pandan-jelly and ask, "what kind of jelly is this?", the associate will freeze because she's been caught in a lie. She'll lie again. The associate said to me, "oh ...That's Pandan! It was the last batch we had." We all knew she had lied. I wanted to ask why she didn't just use this "last batch" when I asked for the Pandan-waffle, but I didn't want to be a bitch. Her laziness, lies, and lack of usefulness was enough to ruin the night. read more

I also grabbed a Cafe Mocha with coffee jellies (my husband loved it, coffee was strong) and peach fruit tea. Our friends brought us to Bambu today and I'm so glad we went! I tried the coconut combo and my fiancé had the #10 (can't remember the name). They were both delicious!!! I would recommend asking for the dessert drinks without ice as you have to constantly stir in order the the ice mixed in. We also had the chocolate coffee macaroons which were soft and delicious! I first went to my first BAMBU in California, second in Houston. I was excited to find that Chicago finally had a location. I gave this place three trials to see it's just that one time it was a screw up. NO, all three times I had a bad experience. First time, it tasted nothing from what it should taste like, second time was the same. The third time I tried something else and brought my wife and mother with. They overcharged us and gave no receipt as proof. Nothing was mention, no sorry, no nothing. This is unacceptable. It's upsetting due to this being only the place of its kind here. This place is a fun, fantastic place to get dessert after eating out in Argyle. The desserts are very chaotic and stuffed with a bunch of different things, but they all work together to make an awesome slew of sweet. The first time we went we got just normal bubble tea l, which was also better than what I was expecting, not too sweet without me having to request less sugar! We have also gotten the avocado smoothie, and it is very good. The sweetness of the avocado comes out and nothing overpowers the flavor - if you want dessert, but not something too sweet, this place is good for you. Of course, they also offer the Ches, which can have that huge hit of sweet. The shop itself is small, but clean and I've never disliked their music video selection on the TVs while I waited. read more

This place is amazing! The che is so good! It has smells of pandan and coconut and made to perfection. I ordered a lot of drinks and all were excellent! This place also sells pandan waffles which is not found anywhere. It's not on their menu, so you just have to ask for it. Not cheap, but worth it. They ask you if you want your che iced not, so if you plan to eat later, don't add the ice and they'll seal it up. read more

the first time I tried bambo was when I was on vacation and went to the OC night market.. they had a stand there selling drinks.. had some mango drink in a mason jar and thought it was pretty good.... once my friends told me that bamboo was opening up one in Chicago, i was happy!.. i didn't know they sell desserts.. I was so hooked on it when they first opened up haha.. no lie.. Drinks here are like desserts. I tried the bambu favorite and really liked it. It had coconut milk, pandan jelly, grass jelly, and red tapioca. Wasn't too sweet and was just right, perfectly refreshing for summer. The prices are a bit high though, ranging from 5.25 to 6.25 for the desserts and about 5 for fruit smoothies. This place is well worth it. I don't think I've ever had anything like these Che before. The che is like America meets Vietnam. The drinks are all refreshing, but I gotta say, the Pennywort drink is one of my favorite, it's refreshing and is something unique. The lady at the register (and also made my drink) was so nice! I got a hot taro milk tea with tapioca and it was so so good! Best taro drink I've ever had because it actually tasted like taro. I also had bad experiences with the cashier. I used to go there and ordered 7-10 diff. drinks and che for myself and my co-workers. But it was happened more than couple times that the cashier was mean and her attitude was not acceptable. Last time when we was there last week to order 7 of diff. drinks and che, one of my co-worker ordered her drink after we finished the order, we also told one more drink when we charged the total, but when we got the receipt, I did not see my co-worker's drink so I asked the cashier maybe she missed that one. Instead of adding another drink and we pay for it, she was yelled at us (3 of us) that we did not confirm the order with her. I told her it was not a big deal, just take another order and we pay of it but she still keep saying that we did not confirm the order. I work in the bank, all my co-workers included myself usually go there and order drinks couples times a week and it is not 1 drink or 2, it is always 7-10 diff. drinks and che. This was not the first time happened so after last week, we all decided not to go there anymore. We are there to pay for the drink, we are not there to beg for a drink so yelling to the customers will push your customers away from your business. Thanks to your cashier ! read more
