I'd give my option on the apps first. Salt n pepper was $15. I did expect the portion to be a bit more than what came out because of the price. There wasn't as much as what you would get from other restaurants. However, I gave that a pass since it really matters how good the dish tastes that justifies the price. I would have to say I'm disappointed. The calamari was gooey. There was NO crunch to it at all. I would not recommend getting it. The steamed dumplings doesn't have much flavor to it and it didn't come out warm. The pho broth tastes good. There was a good portion of meat in the soup. I'd say the pho was the only good thing we had. Would I go back? I would go back but I would probably order something else. read more

Stupidly I thought this place was a Thai buffet or something when it was secondhand recommended to me. Sat at the sushi bar and ordered Omakase (chef's choice; I spent $40 but you choose whatever you want to spend). Very nice presentation, excellent quality fish, thoughtful combinations, and actual ground wasabi root. I've read a lot of complaints about service here, and tbf the wait staff didn't seem on their game, but sitting at the bar makes that a non-factor. The chef/owner chatted with us throughout the meal, talking about the fish, the flavor combinations, the business (he was at Origami), etc. Excellent meal and a good value if you appreciate sushi; can't speak to anything else on the menu, nor do I see a need to. (I was impressed by the lightness of the batter on the tempura.) Will definitely go back, which is something I don't say very often. read more

This is a late entry. Came here with friends for late dinner. Arrived at 10:20pm ish. Luckily, my friends know the owner really well and they prepared our food since kitchen closed at 10pm. Ambience: casual, plenty of room, the bar comes with 2 big screen tv for karaoke. There were plenty of patrons trying their best to show their talent. Props to everyone who sang. My friends asked me man up and pick up the mic. I told them that if I start singing, the patrons would leave. I don't want to be responsible for the restaurant to lose money!!! Service: when the owner and the head chef dine with you, service is top notch. The owner kept serving us his most expensive bottle of liquor. It's was a waste on me since I'm a "weak sauce" and can't handle liquor. None the less, it was very generous on the owner to provide free drinks. Foods: a mixed bag: The chef special: lightly sauté beef with onion, tomato, Cucumber, garlic, and green onion. We all agreed that this was not a successful dish. The beef was cut too thick for stir fried; it was cheewy. It wasn't seasoned well, and it was too sour. The sashimi sample: nothing special since it was pre-order from some distributor; they slide it and serve. Not a lot of work or creativity in this dish. Roast duck: average, the seasoning tasted like Chicago streak seasoning. The duck was really tender, I was really surprised how tender it remained after 40 minutes of sitting on the table. *****my opinion-- if you want a good roast duck, go to a Chinese person--- around the twin cities, it's "the house of wu" in Burnsville. Go check it out people!!!! The deep fried salmon head: this is a solid great dish. Not sure what all of the seasonings that were marinated in, but it was done gracefully. It wasn't overwhelming where you can't taste the salmon. The skin was extra crispy, yet the meat was moist and tender. The head chef and I was sharing cooking technique and We discussed sous vie cooking method. I didn't asked how he cooked the fish head, but I wouldn't be surprised if he sous vie it first, then deep fried it second. The fish eyes was amazing!!! It came with a ponzu dipping sauce, I don't think you need it. The papaya salad: I've made and eaten plenty of Asian papaya salad on various continents. Hand down, this is one of the top 4. My friend told me that it's only good if the owner's dad or mother makes it, if anyone else (including the head chef) prepare the papaya salad here, it won't be as good. Luckily, my friend requested the owner's mother to make it for us. I'm so glad that she did it. The texture, spicy ness, sweet, sour, salt from the permeated crab/fish paste, garlic, and herbs were just excellent. It was good enough that I had to order one to go for my mother to try. She came to the same conclusion: where did you buy this at, it's delicious. It's a high mark coming from my mother!!!! Not a bad experience despite hits and misses; but that's a part of life. I needed a late night dinner and tried this place due to the lone review that was five stars. Time to add review number two. It's quite popular with the Asian crowd, where the bar was hopping with loud karaoke music. My Laab beef salad came out quite fast, and boy was it spicy! I wished they would have asked how spicy I wanted it. I'm no Thai food expert, but I have a feeling their food is closer to authentic than most (the chef said it's from Laos). For example, in addition to ground beef, it had strips of what appeared to be tripe or something. It was fine, but I guess I prefer Americanized versions if so. The "salad" was more like a regular Thai dish with a wedge of lettuce on the side. Good, just not what I was expecting for a salad. But by all means give them a try. read more

I wasn't sure if I wanted to give 1 or 2 stars, but I'm super nice today. First, let me post this conversation: Waitress: who got the tempura fish? Me: Tempura shrimp? Waitress: Did you get the tempura fish? Me: I got the tempura shrimp. Waitress: Yeah, fish. Me: Do you mean tempura shrimp? Waitress: tempura fish Me: I got the tempura shrimp. Waitress: Yeah, fish. Me: Um, ok. I guess I'll just take it. The service here sucks so bad. There was NO ONE else there except for our table of 13. Yes, they were setting up for an event in the back, but they had NO OTHER table of customers. And still, we had no water refills. They got my order wrong (conversation above) and didn't seem to notice that they got my order wrong. How slow are you!? I got some shots and they came out some 30 minutes later in the middle of dinner. I just can't believe how shitty their service is. The food is mediocre at best. The Pad Thai had a shit load of onions and not as much noodles and didn't taste very good. The fish tempura roll was actually pretty good, therefore I was very nice in giving them 2 stars. The fried rice and curry fish was OK. Because we were a large group, we had to tip 18% which I think it pretty generous for really shitty service. For anyone thinking about going to Bamboo Hut, I would suggest NOT GOING. But if you do go, I think their sushi is better than their Thai dishes. And their bar is probably better than their sushi. Edited: Another thing that I just remembered that was so weird. Keep in mind that we were the only table there having dinner. 2 people came in and went directly to the back (bar area), I assume to talk to a manager. AND THEN they came to our table to SING TO US to solicit money for a cause. It was SOOOO WEIRD as they sang a song and walked around the table to try and collect money. WTF! They didn't stop when someone at the table gave them some money; they just went to the other end of the table to try to get more money. Does Bamboo Hut let people come in to solicit to easily and so publicly? I would have been OK if they just came to ask us and left but they sang to us and no one from the restaurant came to tell them to stop. It was so weird. read more

Went for their All-You-Can-Eat Crab Legs as they mentioned for 36.99, there was a total of four of us the bill came up to about 197 total? Wait there is something wrong here !!!!!!! Seen on other Facebook post they charge 18% automatically gratuity which is fine but that does not add up to 197 for 4 ppl. (36.99 * .18 = 6.66. So which means it should be 36.99 + 6.66 =43.65) where in the who what world did the extra surcharge come from? If I'm going to by 50/ dollars per person for this? I rather spend it at mystic lake grab legs or even fogo de chao. Last but not least when asked the waiter what is in their sushi roll, all I got was "I do not know" and a blank stare...... Prob never going back there as their food quality is not the greatest and poor service. Damn I'm still hurt about 50.00 dollars. read more

Awesome food and friendly staff although the wait staff could use some proper training and better customer service, 5* for food quality. All you can eat crab legs on Wednesdays. Recommend ghost rider roll, mt. Fuji and seafood larb. read more
