Amazing experience the whole way through! Joe was very responsive right away with quotes and scheduling, made it an easy decision to decide to work with him. I had seen another project they had done in neighborhood and the quality was fantastic so we knew we were in good hands. Joe's crew was very respectful with our property and always cleaned up at the end of the day. They were also really nice and surprisingly quiet for the type of work. I had one minor concern during the installation but Joe was quick to respond to my concerns and reassure me all was good and it was. I personally felt the price was good for the amount of work and after seeing the finish, I think the price is extremely good for the quality of work. Bamboo Grove did a fantastic job transforming the backyard at our new home. It was a giant lumpy mud pit with chain link fence and in a matter of weeks they turned it into a beautiful, Japanese-garden-esque sanctuary. It's gorgeous and has already gotten lots of compliments, not to mention we now enjoy spending time there. The experience was also wonderful - Joe was so knowledgable and helpful and the two team members (Josh and Spencer) who completed the on-site work were incredibly professional and friendly. Bamboo Grove was the most expensive of three estimates to do a sizable landscaping job in our yard and they completed it in a timely manner and did the work we had agreed upon. The problem came in that the main contractor did not tell us what things we might want to consider with our design (they went off my plans and I am not a landscape designer). I guessed at 18 stairs, and plants etc. It was never suggested that we might want edging of some sort to divide the gravel and the mulch and that was going to cost $270 an hour plus materials to put in (3 men worked the job most of the time). So we ended up hauling brick pavers from Lowe's and doing it ourselves. The main contractor admitted to me that he felt he underbid our job and we got the distinct impression after that that he just wAnted to get done and get out of there. We wanted a few extra things done and were willing to pay for those things but the main contractor sent curt texts about any extra work read more

It has taken me forever to write this, but let me say: joe is GREAT!!! I have already recommended him to 4 people. What I asked joe to do was impossible: turn my dog-destroyed back yard into a relaxing, beautiful escape from my hectic life. Most landscape companies I called responded with "haaaahaaaahaaaaa. Riiiiight". Joel's response? "Done. No problem. When can I start?" My reaction: "riiiiiight". But, he did it, and with very little help and a smile on his face the entire time. His bid was extremely low (probably too low), and his determination to get the job done in the time I needed was insane! I seriously couldn't believe everything he accomplished. He knew we were in a bad spot and promised to respond but did not... Communication is key with any person and especially with your contractor, for us we will never use or reccomend them, try Bamboo Garden or Bamboo Valley instead. read more

His quote was competitive, the job was completed in a timely manner and he was very communicative. His team even repaired a French drain for free that wasn't in the contract. We are so pleased with Bamboo Grove's work! We came to them with two projects...one was a rebuild of a failing retaining wall and the other was a "special circumstance" with an existing horizontal stainless steel cable fence. The retaining wall included demo and excavation of the existing wall, and installation of a french drain, geo-textile, concrete footer and rebuilt wall. Then we asked Joe Vacarella (owner) to design a custom solution for our cable fencing to secure it so our dog could not escape. Joe did a fantastic job of retro-fitting a solution that didn't compromise the esthetic of the original fence design, and keeps Laddie safely in his own yard! I contacted Bamboo Grove to come bid on replacing our deck, which is falling apart. Joe showed up at my house at the agreed upon time, took measurements, and said he'd have a quote ready for me the following Monday. I waited a few extra days, then on Wednesday reached out via email to see if he had a chance to put together the quote, and never got a response. That was over a month ago. Joe and his team demolished a 3x6 stand of running bamboo that we had been fighting with for 15 years! The job was bid and accomplished within a week of contacting him and the space looks great!! What used to be unruly bamboo is now fine soil that (after amending) is perfect for a veggie garden. No chemicals were used, just a shovel and a stump grinder.
