A gem of a find! Visiting the area and looking for a local place for breakfast, how fortunate we…read morewere to find Lily's Cafe. The service was impeccable from the initial welcome to the thank you as leaving we felt at home and cared for very well. We ordered off of the Lilys special menu for the holidays - a Cuban sandwich, breakfast burrito with chorizo and chilaquiles con Rojas with chicken, avocado and scrambled egg. Every bite was tasty and beautifully presented. The chilaquiles sauce was flavorful with a bit of spice, tortilla were crispy, the eggs perfectly cooked. This dish could easily serve two hungry people so a box was needed for take out which were promptly gobbled up by family who slept in. If you are in the area do yourself a favor and stop by Lily's Cafe! Bring a big appetite.

My husband is a human garbage disposal (rude, but true). He is happy to eat here. I really hate this place. They are overpriced, very overcrowded (on any day of the week, however do not even attempt to get a table on the weekend). If you decide to come anyway, know that they provide no seating for waiting customers. This dump is standing room only. They have (kind of, to be generous) a couple of options for vegans. Their hashbrowns are made with canola oil, and by default only, they are vegan. They serve a very bad fruit cup at a very high price. If you bring your own vegan butter, their toast and English muffin are options as well. Vegetarians do well at any breakfast diner. There are no Celiac/gluten-free options that are marked, however to my limited knowledge eggs and hashbrowns are safe (minus toast) I really try to do my best and include everyone of every dietary choice/need in my reviews.

She even spoke Polish to my husband! We had simple eggs with well done sausage for me and delicious corned beef hash for my husband. Two nicely toasted, large pieces of toast and a generous size orange juice completed our meal. We live quite a bit aways and this was our second, happy visit- we definitely will be back!

You could drive right by thinking it was a vacant building except for all the cars in the lot. The notion of vacant building is dispelled immediately upon entry. The place is busy, loud, vibrant with customers clearly enjoying the food and experience. The interior is decorated simply, with muted colors, is well lit, and clean. There are a lot of hard surfaces which makes the ambient noise level fairly high; however, it did not detract from the experience (but just be advised in case you feel this is bothersome). We were greeted warmly and though the place was packed, we were seated quickly. Despite the diner-like vibe, there is no counter, just tables and booths. Our server was prompt, very pleasant, and efficient. The coffee was hot and flavorful. The food: Large portions, well prepared, warm, savory, satisfying. The loaded Cheers omelette, with hash browns and pancakes, was more food than I could enjoy in one sitting so I have leftovers for tomorrow. Prices are in line with more reasonably priced independent eateries. A two-egg, hash browns, pancake combo is $14. This place will be an option in the future.

For drinks, I started with the lychee martini and then moved to the Fire and Ice. I loved the Fire and Ice drink. My husband found a new Pinot Noir that he now loves - Submission! For starters - we got the Brussels Sprouts Crostini. Unique appetizer to try - if you love brussell sprouts. For entrees, we got the cauliflower steak and fried chicken. I loved my cauliflower - the hummus and pita bread with it made it perfect. I wasn't trying for an all veggie meal, but it truly hit the spot. Nothing too heavy at all. My husband liked his fried chicken but wished it was spicier. He took half home and was able to spice it up with a sauce. Overall - a great meal that we would go back to if we were in the area.

There is limited seating so it is primarily first come first serve. Their espresso machine was out of order while we were there. However, no big deal we still enjoyed everything else. The service was good. Our waitress was a little bit off, but no big deal. Parking is street parking. Worth the try while I'm Glen Ellyn.
