Loved this brewery. The atmosphere is awesome, If you need to host a party, this is the place. Beers are good and the brewery is just awesome.

Enjoyed this spot! Some friends and I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't crowded (more people were coming in when we left). It's a pretty large spot in one of the historic mill buildings. They kept a lot of the industrial brick and hardwood floors, but added some pretty light fixtures and plenty of seating (at the bar, tables, a few couches and plush chairs). There's a corner with dart boards and a shuffleboard as well. They have a pretty large beer selection. I would've missed the second menu board had the employee not told me. I went with a flight and enjoyed all of them except the wheat (probably more of a me thing than the beer not being good). Chill vibe in an attractive space and decent beer. Stop by if you're in the area!

So I guess they just got bought out recently and some of the things I loved before have changed but overall I still love it here. The beer selection is big with great pricing and size options. It's nice that there is a large indoor and outdoor space with cornhole and arcade games. I've heard they have food trucks but I personally have never been when there's been one. They do host events like bingo and do live music which is very cool. They also allow dogs INSIDE, which is amazing so you can stay cool! Service has always been quick and friendly, definitely would recommend!

Great atmosphere, with indoor and outdoor areas. Lots of comfy seating options. Staff was friendly and helpful. We got a seltzer and a sour and both were yummy!

Spacious brewery space in historic downtown D with good beer and room to roam. Great place to gather...and food around the corner

Absolutely LOVED our experience at Ballad! 3 of us total came and each ordered flights of 4 beers. My personal faves were the Snickerdoodle and the Fast Mail. We loved the energy, cleanliness, decor, games, and service! We also came on small business Saturday and each received a complementary BB" beer glass. We felt so welcomed with the LGBTQ+ flag hanging and I loved how the women's bathroom had a discreet code that you could use for help if you ever felt endangered by a date or anything. Will definitely be back!

They're brewing excellent beer and they have a super friendly and attentive staff. However, the thing I probably liked the most was the little glimpses of civic responsibility and inclusivity that I noticed. They were handing out coasters advertising a suicide awareness walk, they had a visible pride flag hanging up, and in the ladies room they have signs posted on how they can help if you are in an uncomfortable or unsafe situation on a date. Kudos to them for making fantastic beer and tackling social issues at the same time. Bravo!

Great experience, open floor plan, open mic, great selection of beer. Can't wait to go back and try a few more of there drafts! Go when they have live music, the atmosphere is wonderful and you won't regret it!!!

The fries were a 11/10 - perfectly hot, perfectly seasoned. The restaurant itself was small but plenty of outdoor and dog-friendly seating. The servers were all very attentive and it was the perfect spot for us to grab a lunch. Would've taken photos but I couldn't help but dig in when it came out!

We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery. It is a beautiful location right next to the River District. There's a lovely park, splash pad, and playground right along the Dan River. We were so stoked to eat right there. The interior of the restaurant was so fun. We loved the decorations. Books everywhere! The server was ok at first. But when we were done, I did not like how she presented me the check. She just quickly flashed me an amount on a screen, and then hid the screen. I asked if I could pay cash and she accepted it but did not bring me a check even then. We ordered 3 burgers that sounded really good. Such a disappointment. The burger meat in each was shaped perfectly and was as hard as a hockey puck. They appeared to be cooked medium but the meat was tough and gristly. I have no idea how they got all the burgers the exact, uniform hockey puck shape. They must be like those frozen ones you can get at Costco. But $17.95 for a frozen hockey puck? At one point, while my kids were telling me how gross the patties were, while my husband and I told them they had to eat them to go play on the playground, I flagged the server down and asked what type of meat it was. She said beef. However, it did not taste like beef. Thank goodness for all the toppings because if they were plain burgers, they would have been inedible. We were so hungry though so we ate what we could. Notably, the buns also tasted cheap like they had just come out of a stale grocery store deli bag. The seasoned fries, sweet potato fries, the homemade ranch and ketchup, and salad with homemade vinaigrette were ok. After we left, I added up what we ordered again and realized she must have charged me an extra $12 to swap out a veggie patty for a beef patty. I was not told there would be an upcharge so felt a little swindled, especially with how she presented the check. I wish I had kept the veggie patty though, because it probably would have been better. Also my kid who had said the burgers were so gross puked right after we left and immediately felt much better and enjoyed 2 hours on the playground. My other kid was jealous of the other one puking. Like you can't make this kind of stuff up. This spot has so much potential. I would honestly hope to visit again just to chill outside but would not ever eat the burgers.

The vibe is pure microbrewery and I'm so here for it! They are a hybrid brewery/taproom so they have 5-6 of their own beers and a variety of other local/NC breweries, which is great to keep options open while also showcasing in-house brewing! Jeff, the owner & brewer, was behind the bar when I came in and he is the epitome of the foundation of the craft brew scene. All of the in-house beers were fantastic! The quality and beer artistry that went into the beers was evident with each sip! Also, u gotta luv a place that commits to a theme! This one is board sports and from the name to the decor to the beer names, it is ubiquitous and I'm so here for it! The taproom is small yet weirdly spacious...w/bar, table, upstairs, and even patio seating! So come for the beers and stay for the flight boards (as each one is unique)! Beers had: -Vert Ramp Vanilla Cream Ale 5.3% The flavor notes on both the nose & body/finish on this one -Mile Marker 55 Mango Wit 5% Luved that the hint of very distinct mango was on the finish and the wheat/wit was on the front/middle palate! -Morning Sesh Coffee Stout 7% The coffee was prevalent but not overpowering...I could have this beer w/bfast! Made w/Dark Roast Sumatra -Get Barreled BBA Stout 10.1% This is perfection for the abv; no cloying sweetness, u get the toffee/vanilla behind the finish from the barrel-aging but the tannins & malt from the stout -in-barrel come through gorgeously giving u an unsweet BBA stout that holds up to the 10.1% -Shape Shack Passion Fruit Pear Sour 3.4% I usually don't do sours but this one drinks like a prickly pear (fruit) margarita, and I'm not mad about it!
