I really wanted to love this place. Parking: I found it through Google and decided to stop while we were on the road. The restaurant was easy to find, right off the road. There is parking in a small lot behind the restaurant. You can park and walk into the back door of the restaurant. Customer Service: Great customer service and gets 5/5 stars. Food: I got the sampler with baked beans and added a side of potato salad. The price was good but I was not impressed with the food Joe the sides. Please leave the seasoning that's put on top of the meat off. It is entirely too salty. The baked beans were salty as well and the potato salad surprisingly lacked seasoning and could've benefited from having a little salt. Minus the seasoning I was about to wipe off, the meat had a mild smoke flavor. Overall Impression: You get your money's worth. I spent about $30 for the sampler and 2 sides. On my many travels to Memphis, I was happy to finally be able to check out Ball Hoggerz BBQ. If you fly into Memphis, it's literally not far from the airport and worth checking out. First off, it's a hole-in-a-wall kinda spot and the area is also pretty rough so just be cautious if you're heading here. There's a private parking lot near the back and an entrance you can use to get inside (it's on both sides but if you want to be more discreet walking in, then go through the back door). The ribs y'all... it was so flavorful! It absolutely hit the spot (we couldn't stop eating). It's different from Texas BBQ but it's worth trying to understand other flavor profiles. It was nice, smokey, with hints of sweetness. The meat was moist and not hard to chew. The smoked sausage also had similar flavors like the ribs but it was in a hot dog bun. Best ribs we've had so far on this multi-state tour of the Midwest and the south. The ribs were so well seasoned and smoked that they didn't even need any of the sauce that was so graciously provided. The portions were huge and the meat was so tender, on point flavor wise and fall off the bone ribs. The vinegar based sauce was nice to have for the pulled turkey and pork but the meat was so well seasoned it almost didn't even need it. The spaghetti was good and something I had never heard of or tried before being from Detroit it's not something I knew existed. The grilled corn with the garlic butter so good. My only "wish" is there was still a lot of silk on the corn I could not see till I tried to eat it and that wasn't fun but once I cleaned it up it was perfect. I was expecting a tender, succulent turkey leg with a nice crispy skin as I have gotten in the past. I was also expecting a nice grilled ear of corn with butter what I got was a nice, tender, succulent, turkey leg smeared in hot rub there's no notation in the listing on the menu that they were going to smear it, with this travesty of a rub, it might be good on ribs if you like that kind of thing, but it was unexpected on the turkey leg especially since I had had that before I myself am unable to take a lot of spice especially right now because I have a migraine. OK so I tried to dig out what meat I could get to that didn't have that crap slathered all over it still pretty good but my lips are burning. I unwrap my corn to see that they have doused it in the same rub! who does that to corn? and there's so much on it. There is no saving it. I tasted the butter dip and they have added so much seasoning to it that it's unusable as well.
