When you have a special spot near home it's hard to share. This cozy cafe has so much decadent deserts I want to visit every day. The employees are patient with my taking photos and asking questions all the time. There is a small comfortable counter. Very small!! A table in the back. Narrow space getting in and out. It's best to go early or take out. They are open seven days a week from 6am to 9:30 pm. Hard working business. You can order cakes or select one on the spot. They have cupcakes, cookies, cannoli, cheesecake. I thought I died and went to heaven... Check out my photos and their web site. If you're up early you may run in to me some morning. I come to this bakery every morning to get my usual coffee and toasted buttered bread or bacon egg and cheese. Everything tastes delicious. The service is alright. They're really busy in the morning so the wait is a bit long at times. The only thing that irks me is that one of the employees/server ALWAYS messes up my order. I get it, it's busy, you have a lot of orders to get to.. but it's every time. I call in advance so when I arrive I'll just have to pick up my order and be on the go. I hate having to wait for my order to be done all over again. Or the fact that it was never being started on to begin with. read more

Everything look deliciously fresh, however the coffee and pineapple cake were slightly stale. I did go there late, but it is still no excuse for anything being stale. I bought a few items but only remembered to take picture of the. The 3 leches cake tasted pretty good, but it's kind of hard to mess up when it's soaking in sweat sweet milk. It's is quite conveniently close to Mt Sinai Hospital, so its worth stopping in if visiting someone. read more

He wasn't there, as usual, but I was greeted by Alicia who after hearing what happened to me and noticing how upset I was, gave me a credit for half the price of the cake. I was looking for an inexpensive tiramisu cake for my sister's birthday and I found this bakery shop, which is called Bakery on 3rd. When I went inside, the place looks like a bit empty, but it needs to have that typical bakery shop quality. there are less selections of pastries in this bakery shop like cookies, slices of chocolate carrot, and red velvet cakes, slices of cheesecakes, Flan, Tres Leches, and pudding. However, They don't have Cannoli and it saids Cannoli on the chalkboard menu, WTH!!. Then, their cakes, it looks like they tried so hard to have that Cake Boss type, but it's too amateurish in my POV. I was looking for a tiramisu cake, but they don't have that. Wha wha whaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!. It only haves chocolate, vanilla, pineapple, and red velvet. This bakery shop is ok but it's not like Maison Kayser and Martha's bakery. It has poor selections of pastries and their cakes look messed up even the ambient of this bakery shop haves less character. read more

Hate leaving a one-star review but was very disappointed with a mini red velvet cake I purchased here. It was the worst I've ever had. It turns out the only reason there's a line out the door for this place is because they accept EBT. This should have set off alarm bells for me as well as the fact that it was only $7.00. I thought I was getting a deal, but I should have known better. As soon as I took the first bite, I wanted to spit it out. The cake crumbs on top that had looked so beautiful in the display case were as dry as beach sand, like grit in my mouth! The cream cheese frosting wasn't cream cheese at all, but rather some kind of whipped topping with a taste and consistently not unlike shaving cream. The inside was dense and dry. Absolutely disgusting. I was embarrassed to bring this cake to my friend's apartment and apologized for how bad it was. I wouldn't blame them one bit if they threw it out. read more

Oh My Lanta! Bakery on 3rd made my day, my week, my month, my year! I went for one, yes one slice of strawberry shortcake, based on a recommendation from a coworker. I wanted a sweet treat on a Friday morning after a long and crazy week at work. One slice. That's all I intended to get. I walked out with four slices of cake, one slice of flan, and a cup of tembleque. I'm not mad about it. See, sometimes food is more about the memories it invokes and when I saw all those pastries lined up so enticingly I was instantly transported to my aunt's kitchen years ago. No one made flan quite like her, and since she passed, no one has been able to replace her flan (not even my flan comes close and I make a pretty mean coconut flan!) So when I saw that flan in the case, all drippy and swimming in caramel and dense yet soft textured, I knew...I just knew that it would taste just like my aunts. And it did. I so did. At first bite, I was moved to silence. I can't believe I even have words for it now. Not only was it tasty, but it was sentimental too so basically it was perfect in every way for me. Naturally, I had to know how the rest of the cakes tasted. So I bought them all. And yes, I tasted them all. They all worked. I recommend the red velvet, strawberry shortcake and of course the flan. I've been going to this bakery since they've first opened. My favorite must haves from here are there soft baked bread, flan, cupcakes (My daughters Fav), there 4 for $1 cookies, I can go on and on. Also they have the best coffee and hot chocolate here. Service is only slow when Bridgette isn't working, the other workers take there time. But I love Bridgette she works fast and sufficiently. As for cakes like birthday cakes, I ordered a bday cake for my daughters birthday and it was melting and leaning to the slide, the cake it self tasted good but it didn't look good on the out side. They made the cake too soft and put a heavy toy which they pushed in and made lean on the cake when tried to close an 8inch cake in a small box...while my mother exited the bakery with my daughter in the snow and tried to get in the uber she noticed the toy was pushed down already so she came back in to ask them to fix the cake THEY REFUSED. If you're about to ordering a Special Cake...., and you MUST read this..... I was looking for a Sweet 16 custom cake for my daughter, I have been to different bakeries, and I decided to order from this bakery, because my daughter and I tried their chocolate and vanilla cake and it was delicious. So, I decided to order a 3 tier cake , I showed pictures of a cake that I saw online, and I gave some of my own ideas for the cake. The cake itself turned out beautiful, elegant, and exactly what was on my mind. But, the writing turned out to be a NIGHTMARE. I told them I want my daughter's name on the second layer of the cake, but the baker put in on the 3rd layer and adding the word "on the second layer" on the cake. In addition, the writing skills itself looks like a kindergartener wrote on it. ARE YOU KIDDING ME.??? , the cake cost me $375. Maybe you might want to question me ; Why I did not check before I left the shop, because the box was taped all over the top, and the lady said that she took pictures of the cake, and the picture that she showed me did not show the writing. In addition, I need to mention that there's no handle on the box to hold and the box is quite slippery when you carry it. I went back to the shop next day, and told the young lady at the front and shown her the cake picture, she apologized for this mistake. She told me because the baker only understood Spanish. I know that it is too late to make any correction, but I hope the owner would be more cautious and have someone to check before it after it's done. I am bi lingual little do these people kno and on more than one occasion I have been bashed for being black and "ugly". Today was my sons 2nd birthday and I purchased a small cake because of the convince of the location, went home let the cake sit for 2 hours and right before I was going to cut the cake I noticed how hard it still was. The frosting literally was rock solid. When I went back to exchange the cake immediately the host starts speaking in Spanish saying that I'm just bitching all the cakes were made this morning. Still I stood quite but then she tried to insult my intelligence by saying I just wanted something to say "black people think they are always right!" This Bakery did my Wedding Cake. The Cake turned out better then I thought it would. I gave them a picture of a Cake that I saw online. They duplicated the Cake exactly. The only negative comment for me is that my husband's initial had been partially smudged in transit. Everything else about the cake was fine. This place has the worst customer service. I bought a cake that cost almost $300 and the cake was sinking. The cake was suppose to be white and there were different colors. It looked like the baker was dealing with a color cake and never washed there hands before dealing with the white cake. The lady behind the counter had the nerve to tell me the manager won't call you back because he is to busy. Me as the customer have to hunt him down and he wasn't going to give me money back maybe a credit. Why would I even go back to such a nasty place like that. Forget the details weren't what I wanted. The inside of the cake fell apart. I had a party of 60 and went through such an embarrassment. Another customer that was there when I was complaining had the same issue. My family happened upon this bakery and what a find!!!! I ordered the pineapple slice and it was the most delicious cake that I've ever eaten. I will revisit this bakery frequently! The only down side , the clerk wasn't quite as helpful or friendly as I would have liked. She wasn't rude but we asked her advise on what she would recommend or what the bakery was known for and she was silent. A patron in the bakery was extremely helpful.
