By far and away the best bakery in Savannah. My children and I adore this place. One daughter had the cookies and cream doughnut, while the other had a chocolate glazed doughnut. They both are happy and full. I had the pumpkin fritter, a seasonal sensation, and it helped bring on the idea of fall. I love that they open at 6 a.m. Because as a teacher I have to be at work at 7:15 and this is a great treat to spend time with girls before work. Haven't gotten anything here bad yet and don't think I ever could! This past week for a friends birthday they put together a box of a dozen pastries and gave me a great selection! I came to Savannah for my birthday and went on a cruise. My husband prepaid for a small birthday cake for me and at the end of dinner I received a small person cake in a white box. I opened it up to find "Best Wishes" written on the cake with a candle taped to the top. The smile dropped from my face as I gave it to my husband. Wow! What a delicious bakery. My husband and I just stopped by because we saw them from the side of the road. I looked them up, saw the reviews, and it did not disappoint! The doughnuts are so thick, fluffy, and flavorful. We got regular glazed and a chocolate glazed. They also have a great selection of special ones too like fritters, caramel glazed, etc. We also got a few cookies that were absolutely delicious. My favorite is a chewy chocolate cookie- it's like a brownie but in cookie form. SO delicious. We had great service, very kind employees and they were ready to help. I came back (like always) and wasn't disappointed! I always have to get some donuts when I come to town. It was the day after St. Patrick's Day, so they were busy (as usual), but I was able to get what I needed. I came early in the morning and they had plenty of donuts! I got a half dozen for my family and picked up donut holes for myself. I go to school in Birmingham and my roommates LOVE their donut holes. I always leave on a Sunday and they are closed then, so I have to wrap them and make sure they survive the trip. They are always a day old when they get there, but they always taste the same! I make sure just to wrap the box in Saran Wrap, which keeps them safe and fresh. I love their donuts, so much better than Krispy Kreme. I love their baked goods as well. I got a blueberry muffin, which I love ( the crumbs are TO DIE FOR), and some of their brownies. The nuts are good and the icing on top really adds to it as well! The staff is always friendly and helpful. Even though they get slammed sometimes, they are always able to offer a friendly face when handing me my donuts. I found Baker's Pride by Internet search for my out of town wedding in Savannah. Thanks to the powers of Yelp and a few other websites, they had great reviews, so I took a chance on booking them to make my wedding cake. A few days before the wedding, they invited me to visit and taste a few of the options that I had for cake and icing. We went with the yellow pudding cake and buttercream frosting. The cake turned out amazing gorgeous and exactly what I described to Tricia, the baker (and I believe owner). Oh, and the taste was heavenly! Bakers Pride offers delivery (for an added fee), and they delivered my cake to the reception. It was all setup when we arrived, and I thank them for being efficient so that I didn't have to worry on my wedding day. I'm only knocking off a star because they do not offer any sort of extras with the cake, such as gum paste flowers or other decorations. It would have been nice if they did or at least contracted someone to make them. I had to provide them myself, and not being a cake decorator I didn't really know much about ordering something like that. They did make a suggestion, so that was at least helpful. They did, however, place the decorations that I purchased on the cake just as I described. read more

I recently had a very dissapointing experience with a particular Savannah Bakery. The situation left me very short of time to select an alternate Baker and arrange to have a 95th birthday cake prepared and delivered to our hotel. I contacted Baker's Pride and immediately thought everything was going to turn out OK. I was told the cake designer would be in touch to go over the particulars. The next day I was contacted by Trisha (the cake designer). She said she would email me (I was operating from the West Coast) a sketch. As the birthday cake was for a WWII US Navy veteran I asked for a Navy theme. Trisha told me her husband was a Navy person and "not too worry". I asked Trisha if she could email me picture of the cake when it was completed as I wanted to include it in a Power Point presentation to the birthday boy. Of course the cake wasn't baked and finished until the afternoon of the schedculed delivery. That afternoon I received the attached picture and the cake was delivered to our hotel as promised. I can't thank the persons, especiallyTrisha, at Baker's Pride for their professionalism and the pride they take in keeping their promises. I was driving from a good distance just to buy some of their great donuts. I called twice around 8:20 am and 8:30 am to place my order for pick up so it would be ready when I got there. What can I say about Baker's pride? What can't I say, is the question! They have fantastic donuts, desserts, cakes, fritters, cookies, pies and other delectable goodies. I try to come here a few times a week. Oftentimes I'm going by and I don't have a plan to come over, but the 'open' sign is lit, so I know that delectable goodness is only a few seconds away. My favorite product must be their chocolate covered donuts, which are two to three times larger than their competitors and are smothered in house made chocolate coating. My secod favorite item must be their fritters. The smalls are large and the large fritters are HUGE! They make their product fresh from scratch and their consistency is awesome. The employee's know me by name and treat everyone like an individual. I've never had any issues with Baker's Pride and I'll continue to enjoy their delectable desserts as long as they remain open and as long as I live in Savannah!
