The next day I went to the promotion with the cake and everyone that was in attendance at the promotion relayed to me that they loved how the cake turned out. No one wanted to cut the cake because it looked so good. I'm going to come back for more cakes. Not only did the cake look good, but it tasted amazing. The cake did not contain a bunch of frosting and icing like some places. We will be back for our next cake. I've been here 4 years and have been searching high and low for anything Haitian (other than the art and square downtown) and was pleasantly surprised when I stopped by to grab coffee and saw Haitian baked goods. As a Haitian, this place is the real deal! The pate (meat turnovers) were SO good. This place needs more attention. There are eleven fresh squeezed juices and other baked goods go vegetarians and vegans. Very cool! I met the owner, and she is so lovely. We had a great conversation and her energy is divine. Lulucakes is small, but you are only picking up your baked goods and leaving. So there is no need for tables. When you walk in you're greeted with 2 display cases. They are generally not completely full. But there is always a good variety. The bakers are kind and friendly. You can order whole cakes, tarts, cheesecakes etc from the bakery. They are all delicious and worth the price! My husband and I have yet to eat a dessert or piece of cake from Lulu's that we have not enjoyed. They also make wedding cakes and cater events. The flavors and varieties that they offer are far and wide. The best way to see them all is to go to their website. But if you just want a quick sugar fix you can walk into the bakery and order right out of the case. Here are a few of my favorites: strawberry suspension cake, lime and coconut tart, and brown butter pecan cookies. All are delicious! They are located in the business center at hodgson memorial and Eisenhower. There is plenty of parking. They keep regular business hours. If you are craving sugar give Lulucakes a try you will not be disappointed!

You walk in and to the right there is a food case where you order your meal. There is a variety of different soul food items each day, so you may want to call ahead of time if you're looking for a certain item. The day I was there I ordered the Lasagna, it was simply the most delicious Lasagna I've ever had. Although it did not taste like it was made in Italy, It tasted like mama made it. It was seasoned to perfection and enough to share, although I did not share. My sides were good too. The Mac and Cheese is the show stopper on every plate, make sure to try it. They also offer some of the best cupcakes my favorite is the key lime cupcake, they offer it with or without nuts. I like mine without nuts. I've also tried their red velvet cupcake and that come with or without nuts. That's my daughter's favorite flavor. Oh and the cakes, I don't think I've ever seen so many in one place before. The cakes are displayed like royalty in the cutest covered cake dishes. Looks like about ten are out on display all the time. Only to be extremely disappointed we chose the Lemon Blueberry because of great reviews as well as it being seasonal. There wasn't even a hint of lemon and the blueberries were all but none excitant only small pieces of the berries. The most powerful flavor was the icing and it wasn't lemon flavored it was a butter cream which is apparently standard. Not to mention the icing was stuck to plastic wrap which the cake was wrapped in. Just overall not a very good experience sadly. It's a great concept but flavor wise and wrapping was a large disappointment. I want give up we will just stick with chocolate or red velvet.
