Found this gem when I was on a road trip. I got the cinnamon apple refresher so good. The skinny breakfast sandwich egg white, cheese and turkey sausage on English muffin enjoyed it. My friend got the fat boy it was huge she loved it. And cinnamon Dutch apple chi which she said was amazing. The service was nice and friendly. What happened? After the best egg sandwich ever i got one that had a lousy small piece of i dont know what passing as cheese. And a square bland thing i suppose was egg, or egg product. Bagel mediocre. I didnt finish it. My ice coffee not so hot. I bought this combo several Times a week all summer, and at start of this summer said I won't be going again. We moved to the area a couple months ago and we've been looking for a good place for coffee. My husband goes to the Y at five in the morning and then grabs a coffee here and the last few times he has also grabbed one for me. He gets me a mocha. It's coffee, milk and chocolate syrup. The first time he got it it was so dark and undrinkable. It tasted like dirt. the second time he went back, I don't know how he changed the order a little so it wasn't so disgusting and it was still completely disgusting but different than the first time. The second time taste like burnt coffee with whole milk and no mocha no chocolate no nothing but excessive amount amounts of Splenda or an artificial sweetener. I told him to just stop. please don't get me another. It's not worth the money and they've both been undrinkable. read more

It's been awhile since I stopped here, and it's still a place that has excellent donuts, muffins, pastries, etc. Much better than the large chain that decided to delete the word "donuts" during its rebranding. If the rating were solely based on the quality of the donuts I bought, it would be a solid 4, possibly even 4.5. The reason for the lower score is the "donut upcharge" I noticed on the receipt when I got home. I called the business and was told there is an upcharge for certain donuts (oreos and double chocolate among them). So, I got charged an additional 80 cents for the one oreo donut I bought. It's not the 80 cents that bothered me, it's the fact that there's no signage re: this. Nor did the clerk mention it. Just kind of ticked me off. Buyer beware. read more

While driving through an unfamiliar part of CT, we came across A Baker's Dozen! My fiancé wanted to stop in and get a coffee, and when I saw their donuts, I knew I had to give them a try! I tried the Boston cream and chocolate frosted. They weren't bad, though I've had better - it was earlier in the day and they already seemed a bit stale. Pretty solid donuts. These aren't the greatest donuts I've ever had but I've been wanting to try them for a while and was surprised that they were pretty good. I always pass this on my way to family in CT so finally making the trip was worth it for sure. The yeast donuts are generally better than the cake donuts...although the pumpkin & apple cider donuts were very tasty & those were cake... so maybe they're all just good and I'm being bratty because I did end up eating all of them anyway. It's convenient because there's a drive through so you might as well stop if you're passing by. Looks like they have a lot of yummy drink/coffee options as well. read more

A very cool place! All kinds of donuts and muffins and bagels and turnovers and even feta-spinach pastries. I stopped on the way to Rhode Island tonight to take a break, and was very impressed at their huge dining room -it looked like someone's living room with a fireplace, plenty of tables and seating nooks with big stuffed chairs. The server was pleasant and chatty, my coffee and snack were great. They even have a drive-through lane for those in a hurry to get their caffeine fix. Disappointed after having heard good things about this place. I was there 30 mins after opening and 3/4 of the pastries were not available yet. "We just opened." Sorry. If you are opening, I would think the shelved would be filled and ready for customers. Very disappointed with the muffin. The clerk said these weren't their best muffins. Seriously? Fantastic location with a really nice seating area. We stopped here really needing a good coffee and I got an amazingly well made and tasty one. I loved their list - lots of choices. I had never seen Hazelnut Truffle so I went with one of those iced. Service was so friendly and fast even though their drive thru was really busy. We also got a seltzer water. The coffee was perfect. It turns out the truffle partner is mocha syrup - no complaints there! The cream was done perfectly too. I was kicking myself for not buying 2 coffees as sharing that one made it go super fast due to how nice it tasted. I will definitely go out of my way to visit again if I'm in the area! read more

I went to the location in Putnam. Excellent service both times. I got a turkey sandwich the first visit, and an everything bagel with butter today. Both were wonderfully fresh and tasty, as well as done correctly. Pricing is also good. Will put Bakers Dozen on my regular rotation. I strongly recommend them. read more

I've been three times so far, and the donuts have been good each time, even late morning or early afternoon. I don't drink coffee, so I can't help you there, but they do seem to support a lot of CT businesses, which was nice to see. Mountain Dairy and Hosmer are a couple examples that I remember off-hand. read more

I drive by this Bakery on my way to work. My favorites are some of their unique bagel flavors (spinach, pumpernickel). They have a wide selection of snacks and fresh items every day! This is quite a cute little find. Their pastries include oversized muffins, donuts, turnovers, and fritters. I haven't indulged yet - but they sure look delicious! I'm also pretty picky about my coffee, and I really like what they serve here. In the fall they have a pumpkin flavored (brewed right in, none of that sugary syrup stuff). When I stop before work to get coffee and a bagel I am always promptly served , great service!! If you are in the area, definitely go!! read more

Great local coffee shop. Best place to stop on my way to Hartford. Iced coffee and hot coffee is great with lots of flavors. Everyone is very friendly. Drive-thru is also such a perk! i still owe them $5. went in with my 4yo after we camped out at Mashamoquet the night prior. donut, muffin, chocolate milk, coffee. problem i ran in to was only after they made the coffee --- all i had was an AmEx, no cash, no debit, nothing. guess who doesn't take AmEx?. i apologized and was about to leave... the girl at the register was very apologetic but another girl walking behind her said, "just give it to them," and smiled at my 4yo. there was no one in the place besides the girls working -- it was only 6:45 or so in the morning -- but they were very excellent for doing this. i am going to send the $5 i owe, later this week. read more

Caramel iced coffee was delicious & strong, but the donuts were just ok. They tasted fine but the filling was minimal...very minimal. Threw away much of the bread portion which equaled about 2 of the 3 donuts. (See pictures) Not cheap either..I believe each donut was $1.29 & the coffee $3.99 for a large iced. I'll stick with DD, but if you're dying for a donut in the middle of nowhere, this is the place to go. Staff was courteous, professional & very friendly. read more

My sister always stops at Bakers Dozen in Pomfret on her way here from New Jersey. I was with her on her 2nd trip to the bakery on Saturday to pick up some coffee. She pulled into the drive thru and asked for a large Mocha Iced latte and 2 hot mocha latte's. The girl who took the order seemed almost angry about it as she mumbled for us to move up to the window. She handed my sister the iced latte minus the mocha and 2 room temperature latte's also minus the mocha. When my sister asked if there was mocha, she very rudely stated my sister never asked for it while ordering and roughly grabbed the iced latte and added it in, also being angry about having to add it into the hot latte's, which she handed back all dripping in coffee. She basically threw napkins at her and promptly shut the window. We determined that the "hot" latte's were room temperature and we went in to ask for a manager. The supervisor was there to hear our complaints and she did remake the hot latte's and apologized. But here is my concern: How rude of the original girl to tell my sister what she had ordered when clearly I was sitting right on the side of her and heard every word.....to tell a customer that they essentially lied when ordering is NOT professional and her attitude was so rude about everything, right from the start. She really shouldn't be working with people if she can't be nice and respectful. Maybe she should find a position where she works alone in a cubicle somewhere. I was infuriated that my sister was treated that way and she is a loyal customer every time she comes up. Horrifying service. I personally will not be returning to this establishment and I will be glad to share this experience with anyone who asks. Don't get me wrong I love bakers, it's my preferred coffee stop, however there are some things that disappoint me. There is a girl who works early mornings on Fridays an usually waits on the customers, he has a terrible attitude. She never asks questions or try's to assist anyone, she's just plain rude. Also I never see anyone wash their hands or put gloves on to make sandwiches which is wrong especially after they've been handling money. I have been going to Baker's for years now and, while the crew members are wonderful, the coffee is often burnt and not refreshed well throughout the day. I, myself, work at another coffeeshop and I would NEVER serve burnt coffee. Not only this, but the managers are rude and unfair to their employees--picking favorites and punishing others for the managers' own faults (like lack of proper training). I do not support any establishment that treats their girls in such a way. I will no longer be supporting Baker's Dozen, nor any of Ken or Margaret's side jobs. I am ashamed of the way that this, what I thought to be, half-way decent establishment manages itself. Shame. read more
