Dr. Whitney understandably wanted to know a bit more about what was going on before doing the testing, especially since Lulu usually has required sedation to have blood draws. In fact Dr. W took plenty of time getting all the history of the current issue plus requesting prior history to better care for Lulu. When the time came, she was able to draw the blood without any sedation, a real bonus for Lulu and for me. My interaction with her over some complex problems was excellent. She clearly cares about animals, is a skilled communicator as well as technically proficient. Highly recommend.

As the years passed, Snowy experienced other issues with his heart, cognitive functioning, and balance As he was aging. I've always felt that the clinic staff and Dr Di Maio truly cared about Snowys well-being. Last Friday I had to make the extremely difficult decision to euthanize Snowy his quality of life rapidly declined. This was the most painful and hard decision I've had to make I couldn't see him suffering. Dr.Di Maio was kind, compassionate explained every step during the process. Some of the issues we experienced at Redwood ... The staff is awful, as in they all roll their eyes at her when she has her back to them, and when they are in the room with her, she's training them as they go. She hires people that are totally unskilled as vet techs, and she probably pays them poorly. They all look miserable. Her office is also dark and like a weird version of "Get Out", vet edition. Our pup had a UTI, and Genevieve had us worried that something was seriously wrong with our pup, and she pushed $800 of tests on us. Then, she didn't bother to tell us that she was taking off on vacation for over a week, so we sat in misery waiting for her to get back and tell us the results, because no one else in her office could do that. Basically, we helped fund her stupid vaca, because there was nothing wrong with our dog. She then told me that our pup has a thyroid issue (despite her thyroid level being normal on the tests!!) and prescribed meds for her- she totally misdiagnosed her and was going to put her on meds for no reason. I did not get the meds, as I knew she was totally erroneous in her diagnosis. Finally, when I emailed her about my concerns and shared that we felt frustrated by her lack of care....about her freaking us out needlessly...running a bunch of unneeded tests, and subjecting our poor dog to unnecessary pokes and jabs, and about her not letting us know that we wouldn't have the test results as she was taking off on vaca (leaving us hanging for over a week)....she merely responded " do what you gotta do". As in, she could not care less if we left her practice. I'm not mincing my words here...she is total trash, and completely negligent and unethical. I think you really have to be a terrible person to run your business like this, and to treat pets and people this way. Absolutely avoid her and this place. **NOTE most of her 5 star reviews are fake profiles (with one review only). This is an indicator of false profiles to help boost her ratings. About our pup and her UTI, we found (via NextDoor) a wonderful vet practice in Fairfax, and we have been taking her there ever since. We learned that our sweet girl just needed the right antibiotic to clear up that UTI, that was all!

My kitty is very sweet but shy and she is always very calm and gentle with him while performing an exam. I did contact my Discover Card and they sided with me after seeing the paper work from another Vet that I went to. I don't want to mentioned their name. Dr V called me a fraud through my Discover Card back and forth notes. I feel this is malpractice. Dr. V diagnosis is "Your dog is old and should be euthanize." Dr V. also shaved my dog's neck and drew blood from her carotid artery. How barbaric. Thank God I went to another Vet. My dog would not be with me today if I trusted her. This makes me sad and in tears.

She works wonders with my rather challenging herding dog, but maybe more importantly, she has managed to instill quite a bit of confidence in me as a handler/owner/trainer. Her methods require real effort and dedication, but they are all connected, very effective and well thought out. She always has the dog's experience and well being in mind, and is 10 steps ahead of every situation. I don't think trainers come better than Sarah Mullen. But more than her professional skills, she is a kind, caring person who invests a lot of time and energy because she actually wants the best for her clients and their dogs. This is a rather rare quality to find these days, and I am very grateful for it. I cannot recommend her enough. Be prepared to commit to training, because our dogs deserve that commitment, and it will be an incredibly rewarding and fun experience.

She was able to tell me things about my dog's behavior that I was unable to see even after living with him for over 10 years. She clearly loves animals and I could see it in the way my dog responded to her. Her method does require you, as the owner, to participate. She is not going to do it all for you, but there is the reward along the way for both you and your best friend: you can communicate better, feel more confident both on and off-leash, and generally enjoy each other much, much more.
