It's been two months since Gabby's surgery, and I thought it was time to write a review…read more I did a lot of research before choosing the right doctor for her ACL surgery. I lost my first dog on the operating table when I was much younger. Back then, I was young ,trusting, and I believed that any licensed vet could do the job. That experience was deeply traumatic. for Gabby, I looked into almost every clinic that performs this kind of surgery in the bay area--read every review on Google and Yelp, sometimes multiple times. It came down to three options. The first one was close to where I live. We went to check it out. It felt more like an emergency room--very professional, but also very clinical. The doctors reviewed Gabby's case like it was a project. Not necessarily bad, just not very personal, at all. The second one was more budget-friendly, but had mixed reviews. The doctor said there'd be no pre-check or consultation--just bring Gabby in on the day of surgery. That didn't sit right with me. Then there was Dr. Sam's clinic. It's not the closest, and while not the cheapest, the price seemed reasonable--and now I could see why. When we went in for the first visit, Dr. Sam sat across from me. Gabby was lying next to me at first, then got up, walked over to him, and laid down by his side. I almost cried--it felt like Gabby made the choice for us. The consultation was very thorough. They even followed up on an old heart murmur diagnosis just to be safe. We tested her pee twice because fitst time the sample was small (i didn't manage to get much of her pee). Everything was explained clearly. The clinic was clean, everyone was kind, and organized, and the energy there just felt good. It felt like they really care. After surgery, I had questions, and they responded quickly every time. Today, we went in for the two-week checkup, and Gabby is doing great. They've been so cautious, so caring, and clearly experienced. I honestly feel lucky that Dr. Sam was the one to operate on Gabby. I'd recommend him and his team to anyone. He's an angel--and so is everyone who works there. Thank you!

I ended up having it done in South Lake Tahoe. It cost $4,000. Marin county has become ridiculous with Care for animals. I think a lot of it has to do with pet insurance. A Vet recently told me that if you dog needs surgery just go about a hundred miles away from the Bay area. You can probably pay for a hotel and have a vacation in a place like Carson City or South Lake Tahoe and still have money left over after paying for your dogs surgery..

I have been to a few other vets in Marin, and none hold a candle to MVPC. They are warm, clean, accommodating, and gracious caretakers of our (mostly) fur-clad family members. Our puppy has been in wonderful care of the team here and they have been upfront and proactive with scheduling and pricing which we really appreciate. Pets are an investment and this clinic is ran with compassion and integrity. They also helped me with my beloved senior kitty as I navigated her unfortunate decline. From guidance on next steps, estimates on needed procedures, and flexibility when it was time to say goodbye I am so grateful to have been able to put my girl in their care. Thank you Dr. Harding for all of your help with Mila, you are beyond wonderful and loving to even the spiciest of girls (and boys I'm sure). Take your pets here and find your vet home.

You pay a membership fee for Modern Animal, but that covers exam fees all year and also gives you 24/7 access to chat, call or message them through the app. The app gives you access to all the information you need ie lab results, and what screenings are due for your pet at any given time. We found the experience to be wonderful- it was easy to book an appointment through the app, easy to have questions answered, and the visit at the vet was great. The nurse and techs who helped us were so kind, skilled, and sweet to our dog. And Dr. Sindell was great- she is thoughtful, smart, and also was so gentle and loving to our dog! I also was thinking of buying her flea/tick/heart work meds online, but found that the price they charged was exactly the same price as the lowest that I had found online! So we got her meds there. Overall- a great experience, clean clinic, the app makes it all easy to navigate, and Dr. Sindell is wonderful!

I have been brushing his fur every few days since that appointment. I've found maybe 3 fleas. No fleas. No eggs. We were told SEVERE infestation. I'm truly convinced they planted fleas to convince us to buy pricey flea meds.

Some of the issues we experienced at Redwood ... The staff is awful, as in they all roll their eyes at her when she has her back to them, and when they are in the room with her, she's training them as they go. She hires people that are totally unskilled as vet techs, and she probably pays them poorly. They all look miserable. Her office is also dark and like a weird version of "Get Out", vet edition. Our pup had a UTI, and Genevieve had us worried that something was seriously wrong with our pup, and she pushed $800 of tests on us. Then, she didn't bother to tell us that she was taking off on vacation for over a week, so we sat in misery waiting for her to get back and tell us the results, because no one else in her office could do that. Basically, we helped fund her stupid vaca, because there was nothing wrong with our dog. She then told me that our pup has a thyroid issue (despite her thyroid level being normal on the tests!!) and prescribed meds for her- she totally misdiagnosed her and was going to put her on meds for no reason. I did not get the meds, as I knew she was totally erroneous in her diagnosis. Finally, when I emailed her about my concerns and shared that we felt frustrated by her lack of care....about her freaking us out needlessly...running a bunch of unneeded tests, and subjecting our poor dog to unnecessary pokes and jabs, and about her not letting us know that we wouldn't have the test results as she was taking off on vaca (leaving us hanging for over a week)....she merely responded " do what you gotta do". As in, she could not care less if we left her practice. I'm not mincing my words here...she is total trash, and completely negligent and unethical. I think you really have to be a terrible person to run your business like this, and to treat pets and people this way. Absolutely avoid her and this place. **NOTE most of her 5 star reviews are fake profiles (with one review only). This is an indicator of false profiles to help boost her ratings. About our pup and her UTI, we found (via NextDoor) a wonderful vet practice in Fairfax, and we have been taking her there ever since. We learned that our sweet girl just needed the right antibiotic to clear up that UTI, that was all!

Multiple odd experiences, but the final one that sent me packing was when my cat was acting odd (clearly something was wrong). He was sensitive on his tail and hiding, cowering, and avoiding us. The vet did some poking around manually--maybe 2 minutes total. When he couldn't determine the cause, he suggested all the tests--blood, urine, x-rays--and left the room for his tech to present them to me. That was it. No more vet. $1200! Nope. He never said anything like, "Based on what you're telling me, I think it might be this." Or "When cats are in pain, they hide." Or "Here's what we can do, given you don't have $1200 to spend." Nope. I don't have $ 1,200 to run every test on my cat, who very likely was in a catfight. But I do have $200 to get a quality vet check-up and get a good opinion from an expert. I opted for the pain reliever. Days went by. No change. I called them back. Spoke to the lovely front desk person. I got that she couldn't do much--her hands are clearly tied, though her heart is all good. I transferred to my old vet. She did exactly what I would expect a vet to do: "Sounds like a fight. Even if I can't find the puncture wound, I can feel a bump, and I think an antibiotic injection is a good next step." $200 later, and my cat is feeling better (actually, $400, because I had the useless Alto visit). Finally, when Alto gave me a $50 pain reliever, they were out of the full prescription, so they cobbled together a mix of 1/4 feline, 1/4 human- or dog-sized, and the remaining 1/4 they asked me to return for when it came back in stock. I picked up the remaining 1/4. I asked if I could exchange (or simply get a replacement) for the large pills so I could have a full prescription of feline-sized pain reliever, but they offered to charge me for them. Nope! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLINIC. I couldn't put my finger on it during the year I was with them, but I'm now sure it's just not the place for us (and maybe not for you). There are several 1-star reviews on Yelp. I suggest you read them
