Recently, Jallestino had a sudden health concern that worried me. I brought him in for a complete evaluation, including labs and a full physical exam. From the moment we arrived, the entire team was patient, gentle, and incredibly thorough. Although his usual veterinarian is Dr. Kristensen (who is absolutely wonderful), she was unavailable that day. Instead, Jallestino was seen by Dr. Ryen Morey, who treated him with genuine kindness and professionalism. What touched me the most was the follow-up: I received two personal calls from Dr. Wentzell, who took the time to answer every question I had with such clarity, patience, and compassion. It's rare to find veterinarians who go out of their way to support you emotionally as well as medically, and that meant the world to me. The front-desk team and pharmacy staff also deserve recognition. They are always warm and attentive. Today, Jallestino is 100% recovered -- healthy, stable, and purring like an angel again. If you're looking for a veterinary clinic where your fur baby will be treated with compassion, professionalism, and real attention to detail, I recommend Fairfax Veterinary Clinic.

When we first moved to Marin, I took our pup to this vet a few times. I was mortified by the…read moreunprofessional and gross behavior and attitude of the vet, Genevieve Manchester. Some of the issues we experienced at Redwood ... The staff is awful, as in they all roll their eyes at her when she has her back to them, and when they are in the room with her, she's training them as they go. She hires people that are totally unskilled as vet techs, and she probably pays them poorly. They all look miserable. Her office is also dark and like a weird version of "Get Out", vet edition. Our pup had a UTI, and Genevieve had us worried that something was seriously wrong with our pup, and she pushed $800 of tests on us. Then, she didn't bother to tell us that she was taking off on vacation for over a week, so we sat in misery waiting for her to get back and tell us the results, because no one else in her office could do that. Basically, we helped fund her stupid vaca, because there was nothing wrong with our dog. She then told me that our pup has a thyroid issue (despite her thyroid level being normal on the tests!!) and prescribed meds for her- she totally misdiagnosed her and was going to put her on meds for no reason. I did not get the meds, as I knew she was totally erroneous in her diagnosis. Finally, when I emailed her about my concerns and shared that we felt frustrated by her lack of care....about her freaking us out needlessly...running a bunch of unneeded tests, and subjecting our poor dog to unnecessary pokes and jabs, and about her not letting us know that we wouldn't have the test results as she was taking off on vaca (leaving us hanging for over a week)....she merely responded " do what you gotta do". As in, she could not care less if we left her practice. I'm not mincing my words here...she is total trash, and completely negligent and unethical. I think you really have to be a terrible person to run your business like this, and to treat pets and people this way. Absolutely avoid her and this place. **NOTE most of her 5 star reviews are fake profiles (with one review only). This is an indicator of false profiles to help boost her ratings. About our pup and her UTI, we found (via NextDoor) a wonderful vet practice in Fairfax, and we have been taking her there ever since. We learned that our sweet girl just needed the right antibiotic to clear up that UTI, that was all!

We were afraid Gabby's state of pain and discomfort was exponentially increasing and so grateful that we could book online immediately (versus many services which we would have to call and wait for a reply). Dr. Gorczyca was able to arrive within 24 hours, a Sunday morning. He helped advise us on how much to involve our young son (age 9) and gave a really transparent, thoughtful overview of what to expect. Dr. Gorczyca brought so much beauty and care and love to Gabby's last hour with us. We could talk about all of what we loved and remembered about her, which was also helpful for my son to feel involved and start to grapple with the reality of Gabby's passing (which he had been avoiding the feelings of). Dr. Gorczyca read beautiful poems inspired by Gabby's life, and then lead beautiful rituals as said goodbye. Our gratitude to Dr. Gorczyca and A Gentle Rest are beyond words.

Not only did we have to cut our trip short, but the standard of care that was promised was not delivered. Lorna promised to call when she started to let us know everything was OK. When I hadn't heard from her, I got nervous and called her. Lorna had trouble getting the front door key to work, but instead of calling (she had multiple phone numbers to use and instructions to call if anything came up), her plan was to try again the next day -- without feeding the cats or letting us know that there had been a problem. That judgment on her part nearly caused my fiance to fly home immediately. We suggested that she try WD40 in the lock -- rather than the wax she had thought of trying -- and she got in. I should note that we examined the lock and the key upon our return and had absolutely no trouble locking or unlocking the door. We locked and unlocked it a couple of dozen times and were able to open the door every time. After that first day, we felt we needed to check in every day, and when Lorna reported more trouble with the lock, we decided to return early as we did not trust that she could reliably manage the situation. She had also promised to clean the 3 litter boxes once per day (if not, it can get to be quite a mess). We were gone 4 days and the boxes had never been cleaned. Upon our return, there was urine and feces outside all of the boxes. Lorna also promised to clean out the water dish (we have a drink well), it was dirty and there was food debris in the bottom. Bottom line...Although Lorna seems to be a nice person who cares a lot about animals, she did not demonstrate the level of professionalism one would expect from a full-time pet sitter. If and when we need a cat sitter again, I plan on calling our veterinarian for a recommendation.
