What is the pricing for an office visit? Are you taking new clients?

Hi Zannie, the prices are a bit on the high side, but you get what you pay for; which is very good care, and an attentive veterinarian and staff. Their voice mail states they are not accepting new clients. If you have a friend who is a client, you…

As the years passed, Snowy experienced other issues with his heart, cognitive functioning, and balance As he was aging. I've always felt that the clinic staff and Dr Di Maio truly cared about Snowys well-being. Last Friday I had to make the extremely difficult decision to euthanize Snowy his quality of life rapidly declined. This was the most painful and hard decision I've had to make I couldn't see him suffering. Dr.Di Maio was kind, compassionate explained every step during the process. My two adult sons were there as Snowy transitioned over the rainbow bridge.. My adult son commented " He's really a good doctor". Thank you for your caring presence. Angela

I have never had an issue with the medical care I've received, and I will absolutely continue bringing my dog here because of them. That being said, my experience with the receptionist has unfortunately been very different. There have been multiple occasions where I've called and felt that she was rude, had an attitude, or spoke to me in a condescending manner. I've let it go several times because I'm not someone who likes conflict, but today was the point where I felt I needed to say something. I called last minute to see if there was any possibility of getting an appointment, and I completely understand that scheduling can be difficult. However, when I asked how long I could expect to be there and to ensure I was getting an appointment with the actual doctor because I needed to coordinate work, my kids, my pets, and everything else that comes with managing a household, I was told, verbatim, "I don't have to explain my scheduling to you," in a very condescending tone. I wasn't asking her to explain or justify the clinic's scheduling. I was simply trying to get an idea of how long my visit might take, especially because there have been times when I've had an appointment and ended up being there for over an hour. As a client juggling a lot of responsibilities, having an estimate helps me plan. I am always polite and respectful when I speak with staff, even when I'm frustrated. And having worked in customer service and previously worked at the front desk of a veterinary hospital myself, I know that things can get busy and stressful. But there is still a basic level of professionalism and customer service that should be maintained. I truly love the doctors and techs here and have nothing but good things to say about the care they provide. I just hope the front-desk experience can improve, because the way clients are spoken to matters too. Great medical care deserves great customer service to match.

Because of that long relationship, what happened during our dog's final days was incredibly disappointing. After learning that our dog had terminal lung cancer, we were devastated and desperately looking for guidance from a veterinarian who knew his history. We weren't seeking treatment--we simply needed help understanding our options and support as we faced one of the hardest decisions a pet owner can make. The following day, I called multiple times asking to speak with a veterinarian. Each time I was told someone would call me back, but no one did. Instead, I was eventually told the next available phone appointment was several days away, despite explaining that our dog was terminally ill and rapidly declining. To make matters worse, the receptionist I spoke with during my final call was dismissive and lacked compassion. During one of the most heartbreaking moments of our lives, I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing the staff simply by asking to speak with one of the veterinarians who had cared for our dog over the years. Our dog passed away before we ever heard back. This experience was incredibly disappointing. After years of trusting this practice with our dog's care, we expected compassion and support when we needed it most, and unfortunately, that wasn't our experience. Because of what happened, we would encourage others to carefully consider their options when choosing veterinary care, especially if compassionate communication during difficult moments is important to them.

A few years ago we started seeing Dr. Ortiz and absolutely love her! Because I like to build a relationship with our vet much like my own personal physician, I make routine appointments specifically asking for Dr. Ortiz. Sometimes we get scheduled with her and sometimes not, which I find unacceptable. To secure time with Dr. Ortiz, I waited a month and accepted a time way later in the day than I like for a recent routine appointment. Only once we were in the exam room, I was told that we would be seen by a different vet. I get that things come up and appointments change, but I see a pattern with this that I don't appreciate. And while I always voice my concerns, I feel like nobody even cares anymore. I think this clinic's business model no longer meets my needs and I will be looking for a new vet.

IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY, GO HERE!!!!…read more I hardly write reviews, let alone one this long, but after everything that happened, I feel like I owe it to this team. My cat, Theodore, suffered a rectal prolapse on a Sunday. It was one of the most terrifying experiences I've ever been through. He was in excruciating pain, vomiting, having diarrhea, yelping, and literally had tissue protruding from his body. I genuinely thought I was going to lose him. Before finding Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin, I called well over ten emergency veterinary hospitals throughout Marin and San Francisco. Every single one either had wait times ranging from hours to over ten hours, couldn't perform surgery for days, or simply didn't have the staff to take another emergency. I was driving from place to place and calling anyone I could think of while watching Theodore continue to suffer. By that point, I felt completely helpless. Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin was the only hospital that could take him almost immediately. Within minutes of arriving, he was being evaluated and prepared for surgery. After spending hours hearing "no," finally hearing someone say they could help was something I'll never forget. What impressed me even more was the quality of care. Every single person I interacted with -- from the reception staff, to the nurses, to the discharge team, to the veterinarian -- was compassionate, patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly communicative. They never made me feel like I was asking too many questions, and they took the time to explain every step of Theodore's care. Theodore had been dealing with a complicated medical situation for months that involved a lot of uncertainty. Their team quickly helped me understand what was happening and what needed to happen next. For the first time in months, I finally felt like I had answers and that Theodore was in the right hands. One thing that really stood out to me was that the care didn't stop when we walked out the door. The follow-up from the doctor and staff has been incredible. Recovering from an emergency like this is overwhelming, but they continued to answer my questions, check in, and make sure Theodore was doing well. I'm happy to say that he's recovering very well, and I'm beyond grateful for everything they've done for both of us. I genuinely cannot thank this team enough. They were there when no one else could be, and I'll never forget that. If your pet is having an emergency, I cannot recommend Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin highly enough. I truly don't know what would have happened if they hadn't been there. The only thing I wish is that they offered primary veterinary care, because after this experience I would enroll Theodore there in a heartbeat. Thank you to everyone at Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin for taking such incredible care of my little boy. I'll always be grateful.
