I came to Sarah based on high recommendation from my new veterinarian. Negative experiences beyond my control had made my senior dog extremely reactive and fear based, and this had begun to severely circumscribe her life in every respect. Remarkably, Sarah immediately established a rapport with her, which is a testimony to Sarah's ability to read, respect, and empathize with stressed animals. With that first lesson and every other lesson we had for several months, we were able to make solid, visible progress in helping my senior dog become happy, confident, friendly, and well behaved in many different environments. I say "we" because Sarah's method of positive reinforcement is based on teamwork between her and the dog guardian, in their common goal to help the animal feel safe. I had homework, too. Sarah thoroughly and steadily prepared me to better provide a consistent, positively rewarded environment for my dog, to reduce her stress. We did this by giving my dog a "toolkit" of new behavior skills that helped structure her responses in multiple situations. This in turn made my dog feel safely in control. It's a tall order for a dog trainer to accomplish, to teach the dog guardian how to successfully train the dog, and Sarah does it professionally, consistently, respectfully, and compassionately. My dog and I always looked forward to our weekly visits with Sarah. I do not hesitate to recommend her with the highest commendations. read more
