Originally drafted back in June, I had them at 5-stars, then had to adjust accordingly…read more
Someone recommended this place to me after I was heading to my regular cleaners over in Century City. Being much closer, I figured I would give them a try with a white dress I was planning to give away.
A nice lady helped me-Maria-and when I asked her if they accepted cash, she said they accepted everything which meant we were off to a good start. I was here on Thursday or Friday, and the order was expected to be ready the following Monday.
Giving them another day, I stopped by on Tuesday and had a nice man retrieve my dress. Total was $16.95 for a dress which was reasonable, and they did a really good job. Truth is, the dress didn't have visible dirt per se but I just wanted it cleaned before I handed it off to someone else, and they did the job well.
Next up was a delicate white shirt which was nearly $15 at my old cleaners, here, it was half that. And again, they cleaned this up nicely.
After multiple visits over the past couple months, this pretty much seals the deal that Abe's is my new dry cleaner. Friendly staff, items are ready when they say they will be (an issue I had at my previous place), and my clothing looks great.
Update: Brought in a sweater to be cleaned in early August. Went out of town, then returned to pick it up a week later as per the receipt. They couldn't find it so they told me to give them another week. Things happen, so I came back the week after. Still no luck, so I was then told to return at the start of next month. I arrived on the first, and now was told to come after Labor Day, and they would give me money which I have to say I was grateful for instead of receiving 'credit towards future business/cleaning'. I understand giving them time to search for it but after four attempts, this was getting ridiculous.
In all my years of taking clothes to a cleaner, I've never had anything go missing. What disappointed me the most was over the course of my visits, there was never an apology until Maria handed the money over
(lucky for the both of us, I admit the sweater was bought on sale).
I did see another review saying they believe their clothing was stolen here; I brought in nicer clothes prior to this so I honestly don't believe that was the case in my situation.
One star didn't feel fair because I was thinking of how things were, and things were great up until this. I would consider returning; as I would like to think this could happen at any cleaners but understandably, I'm a little wary. I also wonder if they would even welcome me back but since I didn't do anything wrong on my part, I don't see why they wouldn't. I'm conflicted.
