I'm so upset. I just bought a vintage lv bag. My fiancé brought it in to get the vachetta cleaned and my bag looks dirty and more worn than when I took it in. I'm not even sure how that is possible. I was charged 100 dollars for this and I'm so so upset. I wasn't told they would darker the vachetta. I don't even mind that's it's darker it's just not even cleaned. If you need an lv cleaned please don't come here they will ruin your purse. I should have just kept it as is if knew this would be the outcome... 0/10 experience. Also I initially just wanted the tag cleaned with the white stain but the lady told my fiancé no and that they had to leave all the leather at once.. which I didn't understand. read more

They're friendly and the shop is clean and what not but they dont do a great job and they charge too much. I had them stitch back together a small panel on a pair of boots that was maybe 10-12 stitches total. They're work on the boot is not very clean and still looks a little mangled compared to the other one, that I left with them so they could use it for reference. They charged me $65 for the job which seems a bit much considering they did a poor repair job. read more

I have had a hard time finding a good cobbler in LA, so when I came across this place, I was so excited. It was such a pleasant experience. I brought in a belt to be shortened, and their work was quick and high quality. I will definitely be back. It's important to note that it's cash only, so be prepared. Based on my one and only visit so far I am very satisfied. I'll let you know if the repair job falls apart. The last cobbler I frequented for years, also locally was very intimidating. He was grumpy, not nice so this place is a breath of fresh air. The couple that runs this location is very nice. I don't know what to tell you about the price of what I had done because I think everything is individual and subjective. I paid $45 to have two shoes re-glued. Good shoes at that, I was told but the glue breaks down from not being used or worn. When all was said and done I asked for one of the pairs to be buffed and shined and a minor cosmetic defect repaired and they did it all without up selling or charging me more. I was grateful for that. I expected to pay for the extra service but it says a lot about the business. Parking is a breeze as the business is storefront and not very busy. The street is busy so you have to figure out how to access it and not get killed with the massive traffic around that intersection of Fairfax and third. read more

I brought in 3 pairs of shoes - cap toe dress shoes, expensive soft leather winter boots from Barney's, and a pair of women's Lanvin ballet flats that needed a small repair to the heel. I should have listened to the reviews here saying that they are way too expensive for the level of service they provide. I was charged $85 for two shoe shines and a minor heel repair. * They were super nice * The shoes were ready when they said they would be * The shoe shine on the men's dress shoes was just ok. It looks like they applied shoe shine and brushed it off. Maybe just wiped it off? * There was no buffing done whatsoever. * The finish was dull and the shoes had less shine than when I dropped them off. I've had better shoe shines in an airport. Far better. * The Lanvin shoe repair was just ok and the work was sloppy around the edge. Perhaps a $5 job. Definitely not $25 as I was charged. * The boot shine was again just ok. Really dull finish and the so called "repair" to the leather scuffs was not worth $45. I only tried this place because Escobar on third street was closed. Do yourself a favor - just go to Escobar and avoid this place. In fact, I dropped another pair of boots at Escobar after trying L'artisan. I got the boots from Escobar today and they are absolutely beautiful. Amazing shine at a great price - $15. read more

Hayk loves to work on my shoes.over the years, their prices are bit on the high side, IMHO, recently got sum wedge sandals w/zipper in back ankle area. my initial test, something in back on right rubbed my ankle, to the point it slightly blead.Hayk charged $20 , but told me to bring back if it wasn't right, N/C ended taking back 4x ! they are correct,now. He also has a selection of fake Louis Vuitton stuff.got a belt nearly 10 yrs ago. ppl. think it genuine. For all his good work over the years, gave him poster from pop-up exhibit few months ago. Haïk was fantastic and so was the work he and his sister did on my favorite Ferragamo shoulder bag. The zipper tape was ripped and needed to be entirely replaced. It was tricky work because of the bag design. When I took it in, Haïk told me that he was in the middle of a big custom shoe order that had to be delivered in a short time. He warned me that it would take 2 weeks to get my bag. I was leaving on a trip in a week, so I agreed to leave it with him. Two days later he called to say it was ready. He found extra time to work on it and when I went to pick it up, it was PERFECTLY repaired. The last time I had it repaired, it was done by the Ferragamo store in Amsterdam and their work wasn't as good as Haik's. I highly recommend him. The price was extremely fair at $65. Moreover, Haik is dependable, honest, a real craftsman. read more

I came here with two pairs of pretty abused vintage YSL shoes. Both needed the heels reconstructed. When I spoke to the woman at the front of the shop, she said sure that they were totally fixable and to come back in a week. When I came back a week later she brings out the shoes which were a complete horror to my eyes. Yes, the heels were certainly reconstructed-- so much so, that half was one color and the other half another-- part plastic, part leather, with a bumpy very messy paint job attempting to "mask" the ugliness... I looked at her and expressed my concern-- to which she said "Well, you shouldn't have waited this long to come to the cobbler..." As far as I'm concerned, its because of people like me-- those of us who abuse our shoes-- that she is in business. She was so disrespectful as she continued to essentially scold me for not having taken care of my shoes before... I tell her she has to make the heels look better--At first she says its not possible, and then a beat goes by and she tells me to wait five minutes, takes the shoes to the back and has the guys work on them. She brings them back out and they were a little better, though still really crudely put together. The reality is that the shoes looked WORSE reconstructed than in their original abused state. It was shocking that she thought the way they fixed them was acceptable... The shoes looked like a mismatch of cheap colors/textures... They ruined the original leather. I paid, took the shoes, and left. Needing to un-do what they had done, I discovered Roberto's Shoe Repair at 7763 Beverly Blvd, just down the street--who unlike the people at L'Artisan, is a true perfectionist and did a stunning job on them!!! AVOID THIS PLACE-- awful service with zero sense of artistry or craftsmanship. To them, mediocrity is perfectly acceptable. read more

I can't believe it has taken me so long to write this review. I brought an YSL bag with broken hardware in November. It took him about one month to fix it and he never called to tell me when it was finally done. The reason he gets 5 Stars is that he actually did the work. I've taken that bag to just about every other shoe repair person in LA, NY and Miami. No one wanted to fix it. They said the hardware was impossible to find. Fantastic. I am so, so, so hard on my high heels. I brought several shoes in to L'Artisan, but I wanna focus on a pair of leather boots whose heels looked like they had been gnawed on by wild animals (no, that's just how thoroughly I trashed them clomping around). I got them back looking fantastic, and it was very inexpensive. They also repaired the toe of the boots, which also had that gnawed on effect, and the repair is seamless. What's particularly funny is that the incredibly friendly and helpful woman who works the counter tends to give the feeling of, "oh, we'll do our best, but you never know..." and then returns your shoes to you looking flawless. They also do bags and upholstery and sell restored vintage shoes and bags as well. Where they get the shoes and bags to sell I don't know...delinquent customers? read more

For the life of me, I can't remember the owner's name, but that is probably because I was so astounded with his work/craftsmanship that I couldn't think of anything else! I have this pair of boots that I have worn for years - they needed to be resoled again and some loose stitching needed to be fixed. I like the worn in look, so I asked to not have them cleaned too much. And the owner even pointed out to me that the bottom of the heel was a little too worn and he suggested to reshape it a little so it would be more proper for walking. Boy did this place deliver - they even weatherproofed my boots! You can't see where they added onto the heel, you also can't see where they fixed the stitching (it all looks original!!) AND the price was awesome to boot! Did I mention the turnaround time is good and they have great hours, too? Oh, and the owner also makes custom leather shoes, too! I'll have to try that one day!! This place is my go-to place form now on - I won't trust my boots to anyone else!!! read more

I brought a few pairs of shoes to have new heels put on. I'm used to spending about $30 for heels. I never did get an estimate and when I picked up the shoes I was charged $150 for 2 pairs. My mouth dropped onto the counter. The work wasn't substandard but it wasn't anything special either. The shoes weren't even cleaned up. I guess I'll do that myself.
