We also needed to reupholster four dining table chair seats in black leather, and they also replaced the seat foam, making the 15+ year old chairs look and feel brand new. Freddy gave us a time estimate of one week, and the job was finished on time. Everything was perfectly done and looks flawless! He also gave us the remainder of the leather we purchased to cover the chair seats. We will be back for all of our reupholstery needs! Fredy did an A+ job reupholstering an antique chair that I'd bought on 1st dibs, which had been cheaply upholstered to flip. I'd found a remnant of a very expensive fabric on eBay at a fraction of its retail cost, and while it was barely enough for the job, Fredy made it work. Spectacular workmanship finished ahead of deadline! This CB2 chair was purchased on Craigslist with some stains that could not be removed. I loved the form and comfort of it so much that I decided to give it new life with custom fabric. This sofa was made by my grandfather (who lived in Venice and was a master upholster) as a wedding gift for my mom and dad. I have seen the couch revamped four different times, and this transformation is really perfect! I communicated to Freddy that I envisioned my piece to be made more comfortable, updated, change the stitching and styling, make it deeper, higher, change the legs, seat and back cushions, add a substantial custom ottoman, and do this piece in quality leather. Freddy added his touches, he made great suggestions, and he perfectly executed the concepts I had in mind. He was always responsive, informative, and he kept his own personal deadline of creating the piece in 2-weeks, which fulfilled. I am so very happy with this custom piece. This place was AMAZING! I had dining room chairs that had seen better days and were in desperate need of recovering. Years of stains and lumpy stuffing had made them hard to sit on. I could see our guests recoil in horror. Fredy Horta did his magic on them and turned them into something out of Architectural Digest. His work is high quality and it is no shock that interior designers go to him for all their upholstery needs. I risk letting the secret out of the bag but he was too good to not to sing him praises. Wow-- This place is so awful-- morally bankrupt-- 100,000% bait and switch! A few days ago I needed to get a sofa cushion re-upholstered-- the cushion was 6' x 27" x 6". I called and spoke with the owner and here's how this went: Me: "Hi there, I have a sofa cushion that measures 6' x 27" D x 6" T. I want a quote to get it reupholstered." Him: "Okay, so it's a cushion that's 6' x 27" D x 6"T?" Me: Yes. Him: "What kind of fabric do you like?" Me: "I have a cowhide, with fur I would like to use-- I also have the fabric for the underside of the cushion. All I need is the labor" Him: "Okay, okay, that'll cost $80. No more than $80." Me: "Fantastic, I'll be there in about an hour." So when I arrive to the shop, the owner approaches me and says, "Oh you must be Laney." Yes I replied, and shook his hand. His employee then helped me carry in the cushion and cowhide, I carried in the backing. He laid everything out, then asked the owner in Spanish (kind of crappy considering everybody there spoke perfectly fine English) How much for the labor. The owner said something back-- I didn't understand, then the guy said; "Oh, that's going to cost at least $250." What?! I said "Uhm... Didn't you say $80?" The owner said: "Oh, well you said the cushion was 58", not 6'." Me: "No, definitely not. I said 6'. You even repeated it back." Him: "Nope, you said 58." Me: Definitely not. Why would i say 58" when I know very well it's 6'?" Him: It's $250. Of course I said that what they were doing was wrong. The guy was just an ass and huffed off. I took my cushion, hide, and fabric and promptly left. Maybe it was my Louis Vuitton purse-- who knows-- but even if I said it was 58" (which I totally did not-- I 100% said 6') but lets just say I did say it was 58"... how in the heck does the price jump from $80 to $250 over a difference of 14"? Ridiculous-- buyer beware-- these people aren't upholsterers, they're fisherman... looking for their next bait and switch! read more

After getting over the initial devastation, I went on YouTube to see how to repair it and decided it was above my pay grade. I went on Yelp and saw great reviews for this upholstery place on Lincoln Blvd in Venice. It was a bonus that they opened at 8 so I could get it there before work. I carried this heavy pillow, drove over, and it was looked at within ten seconds of walking in. He told me sadly bc it's chenille it couldn't really be repaired, but he could use a needle and some glue to help it at least look better. 2 min later and he graciously said 'no charge', I walked out with my pillow looking almost good as new. A few years ago I wanted to get some chairs recovered and stumbled upon Venice Interiors. They did an amazing job recovering for dining chairs for me and I was really satisfied with the work. A few weeks ago I decided I wanted to get another chair recovered and after sending out messages on Yelp to get quotes back, Venice Interiors was once again the lowest priced option. I called the Brass tack since they are close to my house and they told me to send them some pictures and they could give me a quote. I mentioned that I wanted to update the style a bit and get rid of some of those dated upholstery nail things and have some piping put on. The owner or manager was a nice guy and he said it would probably take about 2 weeks. he didn't need a down payment or anything. He just gave me a receipt and I was on my way. I figured two weeks would give me enough time to stain and refinish the wood work that went with the piece. Well 4 days later I got a call and he said the chair was done. I came by and the chair looked mint! They did a way better job than I had imagined. They went above what they said they would do and replaced the worn batting and the chair looks and feels brand spanking new. I have been a customer for years. I went into the shop in Summer '21 with a design for 2 lounge mattresses. The proprietor took the details, warned me that price of foam had gone very high since the pandemic, and calculated a very high quote for me which I swallowed and accepted. He also told me that I would have to source the fabric myself as backorders were common. Several weeks later, fabric in hand, I returned to the store ready to commence the job. Without looking at his notes or previous quote he immediately told me that the price would be higher and they were busy so the job would take 6 - 8 weeks. I told him I was fine with the time but that he had already told me about high material costs when he calculated the cost the first time. I was waiting for him to look up the quote before we continued the price discussion but while 'searching' he uttered something about being very busy. I told him it seemed he didn't want my job. He pointed to the door and told me I am free to go elsewhere, which is what I did. I feel like he is a hothead who is gouging people. I guess he is doing it because he can. Shame. read more
