Run away. We hired Chris for a remodel. It was promised to complete in 2 months, took 5 months including the 6 weeks and $500 fine we had to pay for his bad guidance being in HOA jail. It would have taken longer if we hadn't done a lot of the work ourselves to get it done. His promises don't get followed through with, and he shows up at his leasure. He had, at the time only an electrical contractor license and we had to hire a separate electrician after the fact to fix his mess as he wouldn't respond. We just redid our backyard to make it look and feel like "Maui!" It took 13 months to finish the project, and in that time we worked with many different crews. Chris and his team stood out above the rest. We put in a new saltwater pool, gas tiki torches, and a beautiful synthetic palapa, done by Chris at Baja Palapas, Inc. We are OBSESSED with our new palapa! It is a work of art!! The whole process working with Baja Palapas, Inc. was wonderful. From the beginning, he and his wife Jennifer were very responsive. To start, Chris came to view the yard, and take measurements, then his wife got us the estimate back very timely. Chris is a General Contractor, which we felt gave us an extra peace of mind in working with him. The longest part of the palapa project was simply waiting for the material to arrive, as it was backordered for over 6+ months.This, however, wasn't a huge issue for us since we had other moving parts during yard construction. Once the materials arrived, it was probably the quickest project we've seen complete in the yard! I believe that it was done in less than 2.5 weeks, and it's a HUGE structure! He and his crew worked hard, kept the yard clean, and were extremely friendly and kind. When he wasn't there, which wasn't often, his crew was very professional and kind to my kids and I. At the beginning of the project, when his lead crew member showed us what the stain (that we had chosen) looked like, I did not like it. Instead of trying to persuade me to change my mind, which SO many other crews had done in our yard for other pieces of the project, he backed me up and said that it was 100% my choice and that they wanted me happy. I couldn't believe it! The palapa material is gorgeous. It has a 20-25 year lifespan, which is why we chose to go the synthetic route. We paid a little more to use synthetic material, but it made more sense to us, rather than replacing it in 10 years. We get compliment after compliment on the palapa! After the completion of the palapa, we wanted to add in lighting and fans, and hired Chris again! Then we wanted to add in turf, and we hired him to do that as well. We are so happy with everything that he did. We plan to work with him again for our next construction project. I forgot to mention that he is also such a down to earth, nice guy. He is very easy to talk to and showed interest in our young kids too while talking with my husband and I. Instead of acting like they were a burden, he was kind to each member of our family. At the end of the project, he even surprised us with a "paradise" decoration to hang in our newly completed palapa. We can't say enough about Chris and Baja Palapas, Inc. Called Chis and Jennifer made an appointment for him to see our yard, take measurements and choose our colors. They are professional and very knowledgeable. Since I live in a condo we have very strict HOA rules, Chris was on top of this and his plans for my patio cover flew right through the approval process which is no easy task! We recently bought a lot and decided to do a buildout, installing a counter, washer, dryer, etc. We were quoted a good price and were told it would be about a 2 month job that was to start in June 2017. The job started in July and was completed in January 2018... The guys were nice but there wasn't much dedication to the job. We are glad it's completed but not totally satisfied with the outcome. Their prices are good but be sure you know the job won't be done in a timely manner ( we had heard this also before we hired them) and some of it may need to be redone if you don't stay on top of it. Just a side note, there have been 3 leaks behind the washer and the sink, We just fixed them ourselves, easier that way. read more
