I am not a fan of mexican food but I shop here for my husband who prefers Mexican dining to any other kind of dining. He has tried almost all of the Mexican restaraunts around town here and most i Portland Oregon. I love the cheese and chicken quesideas and I get my husband his favorite Pork Burrito enchilada style with pinto beans. He says this is his new favorite place for Mexican food. We have been here 3 times and it has been absolutely delicious. The place is extremely clean and they are very courteous and pleasant to deal with. The food is always fresh and we couldn't ask for better customer service. We will be returning regularly. I highly recommend Baja Fresh. I noticed that they have tables outside with a water fountain? and lights. It looks like we will really enjoy coming here even more during the warmer months. read more

MOLDY FOOD AND EVEN WORSE SERVICE I have been coming here for years and have never had any issues. Recently though I feel like the quality has gone down and today I found mold in my food. I debated taking the time to inform the restaurant but quite disappointed with the response I receive when I did. - I was told to just eat the other food in my meal because it should be fine (is this how they handle food safety?) - I was asked why I didn't call sooner (it was my 3rd time calling) - Lidia the manager told there was no way there was mold in the cheese, "there's only a 1% chance this would happen" as she claims their food is "fresh" - when I returned to the restaurant with my moldy food Lidia looked at it in person, shrugged her shoulders and said "I still don't think it is" and claimed it's just cilantro that got mixed in. No apologies, no extra recourse for my time, inconvenience or the mold. Sadly Baja is going to be losing business if this is how they treat their customers.... read more

I visited on a Saturday afternoon at noon. It was pretty empty of customers inside. The staff was super super friendly and helpful. The music was really good. The staff was quick with my order while also preparing a catering order to be picked up. The food was really good. I always ask for the guac and sour cream in my quesadilla to be replaced with rice and beans and they were happy to do it. The quesadilla was big and had plenty of chicken. I will say this place wasn't terrible but it wasn't exactly good.. got the chicken bowl with black beans.. my suggestion to the restaurant is, when you use white meat chicken you may consider seasoning it. I don't know if they cook it there or if it comes in prepared in a bag but either way it was quite bland, the entire bowl was bland, don't be scared of salt, you don't need to go crazy with it but learn to use it.. had to drown the food in salsa which ultimately ends up being bland food swimming in sauce.. not impressed, won't go back, don't recommend it read more

I read that making it enchilada style (an extra $2.50) is the way to go, turning a simple finger food burrito into a full meal. For a few extra $$s, your burrito is covered in a warm enchilada sauce and melted cheese plus you get a nice side of chips, guacamole, and greens. Well worth it in my book. Most Baja Fresh locations have plenty of indoor dining. But I like this 160th and Mill Plain locale with a cute pond/fountain setting for even better social distance eating. My mother and I went here last week. Been here a handful of times and their food is always good. This time I had gotten a burrito with chicken and carnitas, and this was my first time not really liking what I ordered. It was ok, but the carnitas did not taste like carnitas, it tasted like beef that was cooked in a crockpot. Maybe they accidentally gave me the wrong meat? My mother loved her chicken quesadilla, she always ordered the same thing. Their chips and hot sauces are really good. I love Baja! This location is super close to my house and they are so quick at getting my pick up orders ready. I love the salsa and guacamole. I had just got done with a Doctor's appointment and wanted something that wasn't fried for lunch. I am so glad I made the choice to come here. Once I walked in the place was clean and an employee immediately acknowledged me. I ordered the Baja Chicken Bowl and you get free chips with it! The food came out quick and it was hot! It was amazing, the right amount of spice and the chips were delicious. They also have an awesome salsa bar! I got the pico de gallo and mango salsa. Hands down best mango salsa I have had! The chicken tostada salad is my favorite thing on the menu. Today, it did not disappoint. It's loaded with grilled chicken, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo. I ordered it to go and dished up 2 cups of salsa to take with me, one for my salad and one for the bag of chips. I wish I had ordered it there. When I got home and opened up my bag of chips, I discovered there were about 10 chips in the bag. That portion seemed pretty low considering I usually get more when dining in the restaurant. I'm usually A-Okay with Baja Fresh, however, the experience we had a couple of weeks ago was ridiculous. We walked in at around 3 pm, so obviously not many people were there. There was no one at the counter to take our order until finally an employee who had seemingly been on some sort of break ran over. My mom ordered the chicken nachos, I ordered two seafood tacos- one with crispy wahoo and one with shrimp. We paid (Baja Fresh is kind of expensive for not being a sit-down establishment, by the way) and got our salsas and found a seat. We waited. And waited. And waited. It seemed like forever and it didn't seem like the cook was doing anything but cleaning in the back. Not to mention, people who came into the restaurant AFTER us, had been ordering and receiving their food in a timely manner. My mom went up to the counter to see what was going on and there was no one in sight but the cook, who was wiping down counters. After waiting a few moments the cook came up and my mom handed him our receipt saying, 'Heeyyy we haven't gotten this yet' or something along those lines. He looked at the receipt as if he'd never seen words in his life, didn't say a word, and walked back into the kitchen. (Side note: My mom didn't tell me this until after we left, but she noticed that the cook had the rag he was cleaning the counter with in his gloved hand, proceeded to NOT change said glove, and went back to doing something with food. Ummm, gross. Wonderful. (Also, the other cook [who I have no idea where he was for half of this experience] was wearing a hideously filthy, oversized white shirt. There was something so off about it. It was unprofessional and unappetizing.) I think at that point, the person who rang us up saw the expression of confusion on my face (watching my mom from afar) and went over to see what was going on. Apparently mine had been ready that ENTIRE time. So over 20 minutes. My mom brought my tacos over in the meantime. They were FREEZING COLD; like they were actually put into a refrigerator before handing them to me. Not just *this was sitting on the counter for twenty minutes* cold. It's really concerning to me when seafood isn't properly heated/handled, but I ate it anyway because I was STARVING and didn't want to wait. As for the nachos, the person said they were just "waiting for the cheese to melt". Wellll- 5 minutes go by and they bring us the nachos. The cheese was not melted. Like, at all. She said their oven broke. Or something? But you'd think they'd just say "Hey I'm so sorry- it seems like our oven is broken, can we make you anything else like a quesadilla on the house? We'll refund you for these pathetic nachos." Basically, they should've offered to make something else that didn't require an oven. They just flopped down this un-melted nacho pile and said sorry. SO STRANGE! It took almost 30 minutes for nachos. You'd think you'd realize that the oven wasn't working before that? Or maybe they knew that it wasn't working and just didn't care? Who knows? We left completely dumbfounded. We'll be giving Baja Fresh an extended break after this, unfortunately. read more

I saved the chicken taquitos for next day's lunch, it was still good and the taquitos where still crispy. The nachos and the shrimp bowl was good. Hands down this is the worst Baja fresh I have ever been to. My husband and I went in to share some nachos and it barely had any cheese, what it did have it wasn't melted, there were so few toppings we would take a single piece of chicken and break it apart for a minuscule amount to spread it over 10 chips. My husband talked to the manager her only response was I'll keep an eye out on that. DO NOT go to this restaurant! And the manager saw some tea leaking. We love Baja, but the service we received today was flat out disrespectful and uncalled for. Yesterday we purchased an order including fish tacos, a custom tostada, two chicken tortilla soups, and chips with queso. Baja is a treat for us because we live 40ish minutes away. The food is always so fresh, and so delicious. We trekked home before digging into the bag where we found no fish tacos and found that the tostada meal was severely incorrect. We called the store and explained the situation to a very understanding woman who offered to have us come back and remake the two meals they make mistakes on. We declined because of the duration of the drive there and back. She told us that if we came back the following day she'd remake our entire order for the inconvenience. We drove all the way back today to be accused of lying by the manager who told us that his wife only told us she would remake the fish tacos that they forgot. He ended up giving us the two meals they messed up as compensation but still make us pay for the rest of the order even though she promised us they'd remake the entire thing for us. He then forgot to give us our drink and did not put cheese on the tostada meal. We're very disappointed with the customer service we received and we're saddened to have had one of our favorite restaurants treat us with such disregard. read more

I was searching Vancouver for a good take out fish taco. So far Baja Fresh is my pick. The fish is a grilled piece of firm white fish (I'm not sure what kind of fish it is), and it has great flavor! The fish taco comes with cabbage which I prefer on a fish taco, and it's a nice size. You can't beat Baja Fresh's salsa bar! The staff at this location are very friendly, and accommodating. This particular location is very clean, and there's a large outdoor seating area with a lovely fountain. I should also mention that my coworkers and I have had them deliver meals to us. Their customer service is fantastic. They have never let us down, they have been able to deliver large orders under pretty limited time restrictions. This place used to be fresh about a year or so ago. Recently everything has really gone downhill. The jalapeños are no longer fresh, instead they are the pickled ones from the can. The guacamole is brown and you can smell the restrooms from the soda station. To top it off the food is sloppy now. Truly a disgusting experience. read more

For the most part it was fresh and as ordered except, the portions were in 10s ( to feed 10) most of the portions were good except the cheese, which was a SMALL tray of cheese we had to scramble to buy more as was for tacos , for us cheese is an intrical part of the taco. The food here is great. I usually get the baja bowl, which is a lot of food for $8. You can sign up for online coupons, so my wife and I eat there for around $12 when we go. The interior looks... well used. But it's still clean. The staff is always friendly and the food is always cooked fresh. The salsa bar is nice, great variety of flavors and temperatures. There is something unsightly about pico de gallo all over the ice in the bar though, creeps me out. For the price, tasty food! read more

I like to come here when I want fish tacos. They have a great crispy Wahoo Fish Taco and they also have great quesadillas. Normally I prefer eating at Chipotle but they don't offer either of those options on the menu. Anyway, this location is clean and the people running it have owned it for as long as I have lived in Vancouver. The people are always friendly that work there. Went there last night with husband for a quick to go meal. Husband got the steak quesadilla and a side of rice. I got the crispy fish tacos (try them, they come wrapped in a corn tortilla with cabbage, pico, and spicy cream sauce) and a side of smoky queso with chips. The queso is just okay. My only complaint is that it tends to solidify as it comes to room temp. Kinda gross but what can you expect from canned queso? While we waited they offered us free chips. They are also generous with the chips they sent with us to eat the queso with. I tend to stay away from their salsa bar. Never have had a bag experience here. Keep up the great work! read more

I love Baja Fresh and have for a good long time. Specifically I love the one near Target on Millplain. The restaurant is ALWAYS clean. The food is consistently delicious! This is my go to dinner date with my younger daughter. I love the fresh chips and salsa bar. My kids stick with the mild and I can have super spicy! I love their tortilla soup, and my kids love the nachos (not just chips and cheese, there's meat, beans, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, etc). I like to try different things and I enjoy everything I've tried there. The staff make it a very family friendly place. Yum! If we're comparing "fast" Mexican food, Tacobells food has more flavor than this place (and it's cheaper). One step up from that would probably be muchas gracias.
