Great spot in the center of town- nice decor and light inside. My family of 5 adults and 3 kids (2, 4, 6) went here for brunch on Easter afternoon, and had a good experience. We considered something a little bigger/nicer for Easter brunch, but decided that with a toddler fighting naptime, a faster option made more sense. We chose poorly. While the food was good, the service was very slow. We were there over an hour before getting our entrees (3 burgers, a chicken club, and lobster eggs Benedict). The waiter was very nice, genuine, and personable, but seemingly strapped for time. The bigger issue seems to be good prep time. The flannel/jeans look for the waitstaff was clever in light of the broader "farm" theme, but just made them seem underdressed (for someone serving $27 lobster eggs Benedict). The food was fine- no one disliked it, but no one raved about anything either. I looked forward to the 50/50 burger (beef, pork butt), but it was a bit dry and tasteless. I had been here many years ago but everything has changed. Had a fantastic dinner and the duck in particular was incredible. The menu is really inventive and the staff was very helpful in navigating it. This restaurant has 5 star food in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. It is a bit cramped and has no physical bar or waiting area if your table isn't ready. I love Baileys. The food is always good and the main dining room is little and quaint. Their soups are always great. Highly recommend the squash soup when they have it. My favorite dish I have had there were the scallops. I have not seen them on the menu lately, but I highly recommend them when you find them. I had the NY strip last time we were there. Cooked perfectly and just the right amount of spices. They also have a great lunch menu. The perfect amount of food for lunch. My favorite part of Baileys is the wonderful staff. We went with two other couples. The food, drinks and dessert were amazing. BUT you need to know one thing. Each couple gave separate credit cards to the server for the bill to be split 3 ways. On OUR credit card was our third and ANOTHER charge for the 4 other dinners. It was a "hold" according to there restaurant in case the other 2 credit cards didn't clear. They explained the "first card they use is the card they put all the charges on". It was on our card as "pending" for 4 days. No one explained this would be done. Not nice. read more

Bailey's Backyard catered my daughter's bridal shower in the fall and did a beautiful job for a fair price. They helped me plan a menu with some of my daughter's favorites and had some really creative suggestions, which all turned out to be delicious. They provided a server to help out who was very attentive and did a great job cleaning up afterwards. I would use them again. read more

We went on a busy Friday night with reservations and were seating immediately. We were there for hours and never once felt rushed. The waiter was very tentative and service was amazing. We had the octopus, rabbit ravioli, and split the 50/50 burger for appetizers. Everything was amazing. For entrees we had the artic char (highly highly recommend), Duck, and grilled ribeye. All were cooked perfectly. For dessert we had the strawberry shortcake, chocolate ganache dessert, and banana bread pudding. The banana bread pudding was my favorite and the chocolate one was also a hit. I could've done without the strawberry shortcake, but with every other aspect of the meals and night being perfect, it didn't really matter. Wish I took pictures of the meals because everything was plated so pretty. It's pricy but you get what you pay for and I'm ok with that!! Low key.... check. relaxed atmosphere....check. Ridiculous food... .check. good beer, and wine.... Check. This place was really a great find for us. We started with the ramen and the chile rellano apps. The pepper had a very complex goat cheese base filling, but what made it a home run was the lingonberry (think blueberry) compote. Crazy mix of rich and cheesy, salty, sweet and spicy from the poblano. While the chile was great, the ramen was stunning. Crazy. Out of this world. Right there with Olio's octopus (when they don't mess with it and just add a light fry to the grill char...) and few, very few, other stellar dishes in our ever expanding CT restaurant tour. The best ramen I've ever had, (and we spent a week in Vancouver last summer and had ridiculous ramen like 3 times). Bailey's chef, who we got to speak with for a while, apparently has Japanese step parents from whom he has apparently absorbed some otherworldly Asian fusion skill. As an app, the bowl is WAY too big for a single person as an app. It was too big for both of us witht he chile too. Go there, get it as an app, eat it, the order it for dinner too,.. then get a doggie bag portion... it's crazy good. For dinner Jen got the rabbit and I got the monk fish, in part because I love monk fish, and in part because I was so damn stuffed by this point by the rich ramen and cheese stuffed chilies. My monk fish was pretty good, but not a home run. I can, and have, done as well or better with it. But Jen's rabbit was great. Not sure either of us have a rabbit frame of reference, but I know how to make a great braised meat dish, and this was one. Perfectly braised texture and they put a little grill char on it at the end to add a great subtle smokey background. Flavors were perfect early fall in the dish. Loved it... would get it again definitely. Apparently they change the menu 9 times a year... that's both great and crazy. This was our first time there so we have no idea if they can keep up this quality over 9 changes a year. I worry because apparently they are opening a Stamford location down near the Hyatt on the Greenwich line. It will be a much bigger place. The chef says he's managed wide spread locations for major restaurant as executive chef, but I really seriously doubt its possible to be on top of things to the extent that this level of quality requires with two places, basically 45 min apart on a good day, with one place being much bigger than your flagship.... if they can pull it off, I hope our fav Olio can keep up. Certainly not on the expansion front (no, please), but maybe on the faster menu turn over standpoint. We got a cheese cake dessert too that was very good.... but, this place is about savory. Go now, before it might start slipping as the extremely talented chef over extends himself. read more

Ever since Bailey's has transformed into their new "farm-to-table" style dining, I have tried to come back and try as many dishes as I can. Today was my first time in for lunch and I was very pleasantly surprised. They recently added a new burger to the menu, which is exactly what I was in the mood for. "The Big Mick" is a decadent creation consisting of two grass fed beef 4 oz fresh patties from Burlington, Connecticut. It is topped off with sliced house-made pickles, shaved lettuce and red onion. The bun is a toasted soft roll which both melts in your mouth, but maintains its structure preventing the burger from falling apart. I highly recommend this meal to any fellow burger-lovers in the area. read more

My family has always been a huge fan of Bailey's Backyard, and now with their new Farm-to-Table model, they are, hands down, the best restaurant in Ridgefield! The cozy and romantic atmosphere lends itself to a wonderful date night spot, yet during the day time, the covered patio area is filled with a generous amount of sunshine. My husband and I had a phenomenal meal here last night. The soda bread with the warm brown sugar butter was an excellent way to start while we waited for our charred octopus appetizer. The octopus was served on a bed of babaganoush with olives, falafel and Greek yogurt. Yum! For entrees, I ordered a crabmeat stuffed sole that was served with a sweet potato purée and brussels sprouts. My husband had the Moroccan vegetable tangine, vegan (although he is not), and it was very flavorful and filling. We realized five minutes into our entrees that we hadn't spoken since they were served. We typically don't order desert, especially fruit, but after being wowed by the appetizer and entrees we decided to try the red wine poached pear with vanilla ice cream, chocolate ganache, and toasted pistachios. Unbelievable is putting it mildly. Aside from the tasty food, the service was attentive and well-paced. We will be back. read more

Unfortunately the ingredients in our entrees were not particularly good quality especially given the price point and tasted as if everything had been prepared prior to service and served like a banquet. The plating was beautiful with excellent presentation, given that the place is so small perhaps the chef doesn't have a proper kitchen or staff to work with. We thoroughly enjoyed our medal at Bailey's. We were taking in a show at the Ridgfield Playhouse nearby and needed a place to dine before the show. Yelps reviewers were dead on. Tasty dishes abound. The chicken under a brick was flavorful and juicy with a nicely crisped skin. It was a nice touch giving me extra of the yummy gravy to pour over the bed if creamy grits. The skate was crispy and flaky and tasty as well . We finished with the fresh made donuts for desert. Delightfully evil! One order is more than enough to share. If it weren't for the appetizers, this would be only 2 stars. The pear arugula salad and the apple walnut salad were pretty good. The mushroom soup was ok. Make a meal of appetizers and you might be OK. But the entrees are disappointing. Last Thursday, the scallops were a skimpy portion of 3 scallops and a lump of bland risotto. The salmon came overdone, and whatever was supposed to be maybe caramelized on the bottom had gone straight to burnt, crunchy, ashy, not good eats. And, worse, the salmon tasted fishy, and the sides of asparagus (fine) and mashed potatoes didn't redeem it. There are better choices in Ridgefield for the money. I think they assume everyone will come in with one of the half-off coupons they offer and price accordingly, so if you don't have the coupon, you overpay! read more

The food was mediocre and overpriced, even excellent service cannot improve that, but to be treated so poorly and then have the manager take the same attitude - it will never be a restaurant I revisit. We've been going to Bailey's once every few months for the past several years. I agree with most of what the previous reviewer says except the rating; 3 stars is a little harsh - this place is a solid 4, so hopefully I'll help average it out! And yes, the menu resembles other American bistros, much as we noticed in Paris that French bistro menus are all virtually identical - it's all in the delivery. We have always found the food at Bailey's to be very well prepared and expertly presented, consistently high in quality, with great service all at a decent (for Ridgefield) price. My personal fav is the trout, and they once had a sea bass special that was hands-down the best I've ever tasted. There are many over-rated, over-priced, over-done restaurants in Ridgefield, along with a few that should have closed (or been forced to) years ago. Fortunately there's Bailey's! read more

I like to think I'm a reasonable person, but this was one of the rudest experiences I've had at a restaurant in some time. This was our first visit to this restaurant and we initially had high expectations.The waitress asked my mother and my friend as we scanned the outside seating area for a table, "Is there something you need, ladies?" Not a genuine welcome or smile, but instead a hostile back and forth, as if we were not welcome. That attitude remained for the rest of our evening, and the attempt I made to alleviate the tension and start conversation with her instead was curtly ended. No other guests received that sort of unwelcome or consistently rude treatment from this waitress for the remainder of the evening. When my mother called later to retell her experience and perhaps receive an apology, the manager was equally rude, hostile, and took no responsibility for the actions that took place.The nicest person we talked to all evening was the gentleman responsible for refilling our water! It was the worst experience I've had in a restaurant in a long time, and let me tell you I DO NOT take the time to write these sorts of things, and VERY little gets under my skin. But after being in the hospitality business myself for years, I know that the way the staff of a "high end" restaraunt treats you tells you more about the restaurant than the food does. read more

Fantastic surprise today! My wife and I had the chef tasting menu. Awesome! Great service. Attentive, knowledgeable and explained every course with the pairing of wine.
