Very abundant portions and a vast menu but hit or miss on flavor depending on the item. Ordering appeared to be simple but was actually a total debacle. They have a very impressive on line menu in which to order from. Supposedly you can order before they are opened and choose a pickup time. Notice I said supposedly. This is where things began to fall apart. I placed my order at 7:40 AM for a 6:00 PM pickup and immediately received a confirmation Email. I was given instructions not to come to the restaurant to pick up my order until I received an email telling me to. Seemed pretty easy at first glance. We drove to the restaurant and parked a few doors down arriving around 5:50. At 6:01 I received an email from them. I foolishly assumed this was my pickup email. Wrong, this was another acknowledgment. I had already received an acknowledgment immediately after placing my order, why did I need another 10 hours later? At the restaurant door it was chaos. People were waiting, most with masks but some without. Grub hub drivers were waiting and upset with their wait times. Employees were bringing out orders in various stages of mask wearing. Some without, some with and some wearing it over their chins. Looking through the window the same could be seen by those working inside. I would think those working side by side should be wearing them. Some orders were coming out wrong and some had missing items. When mine came out at 6:40 I was missing a side that I had to wait another 10 minutes for. This was cornbread, an item that requires no heating up. All that was needed was to hand it to me. We dropped a steak and chicken skillet at my son's house. He was underwhelmed by it. It looked plentiful but he found the steak and chicken to be of poor quality and taste. My wife had a lobster and shrimp platter with old bay seasoning. Very plentiful and other than the shrimp being quite salty, she said it tasted good. I chose the crab, shrimp and sausage platter. It was good for the most part but the crab was lacking in flavor. As for quantity it could have easily fed 2 people. The rice that came with it could easily feed 4 or more. I added lobster bisque and cornbread. The lobster bisque was very thick and no more than average at best for flavor. The corn bread was good. To sum it up, poor organization with ordering, safety doesn't seem important to them, very generous portions, some items good, some not and some ok. Won't be returning. read more

Not sure how to review. The food was good, and large menu. But we thought this was a sit down restaurant. We had to fight for street side parking, there are all these other customers just standing around out on the corner outside, felt very unsafe. Felt like a drive by could happen at any moment. Woman curtly took our order, demanded payment on the spot then told us to wait 20 min. All manor of delivery people coming and going. I had steak & chicken strips, which wound up as a huge plate of rice, potatoes, corn, and what you might put in a cheesesteak, less the cheese. For $24. And we had to ASK for plastic forks, went back, and the server seemed quite annoyed. Guess she eats rice another way. Wife had fish, said haddock was just ok, but large portion. Today I had a taste for some fish and I hadn't visited this place for years, I always felt like I smelled like a walking fish when I walked out. Anywho, I ordered online because it took me a while to figure out what I wanted (not knowing you save 10% by doing so). I ordered the fish (perch)and shrimp dinner. The food looks amazing and it was cooked perfectly, however it could use some seasoning. I know each person prefers diff seasoning but I believe this is straight fish and batter. Literally the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. The lady who brought my food out was extremely rude, I'm not sure why she is even working with the public. I placed my order online and then immediately called to find out what time it would be done. She said check your email. The email I received said 6pm. I showed up at 6pm only to find that my $50 worth of food had been sitting for nearly 30 minutes before I arrived. I was frustrated already. While standing in front of her I opened the boxes and touched the items to feel how cold they were so I could decide whether or not I just wanted a refund. She said "well if you're going to touch everything then you're just going to take it". I will never return. read more

I ordered the frog legs with onion rings, the yellow pike (in case I didn't like the frog legs, as I have never had them before), and a side of a crab cake. My boyfriend ordered coleslaw, 2 cornbread muffins, the fish and shrimp combo and extra tartar sauce. It delivered pretty quickly, but the quality didn't really match my expectations for the price. My order cost roughly $30 and while there was a lot of food, only the crab cake was really edible. I think it's in the batter and the tartar sauce. Either they put some extra ingredient in it or both went bad/ I want to be charitable, so I think it's some extra ingredient, but either way it completely ruined the flavor of anything that was battered at all. The fish, the frog legs, and onion rings all had this flavor and I literally can't describe in any other way than "the flavor of old garbage smell." My boyfriend didn't really notice it, but for me it was awful, I had maybe 1 onion ring, one bite of a frog leg and one bite of fish with batter and one without and none of it was palatable. As with all their fish, it's tastes fresh from the sea, is battered perfectly, lightly, and their fresh and home made tartar sauce is scrum-dilly-isious. ;-) The fried shrimp pairs perfectly with the cocktail sauce. I like seafood, but only fresh seafood because my palate can definitely taste fishy nasty old seafood. This place has fresh seafood, for sure. I had the super haddock sandwich, which was only $5.49. This thing was so huge that I had to flip the sandwich over and pry it out of the container. It had a nice, meaty piece of fried haddock (not greasy!!!), coleslaw (which I usually don't like but it was good), tartar sauce and fries all between a bun. Who knew this would be good? But it was DAMN good. We also had the super combo haddock dinner, which had a huge nice piece of haddock, a good amount of fries, coleslaw, tartar sauce, hush puppies, 4 shrimp and 3 chicken fingers for $10.99. Wait, what? Since when was food that cheap? When was seafood that cheap? Everything was delicious! Well maybe except for the hushpuppies cause I don't really know what that is and didn't enjoy it too much. Anyway, that dinner had so much food that we couldn't finish it. Great place for seafood takeout! I'm trying to eat healthy, and a lot of the items are fried, so if you like fried fish/seafood, they do it right. If you're trying to avoid fried and are looking for baked seafood, it's a much smaller selection, it's decent, but not my favorite. I really like the bisque, and the shrimp boil. So I had the fish special sandwich yesterday and now it's all I can do to keep from thinking of different ways to get it - all the different fish options, baked, or Cajun seasoning. Seriously it may become an addiction. The sandwich is sublime. The fish is fried fresh, fast, and to perfection. It goes on a large soft bun with coleslaw, tartar sauce and French fries (yes, fries). Cheese is an option, which I didn't choose in this occasion. It was a very filling meal. Totally satisfying, and at $7 and change, a bargain. There's a fresh fish section as well. The bulletproof bank-type glass by the registers is a little scary. It is in don't-walk-around-at-night area. They offer a wide variety of fish, that are not only fried, but can be baked, or take it to go so you can cook the food. Let me premise my review with the fact that I grew up in Seattle catching my own clams, mussels, dungeness crab, fish, squid, etc. which has left me a constant craving for seafood. Since moving to Buffalo 7+ years ago I have been on a diligent search for good seafood restaurants. Coming across an article on yahoo and cross referencing reviews on yelp I decided to give Bailey Seafood a try. After reading reviews about wait time I ordered online (got my 15% off first order), I picked up about 30 minutes later. I walked in and it was clean, but the counters were really high and I was just a bit disoriented. But then I saw signs and I walked over to the "order" area since there were folks there and was able to pick up my order and pay with credit. For a little less then $7.50, I got a huge yummy super sandwich with the works (fries, coleslaw and tarter sauce), and a 16 oz clam chowder! I was full after eating the sammy, but had to try to the clam chowder. It was super thick (i put the plastic spoon in the middle and it stayed upright) and clammy with tons of potato... the only thing I wished it had was some celery and bacon. Would I go back? YES! I can't wait to try the soft shelled crab, hand breaded okra, and the homemade sweet potato pie! I urge you to get out of the suburbs (realizing that you will need to dismiss the voice in your head that is filled with all the crazy crap your parents told you about the city) and get some great fried seafood for a price that is worth the drive. read more

EXCELLENT fried haddock sammy! The ease of use of ordering online from here is REALLY great. You check off exactly what you want, confirm your order and pick up time, and they send you a confirmation email. EASY. I wish all take-out joints had this method in place. I ordered the fried haddock super sandwich combo with New England Clam Chowder ($7.99!) and a giant chocolate chip cookie ($1.49) on the side... Let's deconstruct, shall we? The sandwich: No wonder it has really great reviews on here! First off, it's served on a Costanzo's roll- which in my opinion are the BEST rolls around. And the fact that they're locally made is that much better. You can't get these rolls anywhere else in the country, so they are solid GOLD! The fish was dynamite! A nicely portioned piece of haddock, breaded and fried. Now, I usually prefer beer-battered and like any beer-battered fish a lot more than breaded, but for being breaded, that fish was excellent! I ordered just ketchup and tartar on the side. Usually their super sammy comes with coleslaw and fries on it- I didn't want either. BUT- they put fries on my sammich. Shoot! Luckily they're easy to pick off. Not like everything being slathered with mayo when you said no mayo and hate mayo (I don't understand mayo haters- or Miracle Whip haters- I love both!). Anywho, the combo of the crunchy coated, firm fish and soft, chewy Costanzo's roll was beautiful. I slathered mine in ketchup and tartar (little packets, not homemade- boo) because that's how I roll. I've now visited Bailey Seafood a few times and have come away pretty happy each time. One of the best things about the place is simply the amazing range of seafood available fresh or cooked. How many other places are there where you can order half a dozen different types of fried fish instead of simply, say, haddock or something? The service is always efficient, and even if you have to end up waiting a little bit for food (which is often due simply to popularity!), it's definitely worth it.
