Everything that's for sale always looks fresh, clean and appetizing. Besides the fresh and frozen seafood they offer all kinds of jarred goods, spices and handy kitchen tools. I've only ever shopped on their app, but after my recent experience I'll try to just walk in and see what's available. This is quite risky if you already have dinner plans, plus using their app is very easy and convenient. Unfortunately, after my last experience, I prefer to put my finger on what I want to make sure I get exactly the cut of fish I'm looking for. It didn't seem like a big deal, because the fish was still fresh and delicious, but it slightly changed my approach to its preparation. Hayes is a casual seafood restaurant where you order at the counter and they deliver it to you. That made me nervous with such a large table. There is ample parking on both sides of the restaurant. What a surprise that when we started to arrive, they said that due to our size, they would provide table service! Excellent! Our waitress was right on it and offered to split the bill how we wanted it. The staff was quick to get a highchair and ask if we needed anything special for the 2 kids.We ordered some drinks (wine and beer only) and soft drinks. The menu is fairly typical with all the favorites served fried, broiled, Cajun or blackened. The specials were interesting including a walnut crusted snapper and a cod piccata and many others. They also have chicken fingers and hot dogs for the less adventurous. I chose a Cajun broiled haddock with shrimp. The shrimp (5) were large and perfectly cooked with the fish, delicious! My choice of fries and slaw were standard but, I could have had baby B potatoes and fresh green beans. We ordered many different things and everyone loved them. The calamari was perfect and the lobster tail was big and juicy. The piccata looked great as did the crab cakes. I was impressed by the flow and ease the staff handled our big boisterous table with everyone running out the meals so no one waited. Hayes may be a little pricey but, I'm happy to pay the price for quality seafood. There's a seafood counter to select fresh product as well and I couldn't resist getting a piece of their house smoked salmon for later. It's my past experience to know it's the best. Thanks Hayes for one of the best restaurant experiences in a while.
