My wife & I traveled there hoping to get some Halo-Halo, but unfortunately they were closed due to the pandemic. My wife (a Filipina) was able to get the attention of the owner, also a Filipina, and the spoke a bit. They are planning to re-open soon & I wish them success. Traveling with my wife to Europe, after spending few days in Paris and then Brussels we were ready for some comfort food. We turned to Yelp for some help trying to see if there's any Filipino food in the area. We came across Bahay Kubo, after a long day trip to Brugge dinner at Bahay Kubo would capped our day. The place is very cute, you see a Philippine flag as you walked in. Noticed that more than half of the patrons were non-Filipinos. I always like to see non-Filipinos at a Filipino restaurant especially if they're not with other Filipinos. It's a sign that Filipino food is going mainstream. We were met by the owner Thelma, she was very nice that she even let us charge our phones since we've been out all day and both our phones are what most Filipinos call it "lobat". We ordered Lumpia which was served with atchara salad and sweet sauce , it was nice and crispy. For our meal we decided on Pork Belly Sinigang, it was excellent with plenty of vegetable and the sour soup with a little kick of spice hit the spot. We also had Sisig, this Sisig was Sizzling!!! Everything was excellent so we decided to end the evening with halo halo and I'm telling you, it did not disappoint with ice cream and flan on top which I think the owner said they used Luneta Ice Cream, It was a nice ending to a beautiful day in Brugge and a great dinner at Bahay Kubo. So Kababayan (fellow Filipino) and non- Filipinos in the area. Go check them out! We will definitely go back the next time we're in this side of the world. This has been a discovery. We went to this restaurant in the evening during the week. We were greeted by the owner who explained to us the menu and different ingredients used in each dish. The service was extremely polite. The food was refreshingly good and different from other South-east Asian restaurants we have tried in Brussels. Needless to say this is the only Filipino restaurant in Brussels. We tried the "crispy pata" (deep fried pig trotters or knuckles served with a soy-vinegar dip), "lechon kawali" (crispy fried porc belly with "sarsa ni mang tomas", a kinf of gravy sauce) and the prawn rice topping. Every single bite was delicious. To finish we shared a "leche flan" (Filipino style milk and eggs dessert) we was offered by the owner for our first visit to the restaurant. This is my favorite place in Brussels! I'm used to being spoiled by food in SoCal, where one can get awesome food from anywhere. I've found food in Brussels to be a bit bland, unless you're maybe on an EU expense account and eating at Michelin rated restaurants. This is the only Filipino place in town and it is incredible!!!! It's a small business were you can find the owner every day along with her beyond courteous staff (another thing you don't encounter in Brussels every day) Every dish I've gotten is presented with such attention to detail that sometimes I feel guilty digging in. But after the first bite I quickly get over it and devour it. The more simple dishes I find the tastiest. Their chef vegetables are pretty similar to the special rice topping. Both are really good. The noodle dishes are ok. The thing I wasn't into that I tried was sigsig but maybe that's a cultural thing. Prices have gone up compared to when it first opened but the food is still great. Can't figure out why the chef is totally cool with making certain items in the evening (awesome guy!) while the owner prefers to say they're out of x or y ingredient . If some items are only available during the day I think it should be clarified on the menu. read more

i am Filipino and picky on the pinoy taste, but kudos and hats-off to this restaurant for their lovely lechon kawali, adobo and pansit canton! For the adventurous you may want to try sisig and tokwa't baboy but since this dish if a favorite of mine, theirs still have a lot of room for improvement! In a nutshell, the restaurant is affordable and fabulous! read more
