EVENT: we came to Brussels for tomorrowland... didn't end up going on Sunday... we were tried... and ready to go home after our 3 week vacation around Europe! We needed some comfort Asian food! FOOD: (1) Tom Yum: lots of veggies, love the corn! (2) Laab: lots of flavors and lettuce wraps (3) Pad See Ew: wouldn't recommend - taste like soy sauce. Love sitting outdoors - summer's night! Fast service and quick! **OVERALL: everything excellent!

Came here as party of 5 and we sat in the back. I shared the "Fanny" tasting menu with another diner. The other choices were vegetarian red curry, green shrimp curry, and fried rice with vegetables. For drinks we got ginger tea, 1 liter water and half-liter house white wine. The wine was decent but hated the ginger tea - it was super mild and tasted like dishwater. So for the review of the Fanny tasting menu: the soup came super quick, great sweet -sour taste that was marred by how tough the chicken was. My co-diner found it too spicy for her taste. Review for the 4 entrees: 1) chicken with peanut butter - this was nice but the peanut butter could have been a bit more thicker. 2) fish cakes - spongy garden variety, not impressed 3) shrimp basket - excellent and best of the lot, with peas and crispy well done savoury pastry 4) spring rolls - again, garden variety, indistinguishable from any other restaurant Review for the 5 main dishes 1) Chicken with Thai Basil - meh, too salty, chicken tasted bleached 2) Duck with 5 flavours- was really looking forward to this, but the star anise flavour was super overwhelming. Duck was tender but that flavour of star anise was just too much 3) Shrimp w/3 flavours - all I could taste was uncooked raw tomato paste. Also too salty. 4) Fried Vegetables - the best of the lot. Only dish I would consider ordering if had to go back. 5) Beef with coconut and curry - liked the robust curry coconut flavour of the sauce which I did try. I don't eat beef but my dining companion did and said her meat was super tender, almost Korean cut. Overall verdict? I would not go eat here again, it wasn't overall great dining experience. The food was garden variety - nothing spectacular or really with robust Vietnamese or Thai flavours.

    - Price/Quality: 17,90 euros for a delicious three course menu (soup/starter/main dish) - Health: Asian food in general seems healthier than our Western eating habits despite lots of white rice and deep-fried snacks - Pleasure: The soup was rich in taste but hot and spicy! The chicken curries are wonderful. - Quantity: Enough - Variety: Quite a lot of vegetables in the soup, next to the snacks and with the chicken. If you take a menu, you'll get a variety of Asian flavors.

Great decor but a small place. The lab khai is pretty good. Well seasoned and had a few chopped red hot peppers for more flavor. The Penang chicken was good, but maybe needed a bit more chicken. Also, Penang sauce was thicker and more peanutty. The presentation was great.

Delicious food, not the thai food I usually eat in new jersey, but still good. Very prompt service, we had been seated for 15 minutes and had ordered and the food was out before we even knew it. beautiful decor and not too expensive.

I had the shrimp fried rice and it was great. I went around 3-4pm so the place was empty and the service was great. The food did come out very quickly suggesting it was just heated up but still so good. It's also a nice place to just sit and relax and look at the decorations which are absolutely beautiful.

Right in the middle of the nightlife- this Thai spot was soooo delicious. Had the tilapia with chili sauce and shrimp pad Thai. We sat outside and it was so lively we had a drink nearby at an Irish pub. So far the service was good here but it can be because i am thai as well. High recommend this Thai restaurant if you want to be in the center of everything.

Not that I'm harsh but it wasn't quite Thai.. The herbaceous quality of the dish was there but it was lacking that Thai taste, especially when they don't even speak the language. The Larb was immensely bland with lacking that umami taste that fish sauce brings. The Chicken satay must have been marinated in salt and some other spices that it's overwhelmingly salty but no true flavour of the satay marinate. The Tom Ka Kai Soup lacks the sourness of lime. The lemongrass and kafir lime leaves were present but with out the lime, it's just another creamy soup. The chefs truly does not understand the importance of acid in Thai cooking especially in soups and the salad dishes like Larb. Then.. The Kai Krapow was just salty and bland. The presence of correct vegetables used but how can you appreciate the ingredients when the lack of flavours is a distraction. Honestly, I feel that the people of Brussels/the diners there deserve a better Thai experience and a better Thai restaurant. The prices are pretty steep for dishes that weren't even truly Thai and portions that leaves you bewildered. Truly confirms my theory of having Thai food in some cities. How can you cook Thai when you're not Thai? I get that you're running a business but don't call it "authentic" when it's only inspired to be Thai. If you follow me on Yelp, you know I rate how good a Thai restaurant is based on 3 dishes. Larb, Pad Kra Pow and Green Curry. Brussels have a few authentic Thai restaurants but tonight, I didn't find it. Yes, every city's culture influences and inspire some of the unique taste of Thai food. I have to say, of all the places that I've traveled, London, Sydney, Melbourne and Fairbanks, AK have the best Thai food outside of L.A. and Bangkok.

Oh, but Thai Talks? Thai Talks did me so right. I liked the look of this little spot right away. An older Thai lady, in a tiny kitchen facing the street; four tables at max squeezed in the rest of the small space. I got the green papaya salad, a curry and some noodles. The standout was, without a doubt, the bright and piquant green papaya salad. I would've kept shovelling the stuff in my mouth had the portion not run out. Both the curry and noodles were nice, and it was clear to me why so many locals popped in for takeaway whilst I sat eating my dinner. One dude from a shop across the street came to pick up his plated food and return awhile later to deposit his dirty dishes. The most I ever felt at home in Brussels was during the meal I had at Thai Talks. When you tire of the city's ubiquitous moules frites, meander over here for a taste of Thailand you won't soon forget.

Very minimal noodles, and the wrong type - definitely not wide-rice noodles, which was a total bummer. Still, worlds above many NoVA/DC Thai venues, and - according to Wikipedia - there is no standard noodle style for this dish. (I haven't been to Thailand yet.) Overall, I recommend, as the flavors were good.
