Just around the corner from the Grote Market, we went to Fish a'gogo for late lunch. We wanted to…read moreeat inside and to do so had to order Each person had to order 1 drink and 1 food item. Once agreed, we were escorted past the busy kitchen up to the 2nd floor. Stairs were somewhat steep and narrow so take care. It was very cosy upstairs and fans helped circulate air so it seemed cooler than the outdoor seating. Small bathrooms were also located here behind a blue wall. We liked that they had a good variety of seafood options on the printed menu but also the specials that day. Pricing was quite reasonable compared to other places we checked out earlier. I walked downstairs to place my order and ordered the mussels, octopus, fried shrimp cake and a drink. However, after returning to our table someone came up to ask me to pay again as it seemed like the first terminal had some issue. Turned out that they ended up canceling the octopus order but that wasn't clearly explained, we inferred that's what happened with the lower tab bill. I guess it worked out since we filled up quickly on the generous bowl of mussels (nice and meaty) and used up all the bread to soak up the delicious broth. The fried shrimp cake was crisp on the outside and tasty. As others pointed out, there was at least one gruff guy (the one who took my initial order) but the servers handling the service on the 2nd floor were very nice and neatly setup everything on our tiny table. Would return for more on a future Antwerp trip.

The guy out in front wasn't the friendliest but the server that brought our food and cleaned our table was super friendly and nice. Their fried seafood were amazing too. Clean table and clean bathroom was a plus!

Selection is good but mostly fried or stir fried. Veggie menu is limited. Service is slow because the entire restaurant only has one server, one cook, and one prep. If you don't have reservation you will be turned down. I had diarrhea after eating here. Caters mostly to tourists so ambiance is good. However this does not make up for the quality of food which leaves much to be desired.

The one thing I did not enjoy was the cleanliness. I felt uncomfortable sitting next to the dying plants by the window, which attracted all sorts of bugs. I felt like the table had dirt from the plants and needed to be actually wiped down with soap and water. The floor needed to be scrubbed; the chairs had crumbs from previous patrons. Once the food arrived though, I forgot about this. There is a guy solo running the front. He took orders, brought out all dishes, and received payment at the counter. He asked where we were from because we spoke a bit of Mandarin. Cumin lamb was fried and very fragrant. Wontons in chili oil were big and juicy but could have been spicier. Sauteed cabbage was good - the only dish we got that wasn't spicy. Water boiled fish was numbing but could have used more flavor. It was just amazing to have white rice instead of potatoes for once in Belgium!! Credit card accepted. No American Express.

By the way it's one of the few Chinese in the neighbourhood with a terrace outside which is a plus during summer. A glass of housewine: 4,5€. A portion of kroepoek you usually get for free but here you pay 3€ (you'll get sweet & sour sauce as extra) Tofu with vegetables, 14,80€, delicious but I didn't have rice on the side or anything so it's not cheap. My girlfriend asked baked noodles as a side dish and paid 5,50€ for it. 9,80€ for a nasi goreng with chicken, is ok I would say. Then we asked for tea for three, got one pot of jasmin tea and paid 7,50€ for it (no cookies on the side), that I think is quite a lot again. The service is efficient, quick, the food is very good so it's a good place but do expect to pay more than in Chinatown.

He asked if I wanted a poke bowl lol it's our first day in Brussels I don't want a poke bowl... haha. He decided to get some mochi ice cream after bragging to the girls working that he is from Hawaii lol. So embarrassing. But they gave him an employee discount so that was cute. My husband is Hawaiian. Not just from Hawaii. I'm pretty sure the girls working don't know the difference, but he busted out his HI drivers license and pidgin for them. And then forced them to learn "mahalo". The mochi ice cream was just ok. I tried a bit of the tropical one and the mochi part was thin and the ice cream was more of a sorbet. I didn't think the texture of the sorbet and the mochi went together well. The inside is cute. They try to make it look more tropical I guess with fake plants.... I always have a hard time with cultural appropriation vs appreciation and I feel like things here could be much worse. Anyway, if you're looking for a poke bowl (or chicken bowl) this might be your place.
