Roji - a Japanese Fusion and Sushi restaurant in the old town of Antwerp near the cathedral is an unique dining establishment that combines old - Antwerp medieval cellar - and new - Japanese dining with Sushi bar.
The old cellar interior with rounded ceilings, open fire place and wooden furniture adds to the old Antwerp style & charm and gives Roji a distinct cosy warm atmosphere.
The food selection is diverse with some very expensive dishes on the menu such as Wagyu beef and King crab. The Sushi rolls we had are simply delicious, especially the Sexy roll, Dragon roll, Crunchy roll, Soft-shell crab roll and unique "W-Man" roll. In between, we were served a Thai "Tom Kha Kai" soup, a haute-cuisine take on the famous Thai chicken with coconut cream soup.
The only drawback is the service which can be a half an hour wait in between dishes, especially when you're seated in the back at the Sushi bar. As service is a very important part of any dining experience, this inattentiveness towards patrons is negative that spoils the pleasures of dining in such a fine restaurant.
For this reason alone, I can only give this dining establishment 4 stars instead of what possibly could be a coveted 5 stars.
I sure hope that the service will improve soon so that Roji can get the best reviews it deserves. read more
