Really nice and relaxing atmosphere.. Tasty dishes and sauce. Really enjoy the dishes and nice staff

Follow the signs down a little alley. A beautiful center courtyard with cafe lights, delicious food and great service made this a great experience.

Entrance through alley to the restaurant.

What an authentic, quaint and charming bistro near the main square. The staff were friendly and attentive despite being constantly busy. The food was delightful. I had the zucchini soup which was excellent especially on a chili and overcast day. Thank you for making our visit to Antwerp even better! I will recommend this restaurant to everyone who is planning a visit to Belgium.

Absolutely Fabulous Salmon!

Don't delay! Make your reservation at 't Hofke! It was by FAR the best meal we had in Anterp and actually all of Belgium!! Chef Ralph is truly gifted with creating delicious, interesting but not pretentious meals. My husband had the filet with mushrooms and the most delectable mushroom sauce either of us has ever eaten! I had the salmon which was truly exceptional and I eat salmon all of the time. Their fries- genuinely Belgian style & excellent as well. We had the "sin" for dessert which was an assortment of all of their desserts. It truly was incredible that every dessert could be as good as it was!! My favorite dessert in general is crème brûlée and theirs was the best I have ever had...not exaggerating. 'T Hofke is hidden in an alley with three other restaurants-maybe a challenge to find but worth it! It's in a building whose charm matches the incredible food-rich with history and ambience. A chef was seated at the table next to us with his date and you know if a chef is eating there it's a good sign! Skip the tourist traps and try the authentic Belgian dishes at 't Hofke!

Fantastic gem, worthy of your time. I would rate this as one of the most romantic restaurants you could visit in the area. (Regrettably, I was with a colleague.) Food was very well made and service was perfect - just the right attention to detail.

We had the best escargot we have ever tasted! The atmosphere was beautiful and a wonderful place to take a rest from a busy day of sightseeing. Everyone was very friendly and offered wonderful suggestions on what to order. If you have a chance you should definitely go!

Five-star experience no doubt. The moment you walk in the alley leading to the restaurant, you know this is not a tourist trap. Situated inside a block near the Cathedral, the restaurant enjoys convenience while not lacking quietness. The decor is also sweet and comfy, giving you a welcoming feeling right away. Food is amazing. We ordered Salad with bacon, apple and raspberry vinaigrette, snails and beef carpaccio as appetizers; all of them are on point and in reasonable portion. For main, I ordered the pasta with shrimp and chicken; the flavor is rich, and the veggies are fresh while soaked in flavorful sauce. Desert is quite nice too with several different options. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Even though it might take some time to get your food, the overall experience is worth your wait.

Definitely recommend to all my friends either local in Antwerp or visit. The location is central though not noisy/crowd because it's inside of buildings. The environment is cozy and warm. We ordered a soup of the day for each and pasta, stewed beef and duck breast. Each course was well prepared and the plate setting is very nice. The soup is great for cold weather, perfect with the bread. The waitress is nice and quick. Will go back.

Very quaint and special place. Steak can be hot or miss but the experience is very Belgian.

Amazing food and great service. Also, loved the atmosphere. It's a little off the beaten path so not filled with tourists.

Great cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. I like it's off the beaten path, not something you're going to easily come across. Food was great.

A place with a bit of a quirky edge. The name means Grandmother in Flemish and there are dozens and…read moredozens of photos of Grandmother photos on the wall. Apparently they are supplied by patrons. There seemed to be a good mix of locals and tourists. The menu is straightforward enough. I ordered mussels in a white wine sauce and it was quite the feast. I had the dark beer which is my favorite but they have a really good list. Ed tried the house 'red' beer that turned out to be very fruity, but with a hearty alcohol content. He ordered one thing, veal, but what came out seemed ab entirely different dish, chicken and pork. He enjoyed it so it was OK. He ordered potato croquettes with it and they were good. I thought I might get the ubiquitous fries (frites) but that didn't happen. They did give me a container of mayonnaise which one would assume is for fries, but when I inquired the waiter said it was for the mussels (?!) I guess I had to take his word for it. The portions were good and we left satisfied even with the glitches.

I wanted an authentic beef stew for dinner and thought a place that named themselves after Grandma…read morewould be decent. Service was standard, food came out pretty quickly. I ordered: - Shrimp croquette - there's small shrimps in this. Not small pieces of shrimp, but small shrimps. A bit of a surprise for me. Was OK tasting. - Fries - used to dip in my stew. I will admit maybe this is a ME thing, but the fries I've had here in general have not been stellar. Too potato-y and not crispy enough. - Beef stew - supposed to be the highlight. Flavors were OK, but the meat was just kind of dry and not very tender. After a while the sauce was a bit salty. The portion was good though. Overall OK, just the beef stew wasn't that great for me. It seems I should have ordered the mussels though, as so many other tables ordered it. Next time I will try that instead!

Very glad we planned to visit De Rooden Hoed when visiting Amsterdam…read more The service was top notch and our server was charismatic, fun, and helpful! We were seated at an intimate table next to a window where we could let the energetic nightlife fall into the backdrop. High recommend for this reason! Our meals and accompaniments were tasty and served in proper temperature with beautiful presentation. My dining partner opted for the lobster and I the shrimp, neither of us disappointed!

The menus and the whole place all gives a Belgian seafood vibe with lots of upscale selections like mussels, steak, scampi, etc. The entire menu is in Dutch, so bring a friend or use Google translate! Much of their beer has tons of belgian dark beers and more than the food menu! I think they have 4 pages of just beers and drinks while only having 1 for food haha. We ordered the one with mussels ( gegratineerde musselen) with torched cheese on the top and the runds steak. We also downed a their chocolate and dark beer which the chocolate beer in particular is a must try. The mussels were extremely good and cooked perfectly, the cheese mixed well, and the steak was cooked rare and delicious. I did post the receipt so you can see but basically the meal with appatizer amounted to about 42 euros per person which is what I expected for a more upscale place like this. I think if you only know English it can be a challenge to read the menu, but I still recommend this spot for a fancy meal.
