Set up nice, service good but to be excellent-just need to be more open(kind)to customers when they ask for more info about food and drinks. Not all customers are local...and not familiar with kitchen;a lot of them are visitors from different countries. But beside that- I do recommend this place Try home beer "de booma" blond

This was my first authentic Belgian meal. I wanted the full experience and this place sure delivered! What better place to start then somewhere called Grandma's Restaurant?! This place takes pride on serving up home cooked like your grandma would make! To start my friends and I split a pitcher of sangria. It was sweet end refreshing but definitely packed a punch of alcohol. For my meal I ordered Vol-au-vent. It's like a chicken stew with a mini biscuits. I also ordered a side of the cheese au gratin potatoes. Everything was very good. I really loved the stew. It was so much flavor in one dish. I would recommend ordering this if you're debating on what to try. Overall, this is a great place to grab a meal. It's authentic and delicious.

It's hidden down a quiet courtyard, right in the middle of the city but completely away from the noise and bustle. Totally one of those "if you know, you know" kind of places. The atmosphere here is just magical -- rustic, romantic, and old-fashioned in the best way. Even though we were seated outside in chilly weather, it still felt cozy and inviting. You could tell this was one of those restaurants that lives and breathes its history. Now, the food -- We ordered the duck breast with red porto jus and gratin dauphinois, and the beef stew. The gratin was so good -- creamy, cheesy, and perfectly comforting. The duck, though, was a bit of a letdown -- quite tough and hard to chew, which was disappointing because the sauce was lovely. The beef stew, on the other hand, came out piping hot (just how I like it!) and was hearty and flavorful, though a tad on the sweet side for my taste. Still, it was delicious overall. Service was great -- friendly, attentive, and never hovering. Everything felt relaxed and unpretentious. Our bill came to just under $100 USD, which I thought was very reasonable for the quality, setting, and experience. If you're wandering around Antwerp and want to escape the crowds while enjoying a cozy, candlelit meal in a spot full of old-world charm, this is the place to go.

We were seated at an intimate table next to a window where we could let the energetic nightlife fall into the backdrop. High recommend for this reason! The menus and the whole place all gives a Belgian seafood vibe with lots of upscale selections like mussels, steak, scampi, etc. The entire menu is in Dutch, so bring a friend or use Google translate! Much of their beer has tons of belgian dark beers and more than the food menu! I think they have 4 pages of just beers and drinks while only having 1 for food haha. We ordered the one with mussels ( gegratineerde musselen) with torched cheese on the top and the runds steak. We also downed a their chocolate and dark beer which the chocolate beer in particular is a must try. The mussels were extremely good and cooked perfectly, the cheese mixed well, and the steak was cooked rare and delicious. I did post the receipt so you can see but basically the meal with appatizer amounted to about 42 euros per person which is what I expected for a more upscale place like this. I think if you only know English it can be a challenge to read the menu, but I still recommend this spot for a fancy meal.
