Whoops, almost forgot to write a review for this place. We had lunch here on Tuesday after our intended destination around the corner ended up being closed. While the adjacent restaurant was much busier, this one seemed inviting, so we settled into an outdoor table (it definitely had filled up by the time we left). In hindsight, we would have sat indoors because the temperature seemed fine in there and it was really cute and homey. We ordered beers (natch), their version of a quinoa bowl (forgot the Flemish for it!) and a "chicken burger", which actually turned out to be a fried chicken sandwich. Both dishes were excellent. The grain bowl was like what you'd find in the States but better: loaded with veggies and a killer sauce. And who knew Belgians could make such a good fried chicken!? It was well-cooked and had the same sauce as the bowl, which was tasty. Of course it came with frites, but at that point we had had so many fries that we could barely differentiate. Service was extremely friendly and efficient. We ended up having more of an "American" meal here, but that was fine by us since we had OD'ed on the native stuff. Four happy stars, and we'd recommend this Zeppos to anyone wanting a good lunch in Antwerp. read more

My first meal in Antwerp was probably my favorite in all of Belgium. Kapitein Zeppos is kind of off the beaten path, but you'll know when you get there. They have a giant outdoor seating area across from the restaurant. It was a little too hot for me, so I decided to sit inside. I ordered a beer (a Jack's Precious IPA that really hit the spot), and then ordered some food. I went with the vol au vent, and holy crap, it was amazing. If you're not familiar with the dish, it's a puff pastry drowning in mushroom gravy with shredded chicken and ever-so-tiny meatballs. And if that's not enough, it came with a generous side of fries (with mayonnaise for dipping, of course). Rich doesn't even begin to describe it. The textures, the flavors, everything was perfect. Love zeppos food is good and has this cute vibe not pretentious. Prices are also very good, service also good

It's awesome how easy it is in Antwerp to combine good food with a great atmosphere. Kapitein Zeppos is one of those places where everybody likes to come for just a beer, lunch or for a big dinner. The interior feels like a dive bar but it's actually very bright in the front thanks to the big window. The food is honest and delish! If you like it more romantic, I would suggest you go sit in the back where it's more cosier and dark. Service is fast and friendly and they have a wide variety of specials that change on regular base. A must-be place in the summer thanks to their great patio with full sun the whole day! read more

Fantastic place! It has the old charm to it, with antique clocks over the bar and an antique motorcycle on section of the bar near the window, as well as the brick behind the bar and beautiful crown moldings on the ceiling. I had the recommended bacon burger special, and it was terrific as well as reasonably priced. Beer is a bargain at 2.50, genevers at 3.50 The lady behind the bar was super friendly and explained the different options on the menu, as well as recommending other places to visit during my stay in Antwerp. Found this place quite by accident, and glad that I did. Besides having a good beer selection that is very affordable, the food is good too. Had the spring rolls as a little nosh, but those around me were devouring wraps of lamb or veggies as well as the sandwiches (toast?). With wifi and hooks to hang a jacket or bag at the bar, it's the perfect little spot! read more

Pretty good Belgian food! Got the Puff Pastry and Beef Stew. Both came with Belgian fries that had tasty mayo with them, but admittedly was expecting heavenly fries, but they were only ok. The food was solid and the value was there. Amazing beer selection, which is a huge plus. We asked them for water and only got a small glass of tap water, but I think that's a European thing. read more

We really love K. Zeppos. The food is really delicious and I would say, not that expensive. Their daily specials are also delicious and a combination with the daily soup is really not expensive. My favorite is vegetarian lasagna. It's unbelievably delicious (i'm serious, no one expects that taste from a vegetarian lasagna) You might want to reserve if you're going with a group there. If the weather is good, you can sit outside and chill. highly recommended! read more

It´s one of my favorite places in Antwerp. Really good place in general and with nice atmosphere. Its good to have some beers and talk with friends and also to eat. The food is really tasty, although the menu is quite short and once you've been several times it gets repetitive. I suggest the change the menu once in a while ;) read more

Kapitein Zeppos is especially enjoyable thanks to it's massive terrasse right on the middle of the place. Go there to see and be seen. And the snack menu is always welcome when you had a little bit too much of wine or beer! ;-) read more

Pretty good place! Dropped in after roaming around Antwerp all day. It was almost filled with people during dinner (a good sign). The staff were very accommodating to these lost American tourists, and the food was great as well! read more

I really enjoyed this restaurant. There was lots of outside seating and the price was in line with what I would expect to pay in Antwerp. I had the Carbonade flamande (beef stew) with French fries and it had an excellent flavor. The bread was also very good. The waiter was friendly and spoke English extremely well.
