The guy out in front wasn't the friendliest but the server that brought our food and cleaned our table was super friendly and nice. Their fried seafood were amazing too. The tables are small, and not sure why they gave us the table by the restroom upstairs that was completely in the way of the server when other tables were open too. It was my first meal in Antwerp. I couldn't decide where I wanted to eat, and also I did not want to have huge meal as it was late afternoon and I had dinner reservation in early evening. In our three days in Antwerp, we are here twice! We love finding great food when we travel and FishAGoGo did not disappoint! Day one was mussels and fries, a lobster croquette and shrimp in an anise cream sauce..all were outstanding to the point where we wanted to make sure they'd be open on the Easter/Bank holiday... Thankfully they were!! Day two, fried fish of the day(with homemade tartar sauce, which even my husband, who HATES tartar sauce, really liked), aforementioned croquette and a smoked Mackerel on Brioche appetizer.. again, everything was amazing. It was great. I'd driven 2 hours from Amsterdam. I parked in a nearby ramp and needed to use Maps to navigate the busy Antwerp market square to find it. There was a little line but it went quick. I was a little nervous about the guy from a review I'd read but he was great. Told me what they had left, gave me an ideal NA option, gave me a perfect little outside table on busy corner for people watching. and pointed me to the toilet (which I was in dire need of post-drive). Straight up, no nonsense and I could not have asked for more. Especially the fish they only had mussels, octopus and sea bass left. I ordered the sea bass grilled and it was perfect - tasted like the sea with a little garlic :). The baguette was fresh and awesome for mopping up the tasty buttery sauce. Fish a'gogo is a small spot that specializes in fresh seafood. It was one of the few reasonably priced places in the area. We dropped in on a Monday afternoon (around 1:00pm) and it was busy. Luckily, we were able to snag a table out front but there's seatings upstairs too. There's a chalkboard menu outside but for the English menu, you need to go to the counter and ask for the iPad. There were a few daily specials (salmon, fried calamari and baby lobster). - Inktvis calamari (€8,00) - our favourite dish out of everything we ordered. Perfectly cooked, great texture and sauce was great to dip with the bread. - Scheermessen (€7,00) - razor clams were okay. A slightly chewier bite but they weren't cleaned well. I got some graininess in a few of them. - Mossel (€8,50) - finally got to try some mussels! Decent portion, plump but don't dip the bread in the broth. Broth on its own was very salty. - Sardines (€6,00) - we'd skip on this as the mackerel was more to our liking. Sardines were a touch bland. - Makreel (€8,00) - mackerel was excellent. Fresh and incredibly tender. Portions are smaller, tapa style but this was our favourite meal in the Netherlands. read more

We absolutely loved this little restaurant! Don't shy away when you first approach and think there is no seating. The steep stairs in the rear will take you to additional seating upstairs. If you'd like to see the full menu, ask for the ipad. When busy, ordering can get a bit chaotic, but the food is worth it. We ordered the razor clams, mussels, crab sandwich, and the shrimp croquet. Yet in the afternoon my stomach was feeling funny and around 4:30 pm I had four diarrheas and puked 3 times, luckily I was in a restaurant so I have toilet available, I occupied the toilet for about one hour and cancelled all my plan that evening, went back to hotel to rest. I was recommended to this restaurant by a friend. We knew there is no seat inside the shop only to eat outside though it seems quite popular as when we arrive around 6pm, there are only two seats left. All seafood we ordered was cook in a fresh way, no heavy taste. The deep fried fish goes perfect with the yellow wasabi source (I think?).. The shrimps are good. Recommend from me. It's a cute hole in the wall and one of my favorite meals of the trip! I just love seafood and being able to order from a menu of fresh offerings that are made to order. We pretty much ordered one of everything. Some things were a bit too salty, but the flavors were great. My favorites were the octopus and also the sauteed squid. I wanted to try the marinated (raw) salmon that was on the menu but they were out that day. I was a bit boring and just had fried cod. It was very clear and crisp---much lighter texture than, say, British style, and tasted pretty fresh. Not quite mind-blowing, though; after the first few pieces it got somewhat tiresome. But that might just be the dish---they're definitely good at what they do. Perfect little place that might fool you into thinking it's just an outdoor food stand, but they have a quiet upstairs room with tables and a view of the cathedral. The food was outstanding and such a deal, we got the squid, mussels, and fried cod for only 25 euros. There was hardly anything left once we finished, the fried cod and it's paired sauce was some of the best I've ever had. Would've definitely gone back if it hadn't been our last night in Antwerp. Really 4.5 stars but I'm rounding up. Had the razor neck clams, fried cod, and the lemongrass gambas (say that five times fast). I saw them cook my order as soon as I placed it...that's how fresh it is. The razor neck clams were cooked perfectly and were sweet. The fried cod is probably the best I've had in recent memories. Lightly battered and the homemade tartar sauce is on point. Half point deduction for overcooking my gambas (shrimp) but it was still really fresh.
