In our three days in Antwerp, we are here twice! We love finding great food when we travel and FishAGoGo did not disappoint! Day one was mussels and fries, a lobster croquette and shrimp in an anise cream sauce..all were outstanding to the point where we wanted to make sure they'd be open on the Easter/Bank holiday... Thankfully they were!! Day two, fried fish of the day(with homemade tartar sauce, which even my husband, who HATES tartar sauce, really liked), aforementioned croquette and a smoked Mackerel on Brioche appetizer.. again, everything was amazing. I was hesitant to write a review as its only going to get busier and busier. The two meals we had here were two of the best during our three week trip! Thanks, Chef Jorgen!!

Fish that was so good it made me forget to snap a pic beforehand...

It was great. I'd driven 2 hours from Amsterdam. I parked in a nearby ramp and needed to use Maps to navigate the busy Antwerp market square to find it. There was a little line but it went quick. I was a little nervous about the guy from a review I'd read but he was great. Told me what they had left, gave me an ideal NA option, gave me a perfect little outside table on busy corner for people watching. and pointed me to the toilet (which I was in dire need of post-drive). Straight up, no nonsense and I could not have asked for more. Especially the fish they only had mussels, octopus and sea bass left. I ordered the sea bass grilled and it was perfect - tasted like the sea with a little garlic :). The baguette was fresh and awesome for mopping up the tasty buttery sauce. Thank you Fish A'GOGO for an unforgettable Antwerpian eating experience!!!

Fish a'gogo is a small spot that specializes in fresh seafood. It was one of the few reasonably priced places in the area. We dropped in on a Monday afternoon (around 1:00pm) and it was busy. Luckily, we were able to snag a table out front but there's seatings upstairs too. There's a chalkboard menu outside but for the English menu, you need to go to the counter and ask for the iPad. There were a few daily specials (salmon, fried calamari and baby lobster). - Inktvis calamari (€8,00) - our favourite dish out of everything we ordered. Perfectly cooked, great texture and sauce was great to dip with the bread. - Scheermessen (€7,00) - razor clams were okay. A slightly chewier bite but they weren't cleaned well. I got some graininess in a few of them. - Mossel (€8,50) - finally got to try some mussels! Decent portion, plump but don't dip the bread in the broth. Broth on its own was very salty. - Sardines (€6,00) - we'd skip on this as the mackerel was more to our liking. Sardines were a touch bland. - Makreel (€8,00) - mackerel was excellent. Fresh and incredibly tender. Portions are smaller, tapa style but this was our favourite meal in the Netherlands.

tldr: Nice little unpretentious seafood restaurant. Offers special dishes and large selection of standard items. This restaurant is not overrated. This was the best authentic freshest seafood in Belgium. All the dishes are prepared well with fresh ingredients. Even the fried items were not heavy. Low prices for Antwerp. Get the seafood soup for a sampling of all the freshest seafood. The fish and chips are light and crisp. English speaking and English menu. Cute upstairs sitting area with a view of the plaza. I recommend making a stop here while in Antwerp.

Amazing fish and the owner is awesome! Eat whatever he has available and it will be so good. He was out of mussels so I ate scallops and sardines...Sooo good! Wish I stayed another day to eat there again!!

We absolutely loved this little restaurant! Don't shy away when you first approach and think there is no seating. The steep stairs in the rear will take you to additional seating upstairs. If you'd like to see the full menu, ask for the ipad. When busy, ordering can get a bit chaotic, but the food is worth it. We ordered the razor clams, mussels, crab sandwich, and the shrimp croquet. We added a beer and a water and our total was 34.50. Everything was delicious! Yelp challenge #27

Wow, if you're looking for a local seafood spot and some mussels in Brussels (or nearby), this is the spot for you! It's super affordable as well and has a great local vibe. Highly suggest everything shown here but particularly the mussels and oysters! OH-mazingness: 9.2/10 OH-ffordability: 8.2/10 (~€12-15)

Delicious and fresh seafood and fish. The guys know what they're doing. Pair it with dry white wine or regional beer et voila. Yelp information on opening hours is incorrect though. The place is closed tuesdays and wednesdays.

Today I ordered three dishes at noon, about 40 euro, food was good then and staff were really friendly, also a very popular place. Yet in the afternoon my stomach was feeling funny and around 4:30 pm I had four diarrheas and puked 3 times, luckily I was in a restaurant so I have toilet available, I occupied the toilet for about one hour and cancelled all my plan that evening, went back to hotel to rest. I assumed it's the oysters, since the whole day I just ate here, nothing more. Even now, 9:14 my stomach still doesn't feel alright.

Very glad we planned to visit De Rooden Hoed when visiting Amsterdam…read more The service was top notch and our server was charismatic, fun, and helpful! We were seated at an intimate table next to a window where we could let the energetic nightlife fall into the backdrop. High recommend for this reason! Our meals and accompaniments were tasty and served in proper temperature with beautiful presentation. My dining partner opted for the lobster and I the shrimp, neither of us disappointed!

Finding a restaurant to choose from in old town Antwerp is really hard given the choices, but since…read moreElfde Gebod was fully booked, De Rooden Hoed was the next choice, and I'm glad since it's a pretty good choice. The menus and the whole place all gives a Belgian seafood vibe with lots of upscale selections like mussels, steak, scampi, etc. The entire menu is in Dutch, so bring a friend or use Google translate! Much of their beer has tons of belgian dark beers and more than the food menu! I think they have 4 pages of just beers and drinks while only having 1 for food haha. We ordered the one with mussels ( gegratineerde musselen) with torched cheese on the top and the runds steak. We also downed a their chocolate and dark beer which the chocolate beer in particular is a must try. The mussels were extremely good and cooked perfectly, the cheese mixed well, and the steak was cooked rare and delicious. I did post the receipt so you can see but basically the meal with appatizer amounted to about 42 euros per person which is what I expected for a more upscale place like this. I think if you only know English it can be a challenge to read the menu, but I still recommend this spot for a fancy meal.
