This place has the BEST fish n chips I've ever had. The fish is very fresh and flaky, good portion size too. The most important part is the batter to fish ratio.. It was perfect. Not too much batter but enough to feel the decadence. There's nice outdoor seating too. My only qualm is that the service was basically nonexistent. The server saw us but did not bring us water or even menus for a good ten minutes. I had to go inside the restaurant to get our own menus. The food also takes awhile.. I think we probably waited for our one order of fish n chips for over 30min.. So just be aware if you're super hungry, you're going to be waiting.

Great fish and chips place in the heart of the city! Here you find basic fish and chips as well as some interesting varieties. I had a batter with wasabi which was yummie! The homemade raspberry, lime&thyme lemonade was really nice. Overall a really good experience.

Tried this place again and it was delicious!! The fish was cooked perfectly and the fries were more than enough!! If you wanna eat great fish and chips in Antwerp, Bia Mara is absolutely the place!!

No2 with Haddock on its way . A rainy day calls for some fish and chips

Service is a bit impersonable . However the taste and quality of food definitely is a plus . If you love fish and chips , this is the place , they also have tacos and chicken . nice small selection of beer

Homemade ice teas, fried fish with panko (l) and lemon Basil (r) crust. Prawns with sesame-panko crust. Array of sauces. Belgian fries.

We just love coming here time and time again! We would recommend to order one of the homemade ice teas, the sesame prawns (appetiser) and some fish dishes (maincourse) to share. For us it's a bit too much to eat an entire fried fish in one crust/flavor. But sharing some dishes is a perfect solution for that. Every maincourse is served with delicious (kinda) authentic-style Belgian fries that are thickly cut unlike the French variety (thin). As a plus every dish is served with a specific sauce. And the prices are very reasonable for a fish restaurant. We pay around 20 euros per person here.

Can be hit or miss but mostly a hit so we come back often. The best fish & chips in Antwerp but there aren't many choices.

We have a rule to never eat new tourist spots or on main squares but we broke it to eat at Fish A…read moreGogo. When you finally find the tiny storefront you immediately notice the case containing fresh fish on ice in front of an open kitchen. We were dredged by the owner and the available fish options were explained. We were directed up a vertiginous stairway to the second floor and we found a table. I returned to the first floor to place my order. One entree and one beverage are required for each diner. We ordered one draft beer each, one fresh fish each, razor clams and frites. The prices were fair and the food came out quickly. The razor clams were amazing, fresh and flavorful. The fishes were next each with a different method of preparation, both were spectacular! Finally there was a basket of complimentary bread. This was probably our best meal in Belgium and we left stuffed to the gills.

Just around the corner from the Grote Market, we went to Fish a'gogo for late lunch. We wanted to…read moreeat inside and to do so had to order Each person had to order 1 drink and 1 food item. Once agreed, we were escorted past the busy kitchen up to the 2nd floor. Stairs were somewhat steep and narrow so take care. It was very cosy upstairs and fans helped circulate air so it seemed cooler than the outdoor seating. Small bathrooms were also located here behind a blue wall. We liked that they had a good variety of seafood options on the printed menu but also the specials that day. Pricing was quite reasonable compared to other places we checked out earlier. I walked downstairs to place my order and ordered the mussels, octopus, fried shrimp cake and a drink. However, after returning to our table someone came up to ask me to pay again as it seemed like the first terminal had some issue. Turned out that they ended up canceling the octopus order but that wasn't clearly explained, we inferred that's what happened with the lower tab bill. I guess it worked out since we filled up quickly on the generous bowl of mussels (nice and meaty) and used up all the bread to soak up the delicious broth. The fried shrimp cake was crisp on the outside and tasty. As others pointed out, there was at least one gruff guy (the one who took my initial order) but the servers handling the service on the 2nd floor were very nice and neatly setup everything on our tiny table. Would return for more on a future Antwerp trip.

Awesome place for fish and chips in Brussels…read more Backstory- I'm not big on fish and chips and hardly ever order it. My mom loves eating this dish since she grew up on it. So being in Europe, she wanted to eat fish and chips. We had dinner reservations somewhere else but decided to go here for some appetizer sort option to make mom happy. Bia Mara has a ton of fish options and they can get it cooked any way. My mom wanted the locally caught coal fish option. The fish tasted great with the light coat for frying option. We ended up sharing it with French fries. The French fries were amazing as well. This place is local favorite and is extremely busy. And the service was excellent. The server helped us right away. Explained the fish options of the day. Brought out drinks right away and brought out our order fairly quickly. If you want great fish and chips in Brussels, this place is the one to be at. ~

We stumbled upon Bia Mara while roaming this neighborhood in Brussels. Bia Mara specializes in fish…read moren chips and they have all sorts of fishes and styles to chose from. When we got there it was very busy and we wanted to sit outside but the tables were so small they were very uncomfortable to sit so we went inside. Even though it is a very small shop they had a good 30-35 people enjoying dinner. The fish was very fresh and as you are in Brussels of course the fries are always gonna taste great. 5 star fish n chips place. This is an excellent neighborhood to explore Brussels a little bit different from the areas most tourists visit.
