During a work trip to Jacksonville, Florida, I found myself looking for somewhere close to the office for a lunch. I noticed this location on Open Table, so I booked to help make the most of our allocated one hour lunch. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately and the restaurant was quite empty. Though it was empty, it still took some time for our waitress to take our order and later to receive our bill to pay to head back to the office. Though the place was quiet and enjoyable for our meal, we ended up being rushed which we were trying to avoid. Overall, the Jerk Mahi Mahi was decent in flavor but at a price point of just over $25, I'd expect a little more. My coworker said her soup was okay, and took her bread to go as we didn't have much time to eat before leaving to return to work. After hearing about the closing of Bahama Breeze, I had to squeeze in a visit before they officially left Jax. A friend and I stopped by for happy hour, which starts at 4:00 p.m. The bar area was packed, but we managed to grab the last available booth. We both ordered Bahama Mamas to drink and shared the Skillet-Simmered Jerk Shrimp, Crab and Three-Cheese Dip, and Conch Fritters. The bartender did a great job managing a busy bar, our order was taken quickly, and drinks arrived promptly. The food came out hot and fast. The jerk shrimp was my favorite, while the crab dip was my least favorite. Overall, we had a good time and are hoping to visit again before they close for good. read more

I'm a little late writing this review, but it's definitely worth sharing! My party of 4 visited Bahama Breeze on Dec. 6, 2025 while in Jacksonville, and overall we had a great experience. The food came out fast, hot, and delicious, which is always a win. The drinks, however, were a bit on the weak side, especially for the price -- they definitely could've used another shot or two . Service was where this place really stood out. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and on point the entire time. The restaurant itself was clean, colorful, and beautifully decorated, truly giving those Bahamian island vibes . Shoutout to the manager, who was awesome! He came to our table after my friend's wings were fried a little too hard, was very understanding, and immediately had them remade at no additional charge. Was in Jacksonville for the holidays this year, fun in the sun is an understatement. As usual I had to stop by and do a review so here we go. Bahama Breeze was huge, a lot of space inside. There was also outside seating available, I was suprised at how many people were out for Christmas Eve but it wasn't full/busy. There were bars both inside and outside that one could choose from, the outside bar was more of a sports bar vibe with TVs to watch sporting events. Service was decent, I have to be honest and say when I got seated I think they forgot about me. It took about 15 minutes for someone to come and speak to me. It happens, I was kind of hidden in a corner so I don't want to make it a huge thing. My waitress was kind and she got my order out to me quickly after she acknowledged my existence. I got some of my food to-go at the end of my stay and she added more to it before I left, which is always appreciated. Food was good, I wasn't too thrilled with the flavors of the food. I did not hear anything about the establishment so I came in blind so I was open minded about the experience. A Caribbean place in Jacksonville right? Who knew? Lol! My drink was amazing. I had the King Carnival, highly recommended. One thing I will say is all the food I had was extremely filling, I started with the Chicken Tostones and that almost took me out! Great portions, but again it was lacking in the flavor department. Directly after I had the stuffed plantain bowl, I loved the sound of it on the menu: caramelized sweet plantain, yellow rice, ground beef, alllllllllll the goods. Ok I havent been to bahama breeze since before covid, but their happy hour specials are still the best in town! My friends and I yesterday enjoyed HH drinks ranging from $4 to $6 (my fav was the house marg, my friend liked her berry sangria, and hubby liked the bahama mama). We also enjoyed oodles of 1/2 priced apps! Their coconut shrimp with the mango chutney is the best in town, and the new ahi tuna tostada stack was great as well! Came with a big group for lunch on a Thursday around 12:15 and had no problem getting a table inside. I just felt like everything was very slow. We waited over 45 mins from when our order was put in to get our food, and I get that it was a big party but the restaurant was not busy. I got the mahi tacos with broccoli and they were good, not the best tacos I've had because the flour tortillas were hard as a rock. Would I come back? I ordered the new menu item, the Jerk Mahi Mahi topped with a fresh tomato salas, lime vinaigrette and served with yellow rice for $22.99. The wait time was about 30 minutes. The dish looked very good. Beyond that, it was a downward slide. Too much lime vinaigrette and the rice were cold. Although the rice was cold, it tasted very good with the charred tomatoes. The Mahi Mahi didn't make the cut. The Mahi Mahi was hot, but it was overcooked, extremely dry, chewy, bland, and tasteless. This Mahi Mahi had no Jerk and no Caribbean flare. My one complaint is that curbside service can range from speedy to taking 35+ minutes past your intended pickup time. It's been yeeeeears since we've been to Bahama Breeze, but have always enjoyed it in the past, so we were looking forward to coming back when a friend picked it for their birthday dinner. Despite being a large party of about 25 people, service was good. Food was delivered promptly and the servers were attentive. I ordered a dragonfruit margarita, which was surprisingly quite good considering that I'm not normally into fruity drinks. For appetizers, we ordered the skillet simmered jerk shrimp, crab and 3 cheese dip, and yuca cheese sticks. I didn't care for the yuca cheese sticks, but the crab dip and shrimp were both good. For an entree, we ordered the lobster and shrimp linguini, which has always been a staple. I did think the linguini was slightly over cooked, but the flavor was good. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal, but the food quality and flavor was just slightly over mediocre. We've always had a great time when we come here. The happy hour half priced appetizers is a steal. The jerk shrimp appetizer is so good and the bread it is served with is so fluffy. Also on our list of favorites is the coconut shrimp and yuca fries. I got the salmon this last time and it was really good. In the past I've also ordered the chimichurri steak and it was so good!! We've eaten at BB many times over the years - but never with the experience we had at lunchtime yesterday (Wed 7/9/25). Our server was pleasant and quick to respond, however gave us the wrong information regarding ingredients in the yellow rice. Not important for some folks but due to allergic reactions to green peppers hubs was unable to eat that item. No replacement was offered. I ordered the Chicken Breast sandwich sans the brioche bun. Had to re-request the mayonnaise-type dip after receiving the wrong dip. Without the dip, the chicken would've been entirely inedible as it was seriously overcooked and dried out. I was able to manage the center portion by slathering it in the mayo-cilantro dip but could not eat the outer portion at all. Again, no replacement was offered. As someone with catering experience, I would never have offered that chicken breast to anyone. The entire experience cost $43 plus a generous tip; no bar tab as one of us ordered a soft drink and the other had only water. It was an entirely disappointing meal, with friendly but incomplete service. read more

This used to be my favorite happy hour spot but I haven't been in awhile. Just came back today for lunch and it was less busy than usual, we got our table right away. I had ordered the Virgin Pina colada, it was overly sweet and not cold enough. I would liked it a bit more flavour. Onto the entree, I had the new pineapple chicken and shrimp served with white rice. It was surprisingly too sour, I believe there was too much pineapple juice in the sauce which made it soggy and not sweet enough.
