I got a virgin bahamarita that was especially flavorful. Food came out quickly, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The only hang up was that they were out of the sandwich I ordered, and I had to wait a while to be informed about it. However, when the manager did inform us about the sandwich, she offered to replace it with anything else I wanted, plus I received a $20 gift card at the end. I was disappointed about them being out of the sandwich I wanted, but I understand; it was really packed, and the end of the day. Not only was that situation handled well, but our server was also very friendly and attentive. I also have to give them props for the atmosphere. It seems like a nice place for a date; especially if you sit on the patio when they have live music. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. This is possibly the worst service I've ever experienced. I walked in with my group and they were busy, but still had several tables that were clear. The host told me, just a minute or two to be served. I said fine I'll go order a drink at the bar. At the bar, there was one manager and two bartenders, and they were all in conversation and would not acknowledge me no matter how loud I yelled to get their attention. Approximately 10 minutes later a bartender walked out of the bar area and I went and grabbed him and said we needed drinks and then we finally got our drink order in and served. Another ~10 minutes later, I went back to the host boy, and asked him what the heck the wait was for. He had a surprised look and said oops I forgot and then seated us. We sat at our table and no one ever came to serve us. I tried getting a female waitress' attention that continued to pass by and serve the table next to us, two times, but she ignored. A third time when I raised my voice asking for our server, she looked at me while walking by and rolled her eyes. ~5 minutes later, I walked back over to host and asked him who are server was, and again he admitted he did not tell anyone. Went back to the table and waited. Another ~5 minutes later I got up and found another waitress and asked her who our server was and she said no one in her area had been told and she was very apologetic and when I explained the wait times, ignoring and rolling eyes, she felt bad and told me she was very new there and was very sorry. Her name is Meagan, she decided to proactively serve our table, and she was extremely awesome. She continued to apologize, offer great service, and discounted our meal a small portion. Came here on a Friday night around 9:15p with my daughter and her friend. I'm typically not a fan of these chains but this is where they wanted to go. When we walked in, I was not thrilled to see approximately 30 ppl waiting to be seated. So, off to the bar we go. We each had a drink (two pina coladas and one goombay smash) at $7 each, which I thought was reasonable. A few sips into our drinks and our buzzer lit up. I was impressed as I thought we would be waiting much longer. We were seated and promptly greeted by our server. We ordered the jerk chicken wings and lobster/shrimp quesadillas to start. My daughter excused herself and while she was gone the server came back to take our dinner order. Apparently, she didn't want to wait for everyone to be at the table - luckily we knew what she wanted. The dinners came out on the heels of the appetizers. Absolutely great service. We started out on the patio but after an hour the heat became unbearable so we moved inside. Our server outside was Kyle and he was amazing, he answered all of our questions and was super friendly. He made great suggestions when it came to the food and drinks. Although I didn't like my first drink he made sure I found one I like. So happy to have checked out this location in Duluth. I used to frequent this restaurant back home in Chicago so it was nice to see one in the area. Had lunch here with my friend Sari and enjoyed every bite. We were both craving salads so she ordered her chicken cesar and I took our waitress's advice and had the "chicken kabob salad." I was told by "Happy" (yes, that's our waitress's real name) that this is not a regular menu item but I was glad that I took her suggestion. It's a huge salad with grilled zucchini, red onions, tomatoes and chicken. I'm a huge fan of red onions and grilled vegetables in general, so the salad was perfect. My roommate and I went out to eat for a casual Tuesday dinner. She is from the Islands and she just moved to the city, so I thought it would be a perfect place for her to try. I have been to Bahama Breeze several times and have always sat on the patio, but this time I was met with less than a pleasant experience. First of all, If your hostess is so miserable that she cannot say anything that even slightly resembles a greeting she probably shouldn't be there. I can overlook that though because sometimes people just aren't feeling it. However the hostess that actually led us to the table was very accommodating and pleasant 5-stars for her, I cannot remember her name. The music is good, the banana supreme dessert was excellent (which was the only thing I ate this visit), and the service was fine. I can be really indecisive even though I've been in the service industry for a long time (hostess, server, bartender, manager) I was happy that my server Alison was patient with me. We like Alison. Roughly around 10:15 I ordered food; they do specials on appetizers from 10-close. 10:16 is when everything that was perfectly fine went down the drain. I was still on the patio sipping the Rum Runner when a squad of roaches crawled across any surface that was vacant. I know I'm outside, so I can look past one or two bugs. However, when I can see 5-8 of them in my immediate view I am disgusted and confused. I'm sitting at the low table when a roach crawled across my foot. My roommate and I moved to a taller table, but to no avail the roaches crawled up the side of their island pub chairs. We informed the manager. She apologized. We tried to push through on the patio let alone in the restaurant. That was until a flying roach probably the leader, hit me in the back. Naturally I jumped up and moved, to which a waitress named Daysia made a rude remark about us being outside so what do we expect. I surely don't expect to have bugs hit me while trying to drink rum. We moved inside. They gave us the wrong tab. The manager found it fitting to give us a 25% discount for our pain and suffering. We still tipped 20%. We promptly left. It is proper to tip well regardless because it is their livelihood. Waitstaff are already extremely underpaid as it is ANYWHERE. Which is probably why they couldn't afford to re-ring the check. I don't know who is in charge of pest control, let's hope they get on top of it. All in all, do better Bahama Breeze. Extremely disappointed. Let me know when the army of roaches is gone. read more

The food is legit with plenty of the staples you'd expect - plantains, beef, jerk spices, etc. - that will leave you full due to the heaping portions. This is one of my all time favorite "local " restaurants. I live in Ga and it's a 30 min drive from my house so once I get there the atmosphere makes me feel like I am on vacation. Most weekends they have live music outside, and in the winter there is a big fire pit you can eat around.
