Samoon, fresh out of the clay oven
Mary Z.

Exactly six months later and the samoon is still amazing! When we walked in today, they had just taken some out of the oven, and it was still warm. Plus, it's cheaper! We paid $2.40 for four loaves today; in April we paid $3 for four. Fantastic little bakery!

Fresh baked samoun bread soooo good

The Samoon (I just found out today the actual name of the bread I've been buying for a year and a half now) is outstanding!

Need a place to get fresh seafood for a boil? Or want fresh seafood fry or steamed?! This is your…read moreplace to go. I got so much seafood for my seafood boil to take home and I didn't break bank. The seafood was fresh and LIVE! Definitely worth it. While I was there O picked up lunch too since I was making the seafood boil for dinner. They fry or steamed your fresh fish there! Let me tell you, it was worth it. The combo meals are where you want to go. You get a bit of everything. Crab cakes were STUFFED with crab rather than just breading! The fried okra was crispy, crunchy. The calamari was crispy and tender! Not chewy at all! The hush puppies were seasoned! And didn't taste like just fried dough, the plantains were sweet and tender. Finally the fish! Buttery, flakey, juicy, tender, BUT with a CRISPY light breading! So much better than other places where they over bread their food and all you get is breading! Would come here again for their food and their fresh seafood to take home!

Came here for the first time on a friend's visits. They had…read morea wide selection of fresh fish on display. There's no where to eat in, only takeout. The place was clean and the people were friendly and helpful. Food is cooked when you order so have a little patience. We got the fish sandwich sandwich and it was fresh and hot. It did have bones in it, so bd careful. A nice place to stop on the way home if having a seafood urge. We will be back to try many other kinds of seafood.

Way over due…read more I never realized how lucky we are in Raleigh to have so many good Arabic bakeries until I tried looking for them in bigger cities (Atlanta, Philly, D.C.) that are apparently completely bereft of good Arabic groceries. Jerusalem Bakery & Grocery has most of what you need for cooking Arabic food I will say flat out its the best pita bread on the east coast. When i visited other cities family there would ask me to bring pita bread when I came. The meat, cheese and spinach pies are fantastic. The cheese pies are my personal favorites. The family that owns this place is really nice, and will be even more pleased and solicitous if you show a genuine appreciation for their food. Oh, and they have a dessert that I can never remember the name of, but which is also wonderful and difficult to find - it's the one made of filo dough with cheese inside and attar (the sweet sticky sauce) on top. I have yet to see it anywhere else in the U.S, and they do a good job of it. Like many bakeries, they bake early in the morning and sell until its gone. So best selection and quantity is going to be in the mornings. For the visit on Jan 7, 2025, I got 3 meat pies, 12 cheese pies, 4 pita bread bags, and 1 sesame date cookie package which is also a favorite of mine. Total $51.14. An important pro tip is that the pies and pita bread all freeze great. so go ahead and eat 1 pie while its warm, because it likely will be, and then quickly freeze the rest. Then, warm it up in a toaster oven.
